It could be a really nice place to visit…read more There are gazebos and a fountain, a couple small walking loops, a playground, plenty of paved parking, and a paved area that looks like it is intended for activities and possibly could be used for a festival/farmer's market. The reality is that the gazebos are in dire need of repainting (poor paint selection as it is peeling badly!), trees have been broken off at the base and need replaced, and the activity area looks unfinished. There are markings for a pickleball court, but no supports for a net and no holes in the concrete to place poles. The shuffle board area only works if you have a place to rent/borrow the equipment (who has those things at home?). There is a long stretch of an astroturf-type material that has slightly raised walls surrounding it. The website says this is a bocce ball court, but are visitors supposed to bring their own? It looks that way. And sadly, the vandalism on the restroom has taken over the side away from the street and facing the playground. Who wants to take kids to a park that has profanity painted on the walls? The good news is that things aren't so far gone that they can't be corrected. The park is also right next to the Cardinal Greenway and would make a nice stopping point for a break for visitors if this was restored. Review #2259

Our favorites were the wave pool and the lazy river. We didn't have little ones so we didn't use the kid's area. There is plenty of lounging chairs but if it's super busy these may fill up pretty fast. Luckily you can also set your stuff up in the grassy area too. These are my tips for visiting: 1. Best hours are between after lunch and close. 2. You gotta keep your water bottles, drinks, and snacks in the car. So pack a cooler for breaks or purchase from their snack bar (affordable prices & had 1/2 food after 5pm!). You can also bring in empty bottles to fill up. 3. Stay with your little ones in the wave pool. While our older kids loved the high wave hours, it can been rough for little guys. 4. Check Groupon, they were admission packs available! 5. The "toilet plunge" waterslide is a little rough for little kids, and kids must be 48" or taller for the water slides so they are great for older kids. And there is a specific kid area for the smaller kids! 6. Pack your own beach towels, sunscreen. 7. They aren't really any shaded area, so bring something, like a shade tent, to set up in the grassy areas if preferred.

I ordered a soft pretzel with cheese and got a hard dried up pretzel with cheese. Come visit the park and enjoy just don't ask for much in the way of food.

Upland was believed to be the highest point between Chicago and Columbus so a depot was erected here. The park has a curved wall that has plaques with information about Upland. There is also a gazebo on the west end, a caboose in the middle, and a wooden play train large enough for smaller kids to play in. The carts are junky and I have never experienced worse cart paths. They are all made of dirt and gravel. They also don't allow spectator carts so don't expect to get to ride and watch someone play. Don't believe the website or the pictures you may see of this course. There are very few spots that actually look like a proper golf course. Not to mention the prices are crazy for this kind of condition. Everyone we have brought here today and even talked to has had something bad to say about this course. No wonder the only reviews were from 7 years ago. Even if it is a 36 hole course, it's a terrible time and not worth your money, or your sanity. I would rate this 0 stars if I was allowed.

When I arrived at the park, I didn't know about the annual Christmas lights display, so I was a bit…read moresurprised to see the mature trees still wrapped in lights. I also was surprised at the foot worn paths between the numerous statues, gazebos, the shelter, and other flower beds and trees. At first, I thought it looked like a fun place (especially when you take in the view of the railroad path to the west that includes a bright mural). But upon closer look, I could see the park could use a tasteful eye to edit what was included, maybe bring a bit of uniformity. There are lots of statues, mostly small and white, but some are bronze and some are concrete deer. It is clearly not a playground park, but I suspect it's meant to appeal to kids to create focal points throughout the park for holiday decorations. It's kind of whimsical, but not especially peaceful and relaxing. There was no sign posted for parking though I read another review that says you can park in a lot on Gano. Since there is a shelter and the gazebos, it makes me wonder if the park gets any use throughout the year or only during the holidays when decorated. I saw on the news in Indy's suburb about Kokomo's gigantic display of holiday lights. I used to…read morelive in Kokomo but never know about We Care Park; I visited We Care's home of decorated Christmas trees. So, I went while in town visiting and not knowing it has been around for many years. This event takes up about a block. There is free park in a lot on Gano road. Hooped walking paths are constructed. You can drive/ride through to see some of the displays. However, I recommend you get out (maybe without infants) during a dry and not muddy evening to see all the wonderful lights and take in the fresh air. I have a few favorite displays, but really liked the moving carousel with stuffed bears.

The basketball court was refinished and added sturdy end brackets for holding the backboards, cool images on the backboards, seating, and a wall mural with a basketball theme too! The restrooms were upgraded and the park was generally in great shape. But now, one of the backboards is missing and the other has the finish on the backboard damaged. What happened? Can't someone at least get a plain backboard and basket to make the court playable? Such a shame. The rest of the park seems to be in okay shape. There are lots of amenities on site: baseball field, skate park, tennis court, and on the south end, a small playground. Lots of open space and some trees for shade (other smaller ones have been planted for future shade too.) There didn't seem to be any designated parking lot for the park. There was some parking along the baseball field on the north end and some street parking. And the "shelter/restroom" is rather small, so it doesn't lend itself to be the place someone would rent. Still, if the parks department or the neighbors spent a little bit of money, the park could become a lot more functional. Review #2482
