There was a bar to hang out at and they had set up tables so that people could sit and eat. The building itself was rather small but was fine for the event. Speeches were made, prayers were said and there was a 50/50 raffle. I checked out the main meeting room and it was just what a person would expect. I have no pictures because that would have been weird considering no one knew me. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men's group so to join that club you need to be male and a practicing Catholic. Im female and Jewish so that leaves me out but if I am invited back for a special event, I will happily show up.

For a clear reason, they are a well oiled machine. You can volunteer your time or become a a foster for pups, a trainer and more! The love for community and service is abundant and apparent. I was fortunate enough to attend their "Recognition Day" event. They allowed a self guided tour through the facilities, you could meet trainers and campers, puppies and adult dogs. Some being trained during the event and some old timers just doing their jobs. It is clearly a well organized and loved organization.

We arrived around 6:00 PM and joined the line to enter. As we got in, our tickets were scanned by fever staff. The usher brought us to our seats in Zone C. Seating is assigned on a first come first served basis in each zone. Our seats were good and had good visibility of the stage. The stage and the auditorium was filled with electric candles that had a warm and flickering glow. About 6:30 PM, the concert opened with Coldplay - Clocks. Then, the Highline String Quartet introduced themselves and talked us through the program. Some of the songs they played were Imagine Dragons - Radioactive, Coldplay - Fix You, Imagine Dragons - Eyes Closed, Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar, Coldplay - The Scientist, and Coldplay - Sky Full of Stars. As we approached the top of the hour, the Highline String Quartet asked the audience to make some noise to see if there were more Coldplay or Imagine Dragons fans. Coldplay won and they played Viva la Vida and did Imagine Dragons - Believer as an encore. The whole concert was a beautiful and magical experience. I was in awe of the music by the Highline String Quartet composed of 3 violinists and 1 cellist. Looking forward to attending more Candlelight concerts! CM Performing Arts Center is located in Lighthouse Commons, a group of businesses along Montauk Highway, and there are plenty of parking spots.

Visit Date: May 14, 2020…read more I've been trying to visit different nature preserves and parks to hike in when I do my Thursday hiking now that I have more time to exercise with this whole virus. So I came here for a recent hike. Technically I snuck in here while it was still closed because I walked under the gate that was across the way you enter the property, but when I left I walked out of an exit that was in the woods around the property so technically I could have gotten on the property anyway. I didn't vandalize anything or cause a disruption so hopefully whoever reads this review won't try to arrest me for being on the premises in the morning while they were closed. Anyway I had a great time, I did almost two miles of hiking, I enjoyed all the nature, looked at the mansion, took a lot of pictures and had a good peaceful time while listening to my audiobook. I'd definitely come back here again. Long Island doesn't really have mountainous places to hike but the nature preserves and forest areas are pretty awesome in certain places. The environmental association is a place I'd recommend for hiking.

The Gus Truck travels so I've only been to this Central Islip location…read more Each time I go it's mainly been me, Ruben, Kate, Melissa & Paul aka Linda who is Ruben's friend. Ruben works the outside & gets the names while the rest of us work the inside of the truck handing out breakfasts to the families. The families get to choose cold cereal or oatmeal if it's available. We make up bags of assorted breakfast items. Granola bars, juice, milk, fruit cups., etc. Everything you need including spoons. I really enjoy being able to help out others who are not as fortunate to have a good meal whenever they want. I love the fact that LI Cares affords you the ability to personally hand out the food directly to the people who need it. No wondering where your money goes, hoping it's actually reaching the people. It is. The appreciation shows on their face when you hand them that bag. Everyone is kind & gracious. So for me it's a win win situation. Everyone including the volunteers leaves with a smile on their face. From what I've experienced Long Island Cares is a great organization that directly helps & effects the community. Check them out in your spare time. Giving back is so fulfilling! Especially if you have a great crew like Denis, Ruben, Kate, Melissa, & Paul aka Linda to work with. I can totally seeing this being a complete hoot when Ruben, PaulLinda, and Melissa on the truck. Dennis may think I'm a little too wired for the morning but it's quite alright. Hahah. Unfortunately Christina and I were on the truck for a short amount of time because our big rush was when we first opened up the truck. But let me tell you... it is so fulfilling to see the community you're helping out. Everyone was pleasant and grateful for our smiling faces on the truck giving them their breakfast. Like I will continue to say next time you guys need me just let me know and I'll hopefully be able to help out. Plus the laughs... if y'all know Christina and that infectious laugh you know it's a good time. So thanks y'all for letting me jump aboard. :)

Well now they're under new and greedy management and the prices are pretty much retail. What a huge disappointment. They'll learn their lesson when the stock stays on the floor forever. I can't stand greedy people!
