Two words: CHRIS BROWN No, not the rapper :) I wish this were our home church but we live all the way up in north OC. But to hear this man preach, we make the 71-mile trek every couple months and it's always worth it. Not only is he a master story-teller and super engaging and funny and all the characteristics of an effective speaker, but most importantly he is faithful to the text--he does his research and draws out details that have often gone overlooked by even seasoned students of Scripture, and delivers God's word, neither in a "seeker-friendly" manner, nor in an academic tone as if to seminary students, but rather to the soul that simply needs more Jesus (that's everyone) in no matter what stage of their Christian walk. And I love how he doesn't assume everyone in the audience is a "seasoned' Christian or even saved in the first place. He doesn't even assume you know how to navigate the Bible as he guides you how to flip to book/chapter he is preaching out of. His messages will make your eyes water and fire you up at the same time. Get ready to open the floodgates (your tear ducts ) He's helped me with my walk for years now, whether I listen online or in person. Finally the music during the service is awesome. Being a musician and having played for several worship teams over the years, I don't mean that lightly. Their play a variety of worship songs, including contemporary , oldies but goodies, AND original songs they've written themselves! --which are both easy to sing and gospel-centered at the same time. read more

OK, so I have been on a journey trying to find a church that truly felt like home. I was raised Catholic, but for a while there I was only showing up at Christmas and Easter, and I knew in my heart I needed something more. Something that would light me up inside and that I'd actually be excited to bring my whole family to. And then I found North Coast Church, and honestly? It changed everything. What I love most is that they offer so many different types of services , a Latin service, a more contemporary rock music service, a live music service, an outside service, so even though it's a large church, it never feels overwhelming or impersonal. No one is forcing anything on you, which I deeply appreciate. And Pastor Chris Brown? He is just so wonderful. North Coast is a church on a mission, and you can feel that the moment you walk in. This review is about the beautiful architecture and the nice campus in general. I was very impressed with everything from the music that was so melodic all over to the feeling of being in a theme park, especially nearby the kids school. I wasn't sure this was a church. I discovered this place. Thanks to Yelp. When I was looking for a coffee shop I wrote another review for the coffee shop which was great. I think if I have to be in the area again I will just go there to grab a coffee and study or work. Everything looks super peaceful. I don't know about the church itself as I Am Catholic and I heard this one is non denominational and quite frankly, I don't think I believe on mixing all faiths under One roof as there are many incompatibilities in different religions. My impression is that whoever is maintaining these buildings it's wealthy looks like at church for the rich. Not trying to insult anyone with this comment. I also use the bathroom and was perfectly clean and neat. I was surprised to also see an auditorium so I guess they do concerts and performances. So this North Coast church is like a mini city hidden off the beaten path. read more

Wow, nice campus. Things for the kids to do too. That's cool. The sermon got weird though. Jews murdering Jesus on Easter...demon worship going on for anyone not worshipping to the exact pastors standards... that kind of thing. "Coexist? Not on my watch!" Which is a bit weird. I attended for about 1 year. The church waxes and wanes between sound Biblical doctrine and seeker friendly sermons depending on which pastor is preaching. The day that I decided to leave was based on the fact that many of the worship songs that they sing are written by Bethel, Elevation church, and Hillsong. All three of those false mega churches preach a man-centered blasphemous gospel. And I learned that when a church sings worship music by another church they have to pay a royalty to that church, which means a portion of people's tithes and offerings are going to support those false churches, not to mention that North Coast is essentially endorsing heresy. Stay away from this place at all costs! read more

My experience with Pastor Larry was unkind and not caring. Needed more than a great band and music.

