Love it here and love Pastor Mark. I have been coming here for so many years, they were on Vulcan in Encinitas. Great congregation of pastors, a great youth program and volunteers in childcare. The church has grown so much over the past 10-15 years, it just keeps getting bigger. Fantastic music and musicians. Beautiful grounds and a casual easy going vibe.

Great preaching. Not a small church where you can get to know everyone. It was at one time small. So, you gotta choose.

It's nice to see that there is a children's ministry, but since I've served for many years; I immediately noticed all the children leaving, still had their name tags on - this is exposing these children to potential risks of strangers. Next, the space is small as anticipated but there were so many people making it difficult to feel welcome and to figure out where to go. We found seats upstairs, it was nice to be sitting above the main sanctuary but eventually I regretted sitting upstairs because it was hot! As soon as the worship ended, the people behind us started taking and talked for most of the service. When the pastor came out, he introduced the new pastor and then begins his very long sermon. There were several verses being covered Ephesians 5:17-21 - his style is much different than what I'm accustomed too. I understood the message, but it was repetitive and didn't seem to progress. Pulling one word out the verses was not enough and then jumping all over the Bible to make a point was confusing. Finally; with 3 services, it's important to keep the message timely. We went to the 9:45 service, it actually ended at 11:30 - which is the exact time the 3rd service was supposed to begin. The pastor acknowledged that the clock was telling him to wrap it up, but he dismissed it and continued for another 15 minutes. This seemed rude to me, not taking into consideration the congregation's time and the next service. Multiple people walked out during the service. The worship team did a great job, although sadly the time of worship was very short.

I have been service with them shortly after and can say even behind the scene's they take the challenges head on to make sure that all are welcome no matter what and that the children even have a great experience so that way the adults can encounter God. I love to call this church our church family. Its not a church you attend but a family where you belong.

The teachers are extremely focused on "bringing your friends from school" and that is about it! My boys attended for one year (5th and 7th grade) and didn't make a single friend. The women's ministry is lacking--they meet once a month if you have a toddler. The life groups fill up quickly and I wasn't allowed to join because it was "too late, too full." It's probably just too big.

I stopped in at the office and was greeted by a wonderful, friendly and helpful lady, Arlene I believe, in the office and she was the highlight of my trip. She was so helpful and genuinely interested in helping me get all my questions answered. She even attempted to get me in to visit with one of the Pastors, but he wasn't able to see me. I attended the Sunday service, along with two other former classmates, and thoroughly enjoyed the message (guest speaker) and the welcoming spirit of so many of the congregation. Arlene, who sang in the choir, noticed and remembered me when I walked in and she made me feel so welcome when she came up to my friends and me after the service and welcomed us. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend Carlsbad Community Church to anyone looking for a church home and a deepening of their relationship with the LORD. We knew from day 1 that we had found our real church home and we've been here over 4 years now! The Pastors, Elders, and Ministry Leaders are all so amazing -- "worth the price of admission" -- but wait! . . . there's more! ; D It has quite a variety of people and ages and stages... yet still feels like it's a true Family. What we love most is that the "personality" of FCC is unpretentious, pleasantly interesting, and based on a pure & joyful passion for God. It exists for God's Glory, furthering the Gospel (to the benefit of every willing soul!) & uplifting God's people -- via gathering together for relationship-building within the Family (including God). FCC is a thriving church that, like a loving family, cares; isn't "trying too hard;" and is perfect just the way it is ...being itself. What else can we say? . . . FCC is a slice of Heaven on Earth!

Bonus- a super place to gather and feel safe--- they have volunteers with military experience who take turns keeping an eye open and making sure that the check out process for kids is followed so everything is in order. And did I mention fun? To celebrate the end of the week, there was a bouncy house, Chick fil A picnic, face painting, games-- fun for everyone!

This church teaches a different gospel- although they preach that Jesus has died to atone for our sins, this church teaches what's called a self-centered, narcissistic prosperity gospel, which goes something like this: "Give us more money and you will be blessed!" Additionally, they focus so much on demonic spirits and deliverance, leaving many churchgoers hurt and scarred and traumatized from the emotionally abusive "deliverances" they perform. I was one of them. I had to go to therapy after being left in a very bad place because of this church. My therapist told me I'm not the only one. And I have friends from the church that have gone through the same. I warned them not to, but they wanted the healing that was promised so badly. Maybe it's not always a demon. Maybe sometimes it's just you. Over spiritualizing things is a problem. God says to focus on Him, not demons. But people are so lost and hurt and looking for a healing, that they will do anything and listen to anything. If only they knew they can turn to Jesus and find peace and walk out their healing. Awaken promises a one-and-done healing from "casting those demons out". One time, they cast out a spirit of vegetarianism. This is when I knew it was all bogus. This church is a "WORD OF FAITH", "NAME IT AND CLAIM IT" "PROSPERITY GOSPEL" church. If you aren't healed yet? Oh well, "You don't have enough faith. Keep declaring!! It's God's will to heal you and make you rich!" I have news for y'all, we are not to DECLARE. It is extremely arrogant to do so...we are not God, God is sovereign. We are to humbly come before God and submit our requests and believe. We aren't supposed to focus so much on our worldly wants and needs but on God and His will. This church is also full of cliques, with the pastors showing off (and setting the example for others) with the latest fashion styles, expensive cars, private jets, and paying large sums of money that most can't afford to be a part of a business clique. Those who can't afford it pay it anyway to be a part of the in-crowd and to be "blessed" like they are promised. Nothing against having nice things or being able to afford nice things, however, this church did nothing for outreach in our community while I was a part of it....and also...Jesus didn't say it was His will for us to be rich. Jesus actually said we would suffer for believing in Him and that our suffering will produce character and a deepened faith. Prosperity gospel once again. Oh, and if you mention something isn't biblically sound in the church, the pastors will call you a legalist. For example, the church tells everyone to speak in tongues all at once (like babbling pagans). The bible says that it's a gift that not all receive and that if someone speaks in tongues it should be interpreted. God gave us His word for a reason, and although we are no longer under the Mosaic covenant (since we are under the Messianic covenant now), obedience is a fruit of our belief in Him. Of course, there is always light in the darkness. I have found some truly life-long friends at Awaken. But now we go to a biblically sound church together. Read your bibles! Know the truth. If you want to know of a biblically sound church filled with humility, message me and I'll share with you! If you want to learn more about what a Biblically sound church is and is not, watch the American Gospel documentary. This is much like a NAR highly charismatic church, even though they call themselves nondenominational, and a Tony Robbins seminar at best. Too many people have been hurt by this church for me not to share.
