First of all: THREE DOLLAR BOWLING! I am not making this up, and for all the Angelinos reading this review via my page this is not even per game ---- this is ALL FRIGGIN NIGHT! We arrived a little after 9 and midnight rolled around and we were still playing on the same $3 crusted up old bills. There are some negatives however, and this is where the deduction of stars come in. First and foremost those balls were jacked up! Now, I'm no Al Bundy - or extreme bowler - but I know enough about bowling to know that bowling balls should not have half inch chunks missing out of them. I suck at bowling, and this was even throwing off the game of people that I know are good at bowling. Unless you bring your own ball keep it into consideration that it will be hard to find a weight that is good for you (couldn't find anything under 9lbs), or balls without giant chunks missing. The second negative is the bowling shoes were velcro, instead of the traditional lace up, this lead to the shoes (even if they were the correct size) feeling a little bit loose and uncomfortable. If you can get over chipped balls and loose shoes however when you look at the grand scheme of things bowling here is RIDICULOUSLY SUPER DUPER AMAZINGLY CHEAP. We paid $3 per person and bowled for like three and a half hours. Add onto that $5 pitchers of Coors and a mix of super cheesy 90's and up to date current music videos and it all makes for a fun evening.

I like this old school bowling alley in Lafayette. There isn't much to the place from the outside, but inside it your average run of the mill alley. Yes, it is showing it's wear, but on a Friday afternoon 5 of us bowled 3 game w/shoe rental for $40! I thought that was awesome. Plus the lanes were well taken care of and we didn't experience any malfunctions with the equipment. I thought they needed a few more lighter bowling balls and I never understand why when the entire place is empty they put all the separate parties right next to each other (give us all some space!). Music selection seemed to be Loretta Lynn, George Straight, Pasty Cline and the Beatles on loop. I personally loved it. I would go back!

Surly people working, dingy drab interior (replete with the old smell of stale smoke) = classic Lafayette bowling experience.

This controversial mural is the work of The Droops, an Indianapolis-based artist collective who…read morewere commissioned by The Spot to do the piece in 2015. It located on the side of the Spot and overlooks their parking lot. It takes up 2 sections of the bar's side wall. The mural is in great shape but as you can see in the photos, its lower park is obstructed by parked vehicles. It is a collogue of random images that include a guillotine, a beer on a folding chair, a tombstone, a skull, a in a bikini with four eyes holding a beer up, a knife, a clown, a bomb, a trumpet, a cigarette butt, a foot, a face being punched by a fist, a hand holding a knife, and an odd character holding a beer while playing a piano. The mural also depicts a naked woman tied to a tree and male genitalia in between a hotdog bun, which caused quite a site as you can imagine. There were calls by the community to have the offensive piece removed, covered up or fenced off. The change.org petition ended with 20 supporters. At one point the Lafayette police issued a warning that artwork was violation of the city's graffiti ordinance. There was a point during all of this that they used a Mike Pence head (who was governor at the time) to cover the male genitalia. Ultimately, the Spot won and the city decided that the mural was not graffiti and did not meet the criteria for a citation. The mural is standing today. Even though there are a lot of images to digest. The artwork is very nice. This is a provocative piece that definitely generates conversation. You can deiced for yourself what your thoughts on the piece are. Parking to get a closer look at the mural is easy, even though it overlooks a parking lot, the lot is kind of tight. There is however, some free parking pretty close to the mural too. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There of tons of murals to check out in the immediate area.

Indianapolis has several really cool venues for live music (and a few crap ones). I have a soft…read moreplace in my heart for Tufty Clough's Radio Radio, a Fountain Square live music spot since 2001 and absolutely one of my favorite places to hear live music in Indy. Radio Radio is a 21 and over, general admission concert venue that offers table and lounge seating on a first-come/first-serve basis with the rest being standing room only (or sitting in my case, eh?). They offer full bar service and have specialty craft cocktails at select shows. Radio Radio is only open during shows with doors opening an hour before the first act is scheduled to play. It's a smoke-free facility, though it's my understanding you can smoke out back. Radio Radio has a really killer vibe with a weaving together of style, substance, retro, and probably a few other things. I don't get to Radio Radio nearly enough, but every time I go I'm like "Man, I need to come here more often." There are free parking lots in various locations around Fountain Square along with street parking in spots. Curb cuts are plentiful in Fountain Square, though it is an older part of the city so there are occasional sidewalk cracks. The front entrance is perfectly accessible and the venue itself is fairly solid, though the "Standing Room Only" shows can be a challenge. My understanding is they'll try to work with you with advance notice, though I have to be honest and say I've never had any difficulties as without exception I've found Radio Radio crowds to be respectful of wheelchair users when they show up. I've always been able to see, though I do typically arrive early just to make sure. Radio Radio's sound system was updated a few years ago and the sound is extremely awesome now. Acts range from local bands to up-and-coming regional and national acts or bands with more of a cult following. Concert capacity is right around 250. There's also this incredibly beautiful winding bar. Employees are friendly and helpful, drink prices are fair (especially for music venues), solid craft beer options, and I just love this entire vibe. It is worth noting that Radio Radio does not do food. If you don't know David "Tufty" Clough, he was the longtime bassist for Toxic Reasons and also for Zero Boys. He was also one of my first artist interviews when I was in college (so, yes. I'm a longtime fan). He also used to own Broad Ripple's Future Shock. This is an awesome venue and one of the better mid-sized options here in Indy. If you've never seen a show, I highly recommend it.
