The food was good. Service was a bit slow but that was understandable considering that there were a lot of Skip orders during the time we went. There is a unique taste to this restaurant that is not the same as other Chinese restaurants.

Another good find on low budget Chinese breakfast. Noodle soup and a dim sum dish for less then $7. Milk tea is $2 for hot and $3 for cold. I recommend not to order the drink. Just drink water. Spend the extra $2 or $3 on coffee would be a better choice as the milk tea taste like water + milk. Noodle soup don't expect much for that price. Broth and the toppings are great but the rice noodle was way too mushy. Chicken feet is good. Will come back for the price if I am on a tight budget. The lady, I think she's the manager, is soooooo nice and professional. She came to me and check up on the food which I never see this type of service in any Chinese restaurant in Winnipeg. Smile all the way and gave good suggestions. 1 of the star is for her exceptional service.

Another favorite place for dim sum. This place is always busy so you know it has good food. You do have to order the dim sum dishes on an order sheet but they do give you a menu complete with pictures, if you need help. It's located by the University of Manitoba and the city's football stadium so this place gets packed easily. Parking is a pain. There are limited spots in front due to the restaurant located in a strip mall. There is additional parking behind the auto shop behind the strip mall, but then it's a long trek back to the restaurant. I actually think it's a good walk to burn off the delicious calories though!

dim sum combo c: deep fried shrimp dumpling, bbq pork buns, pan fried pork dumpling, shrimp dumpling, middle is shiu mai

North Garden is not my fave for Chinese dinners but for dim sum, it's nice that you can make reservations on the weekend and get a table without too long of a wait. The price and quality of the dim sum is really good compared to the larger Chinatown competitor. For three people, our bill came out to a total of $35 after tax and tips and we still had some stuff to take home. I like their dim sum combos ($10.45) - there are three combos to choose from. I like combo c, which includes 2 of each item: shrimp dumplings (har gaw), shiu mai dumplings (pork), pan fried pork dumplings, BBQ pork buns and deep fried shimp dumplings. To me, that's more than enough for one person and if you have two people, just add on a couple of smaller dim sum dishes or get some noodles or rice dishes to add on. Their steamed scallop dumplings ($3.95) is a little misleading in the name as it's really just a shrimp dumpling with a thin slice of scallop on top but it's still good. Their dumplings, no matter which one you get is stuffed generously. The dumpling skin is pretty much similar to most other dim sum places. I do enjoy their BBQ pork buns - soft and fluffy buns with a not too sweet interior. The pan fried taro root cake ($2.95) had a good flavour and wasn't too greasy. Service is pretty decent. Parking is a little tough near the restaurant but there's more parking against the fence just past the Pita Pit.

I was really happy to find a place for good Chinese food in Winnipeg!! I would have given this place 4 stars, but I wasn't too pleased with the fried rice with Chinese sausage. The sausage was not crispy enough, and the rice was too sticky...yes...rice can be too sticky...LOL! Other than that, I enjoyed the dim sum a lot. If you're looking for authentic Chinese food this is the place to go for sure!

Bad service. Cost to expensive for the amount you get. The quality of sticky rice used to be in bamboo now it's in leaves says my friend who used to eat here often. Not as fillin as before. Service is not with a smile. English is not to well either.

We love coming here for our fill of Dim Sum. Make sure you ask for hot chilli oil. Also their pineapple buns are out of this world.

Wow this place is a gem. Cute on the inside and practical. The gentleman was very helpful and made…read moresome great recommendations. The spicy deep fried chicken was so crispy with a good kick, but not overpowering. The chow mein was delicious as well. The star of the show for me was the deluxe wonton soup which had a flavorful broth, meaty wontons, chicken, bbq pork slices, shrimp and veggies. My kids and I couldn't get enough. Highly recommend

Came here to satisfy my craving for Chinese food…read more Parking is available in the front, as well as on the side streets. The inside is super-dated, and a bit beaten up. Typical diner decor. You can probably host a giant part up to 30 people here, though I'm not sure why you'd want to. They have $6 lunch specials on weekdays. This is what I really like about such diners. The value is always excellent. I had the lemon chicken combo, which included the items below: Wonton soup - straight up pork. Some shrimp or something else would've been nice. Typical soup but the wontons were a bit on the salty side. Lemon chicken - 4 large pieces, in really tasty batter. Covered in sesame seeds. Excellent portion size. Beef stir fry chop suey - tastes exactly as it sounds. Mostly cabbage and broccoli. Tasted plain but not bland. Plain fried rice - again, tastes exactly as it sounds. Looks like they use soy as flavouring. I left stuffed. Not sure if I'd come here everyday, but this place definitely fits under "cheap and tasty".