This place and the people in it, the pastors and the lessons, have changed the course of my life, my son's life, and my family's life. I would not be the person that I am today without them. They teach in such a way that is so understandable about what the Bible says, and I never understood it before this. Their children's ministries and programs are so fun and happy. It helped my little guy digest God's word throughout his life from all their little lessons. The middle school & high school nights helped shape him into the person I'm so proud of today. Even the adult growth groups have been such a blessing to come to know all these souls and hear their stories and have a safe place. North coast has touched all areas of my life and completely transformed my marriage my sobriety, my outlook and parenting. I pray the Lord continue to bless the ministry and all the people here. My husband and my two sons, grades 1 and 3, began attending NCC Vista first in August 2019. We coached many kids in baseball who came from this church with 100% love for the pastors, community, kids programs, Life Groups, Teens pgms, Community Outreach, and the friendships. I also was referred to this church as my gf in Gilbert, AZ her pastor is dear friends with Pastor Chris Brown. It was clear we were being led here. My husband and I both grew up strict Catholic, and while we had a good experience with religion, we found ourselves not experiencing a genuine relationship with the Holy Spirit, and our kids only growing with what we were teaching but nothing from the church. We both wanted to learn and grow. We also were desiring a community for our kids to rise through, as well as us individually and our for our marriage and dream life. So we came from a local Catholic Church which did not teach or challenge us. I believe if you want to understand, to create, develop and foster an amazing relationship with the Bible and the Trinity you will experience that here. The Pastors are not called there to keep us comfortable. They are called their to lead us to Him. That is palpable in their teachings. They are there to lead a business, yes a church is still a business, but care about us and our growth. They encourage us to worship and tithe because it glorifies the Word. I don't care if they all make $50k or $500k. Their abundance is between them and God. But for me, they are rich beyond measure because they are human pastors that have life, valleys, and obstacles they've overcome in their journey, they walk in transparency, and that is the only way to reach people to their core in order to lead them. All this to say, that August and September we got our feet wet, but once we found our venue (LIVE), our day and time, got the boys dialed into their classes EVERYTHING BEGAN TO CHANGE! Our relationship with the Holy Spirit for each of us has grown, our marriage and friendship has grown, our kids are understanding their spiritual gifts and what it means to be Godfident covered in the Armor of God, our businesses have grown in territory, our DreamSpace and vision for our legacy have grown exponentially. We didn't seek God for those things. We sought God so we could get out of our own way, we just didn't know how. This Church (in Vista for us) has done this and we are eternally grateful. We came to this church 5 times before getting dialed in. We did our part though and also engaged the community. I hope my slightly snarky, but most certainly genuine review moves you to YES. There are 3 Teaching pastors in Vista. They teach differently and each work within their spiritual gifts. You will grow so long as you do your part. Lean in! Unfortunately if you have a baby you are told to sit in the corner against the wall all the way in the back and if your baby makes any noise you must leave the room because they don't want baby noises on the video they're recording. The woman enforcing these rules says them in a bit of a rude and unwelcoming way. My family and I felt excluded especially since this was our first time at this church. I was told I had to walk out of the service to go either watch from a screen outside or in the family room across the way. If I wanted to watch the service from a screen I would have stayed home to watch it. I haven't had an experience at a church where my baby was not welcomed into the main service room. She has always sat with me and no one has ever complained about her baby talk. If she would have cried I would have taken her out myself but she was just making normal baby noises. We will find another church to attend. read more

Hosts many events for kids during the holidays I could understand some people may not like the way certain churches teach the Bible, but that's your preference. A few years ago I was in a group led by a counselor Susan Trueblood. We were building trust and becoming comfortable with each other. On an evening when a few of us were going to share our stories of trauma or hurt, Susan brought in a group of other people we did not know and she prodded us to tell our stories in front of these strangers. I declined at first but she kept on pushing us and I finally acquiesced. I still feel sick about her insistence and sharing my traumatic past with strangers. We found this church online from Japan as we were moving back to the United States (SoCal) and had this as one of six churches to visit. They have services on Saturday evening and several on Sunday, so we decided to check out the "North Coast Live" on Saturday night. We went to the Vista Campus which is the main one and from the friendly child care, to everything else we were impressed. The music before the sermon was great and the sermon was even better! We were fortunate enough to catch Dr. Larry Osborne, the head pastor there. I was going to grill the pastor after the sermon to make sure that their belief structure and ours were on line (the Holy Trinity, etc, etc) and I didn't even have to do that as Pastor Larry answered all my questions in the sermon. We went back the following Saturday and it was Pastor Larry again, another great sermon. The following Saturday we went back again and it was Pastor Chris Brown, a younger and funnier pastor, he was great as well. Long story short, the sermon series was "Tweets from Heaven" (you can find it as well as all their sermons on their very user friendly website: www.northcoastchurch.com). In any case that was almost one year ago. We are now members (although it isn't required) and still love it! The sermons are uplifting and the child care is super too! For a large church (campuses in Vista, Carlsbad, Escondido, Fallbrook and even one in Kailua, Hawaii), it has a small church feel and uses "growth groups" (optional to join) to bring people to get her in small groups. We found out church home and are very thankful! If you are looking for a church, or just curious, I can't say enough great things about the place, give it a try, why not?!? read more

Review of their Parenting Class. I've been to NCC's satellite church in Escondido a few times and saw that they offered a $5 Parenting Class. The only catch was that it was held in their Vista super campus. For $5 bucks, why not!. First off, it's a bit of drive through Visa to get here. On arrival, you see this huge campus of buildings. This was on a Thursday night, so parking was fine. The class was held in the Warehouse building. This building's interior could pose as a local warehouse-style brewery and you wouldn't even know it was a church building. They provided Starbucks coffee. There is also a campus café next door where you can buy other snacks too. They also provided childcare for a fee. A Brief Review - The class was well thought out and included a booklet that basically followed the lecture and had some take home assignments. There were two people lecturing, a husband and wife. Each with their own story telling styles. The class was 2.5 hour long, which I was concerned about because I tend to lose attention after an hour of sitting. :) Even though I thought 2.5 hours was going to be too long, it ended up being not long enough. There was a mad scramble at the end to finish on time. Basically a third of the book was not discussed. They had mentioned that this was originally an 8 hour class, then reduced to 4, then reduced to 2.5.. It really needed to be 4 hours, split over two days. There needed to be more discussion on specific behavioral problems and how to resolve those specific problems. All in all, this was worth the time to come here and listen. There were many helpful learning points including the "Temperament Types" which I felt were very beneficial and spot on. I would attend another seminar here. read more

