We are big believers of the montessori method and Storm is the real deal when it comes to Montessori. It's clear when you walk into the classroom but also in how she communicates with the kids. 2. Small class size - we really wanted a calm environment and find that our boys thrive in it. 3. Outside time - we love that they are in a yard surrounded by flowers/trees/nature. They get to participate in planting (which they love!). Storm has a very sweet/calm dog and we were nervous about it at first because both boys weren't comfortable with dogs. Now, they love to greet any dog that passes them! The exposure got them not only comfortable but actually interested in dogs. We also love that the arrangement of the backyard really inspires imaginative play (as opposed to purely physical activities). 4. We love getting all of their "work" on a weekly basis. We get folders of art/craft projects, writing projects, etc every single week. 5. Academically, our 4 yr old is starting to read and write (and most importantly, is genuinely interested in learning). 6. I love that they have responsibilities at school (helper jobs). My child used to hate going to daycare (kindercare) and would weep every single day. I've seen the difference in how the kindercare staff would work with the kids versus Eyas and it's a world of difference. The teacher churn rate is low as well. My child has been attending Eyas for about 1.5 years now and I have only seen 2 teachers leave. With multiple teachers per class, kids find it easy to manage the minimal churn, if any. They work really hard to provide a great Pre-K experience, in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning . They follow Montessori methodology and teach the kids life skills like independent play, cleaning up after yourself and sharing. They provide excellent communication, and focus on each child as an individual and are willing to take the difficult conversations. One of our kids also struggled with focus and following directions and even though we didn't always see eye-to-eye on how to handle situation that arose at school, the important part is that Morningstar staff worked closely with us, we communicated and discussed concerns and took the time to understand perspectives. As parents we want the best for our kids, and sometimes that also means making sure our kids are also contributing to that environment for the other kids and not taking away from that. It is not an easy balance to reach, but having a school that cares and works with the family to get it right is greatly appreciated.

This is another kindercare franchise so they follow rules strictly and they maximize teacher student ratios according to state laws. Few things I didn't like though was for 1, I had a muddy buddy outfit I wanted my son to wear if they play in the rain but they didn't allow it because it's too inconvenient for them but they rather change all his clothes completely! The thing that bothers me most is the star system the teachers implement. Each day if they behaved, they get a star at the end of the day. If they did something bad and didn't listen to the teacher, they don't get a star. I am then suppose to punish him at home by taking away something he loves. This old rewards system is not implemented in a lot of schools anymore and other educators that I've talked to said it's not recommended to use anymore. My son gets so fixated on the damn star, he cries when he doesn't get it sometimes I don't think it's right. Another thing that bugged me the most is that there was 1 child in the class that was particularly disruptive. She told me exactly who it was and how my son thinks it's funny when the "bad" kid did something he's not suppose to and follows him. Blaming another 3 year old and labeling him is just not professional. They were very nice and made a goodbye scrapbook of my son as a goodbye gift. Somehow the poem they inside had the wrong child's name . I think 1 teacher to 10 kids is just too much for them to focus on them. For those reasons, I took my son out.