We have done the small groups, women's retreats, Men's Desert trips, Weekend of Service, Adopt a ornament for the kids at Christmas and more! I was looking up the church website to complete some forms and was surprised to see yelp reviews on church. Churches are like any relationship anyone will ever have. It may or may not work for them even though it does for someone they know. My family and I attended the Vista Campus for about a year before we moved further south and weren't able to get to a service. We now attend the Ramona campus regularly and we absolutely love it. To us, it is home. My children have been in the Kids (VISTA), Jr High, and HS (RAMONA) ministries and it has been amazing to see how they have grown and matured through this church. As 8th graders, they chose going to the church summer and winter camps over the school trip to Washington DC. This is a church where my teenaged children will get up early on a weekend day with zero prodding. If I were to hint at skipping church, they would mutiny to make sure they attend. To me that speaks volumes. The 3 teaching pastors all have their own unique way of instructing but all focus on the fundamental word of God. While I have been involved in churches for more than 30 years, I have yet to hear a sermon that was not insightful to me. Such an Amazing church .. I have only been attending for a few months . I was drawn in by the Divorce Care class they have run by Susan Trueblood . What an amazing person and a licensed Therapist to boot.. Susan is so raw and honest and backs her teaching of the Divorce Care Curriculum with Biblical backing.. I decided to see if any of the other Divorce Care attendees wanted to maybe meet at the live service. Since we are all without a partner and I did not want to go alone. So we did !!! 3 of us met and it was a Great time and service !! Pastor Chris Brown was teaching and just spoke to me in a way I love to be taught .. I decided to also sign up for the Men's conference and was overwhelmed with welcoming and True Biblical teaching along with the True Manly Fun we all had . About 800 guys ,Men of all ages worshiping the Lord at the same time was Breath taking for me .. I have a home church I attend but North Coast will also be a new home of True Christian Fellowship and for me to fill up on my Daily Doses and Small groups even after Divorce Care is Over and Sunday services ... I've been attending for 10 years. Bible preaching church that does not hide the truth. A very laid back, non denominational Christian church. (God doesn't care if you wear flip flops to church ) Three teaching pastors all have their own style and they rotate. So you get a good mix of different styles. The church is big, especially the Vista campus, but they focus on joining small groups called "life groups". This gives a big church a smaller feel. Don't make a judgement after one visit if you are new to the area. Give it a few visits and you'll see that it's great! read more

We come from a traditional pentecostal church family. Was recommended this church by a friend. My husband and I shortly left the service right after the worship. It felt like we were at a concert, you couldn't hear the person next to you. When we first walked in, it was pitch black we didn't even know there was seats in front of us it was so dark. There was smoke and fog everywhere. Also once they asked everyone to pull out their phones all you see is people on Facebook or instagram. Not going to their bible. But on social media. I've been here 2 times before, I've only gone to the Jordan services which are for young adults age 18-25. I absolutely loved the two times prior to tonight's service. The pastor, began speaking on gun control. Trying to balance both sides (liberal & republican) i immediately began to think, isn't it quite odd that they are trying to bring up such a sensitive subject in church, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. He quoted "if you have a gun for a hobby, then great. But if you have a gun for your own personal safety, then you need to re-evaluate where your heart is with God". As a pastor, and to a person who young people look up to, you HAVE to balance both sides and that isn't doing what he preached. I agree that such a sensitive subject needs to be acknowledged, but not at a church service, where i go to connect with God, learn more about him, and praise him! Not a service on gun control. All the things that scare non-Christians are are wrapped up in the personality and practices of the leadship of this church. Judgmental arrogant attitudes: Check! Using the bible as a guilt club: Check! Overemphasis on monetary giving: Check! While the main pastors are fairly good speakers, the content of some of their sermons were frankly sickening as they would tag team preach one week about giving money followed the next week about the importance of obedience to God etc.. Underlying all this would be a not so thinly veiled guilt trip that you are disobeying God if you didn't give your "first fruits" to them.(10% of your income). They have gone so far as to state that if paying for private Christian school is not allowing you to pay the church your "first fruits" then you should remove your children from private school to do it. The lead Pastor has stated publicly in his blog that he checks members giving before answering inquiries and that how much they give determines the content of his answers: http://larryosbornelive.com/ While not specifying names he has publicly(on his blog) referred to members of his church as liars, hypocrites and big hat no cattle Christians if he feels their giving is not sufficient. I would caution any Christian or Non-Christian looking for a church home to stay far away from this church, its twisted doctrine and it's bullying tactics. I was raised a methodist in a stuffy, guilt filled church in rural Kansas. Except for weddings & funerals, I didn't step into a church from the age of 15 to 36. My wife convinced me to try North Coast & we've been going regularly for the past 3 years. I love the energy, honesty & good works that the church supports. I love the fact that flip flops & Chargers jerseys are more common than suits & ties. I love that when I ask a question of a pastor & he doesn't know the answer, he tells me that it is a mystery to him too, instead of becoming defensive & making me feel guilty for having questions or doubts.
