Extremely Unprofessional and Unreliable Service I recently had an unfortunate experience with Mike, owner of North Georgia Garage Doors, particularly with a service provided by Mike. Not only did he not inform me about a week-long delay, but when I called to inquire, I was met with a defensive attitude and excuses instead of a sincere apology. Just in case you don't read the end I want to say clearly I don't feel safe around this man and can't imagine my wife being alone with him as he is a real bully. (I'm a 30ish year old male) Communication with Mike was extremely frustrating. He not only failed to keep me informed about the delay but also displayed a dismissive attitude when confronted about the missed deadlines. Instead of addressing my concerns professionally, he responded with unnecessary rudeness and cursing. Mike's unprofessional conduct extended beyond communication. He arrived earlier than the agreed-upon time, left abruptly, and was outright disrespectful, claiming his time was more valuable. I got him to come back after a really unpleasant call with him. This behavior, coupled with his indifference towards my concerns, made me question why I was working with him. The service itself was subpar. Despite agreeing upon specific details, Mike neglected the agreed-upon weather stripping for the door, dismissing it as an "upgrade" without my consent. This lack of transparency and failure to deliver what was initially promised left the job feeling incomplete and unsatisfactory. In summary, my experience with North Georgia Garage Doors, particularly with Mike, was disappointing and unprofessional. The lack of punctuality, disrespectful communication, and failure to deliver on promised services have left me feeling unsatisfied and unsafe around this individual. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to look elsewhere for a more reliable and professional option. We hired Mike to replace our springs. That went well so I asked him to replace the rubber seal. I was told it wasn't standard & he would order it. Several weeks went by and no Mike. I contacted him & was told he was waiting for other calls in my area. The business is in Cumming so not far from me. This made no sense. Then communication quit altogether. I told him I would find someone else & I did when there was no response.. I called Balanced Garage Doors who came out the very next day, had the seal on the truck & replaced it. Response to owner comment: Mike, please check your text messages. I replied within 1 minute of you texting a simple "Hello" which I guess was your way of saying you were here, but I didn't get a response until I tried texting again later (see attached screenshot). Also, why wouldn't you have either called me or rung the doorbell if you didn't feel the text response was fast enough? We don't make it a habit of keeping our gate open even when expecting people and always open it immediately when notified that someone is there. We called this company to fix our garage doors and was told they'd let us know when they could come. A week went by with nothing, so we contacted them again and was told they'd come that day. No one showed up. We tried one more time and took off from work to meet him when he said he would come by. No one showed up again and when we contacted him to ask if he was still coming, he said he had already come by and couldn't get in. We were here the whole time and didn't get any notifications on our ring doorbell. He texted "hello" which we replied back to immediately and asked if he was here with no response. Later when I texted him again is when he said he had already come and gone because he couldn't get in and that he wouldn't come back because he told us he was coming. Absolutely no customer service. I called requesting a quote for a snapped garage door mounting system. Mike responded quickly and said he would be able to come out the next day. However, when I gave him my number and politely asked, when can you come and take a look (thinking, like any other professional service in the world, that I could get a quote to compare vendors), he incredulously texts me, "Come and look? We come out upon being hired" Ok...so I could hire you, sight unseen, and you repair the damage and charge me basically anything you want? Unlike a plumber, electrician, handyman etc, you never give a quote? I absolutely will not hire someone unless I know exactly what I am getting into. What is to prevent this person from messing me over? If you want a rude uncaring experience quick, sure I guess these guys work. But I refuse to work with someone that is downright rude. Called in late July, and the owner said he'd be at my house for a repair on Saturday morning. He didn't show up by lunch so I called and he said I wasn't on his schedule because I didn't text him. I told him I didn't know that I was supposed to text him and he berated me saying he has hundreds of clients and they all know to text him. He was being rude so I told him I would find another service provider and I hung up. He called me back and said that he apologized for the misunderstanding and that he would try to come out that afternoon. He never showed up. I guess I was supposed to text him after I spoke with him because he doesn't write his verbal commitments down. It's too bad because based on the reviews here he has the ability to do really good work. After numerous texts, that were not answered and calls made promising to come within the week to fix, door is still dented and now it is August. He came the next day, working around my busy schedule, and fixed the door in 2 minutes. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I am a turn key contractor and I called Mike to discuss pricing for six (6) new garage doors and five (5) additional I needed repairs for. He answered the phone and I began to explain what I needed. One sentence into my explanation he started yelling about how I was a salesman and that I was lying to him. Certainly not the kind of guy I would want working for me on my projects. I sent him a picture of my business card with an explanation yet still not even an apology. The spring in my garage door broke and I needed it fixed on a Saturday. I called North Georgia Garage Door as they are listed as doing business on Saturday's. Mike answered immediately and was able to have it repaired within the same hour that I had called. The door works better than it has in the past, he replaced my single spring with two springs and also made sure to correct some noise issues (squeaking) that the door had previously. This company is totally unprofessional and selective to who they want to service. I spoke with Mike today thought we were having a good conversation when suddenly the guy starts yelling about the owner just putting prices on thumbtack without knowing the details, he asked when can he come for estimate, I said today, he said "dude, it's not like I'm just sitting around in alpharetta". He seemed upset that I did not know the size of my garage door and went on a rant that seemed sorta condensing then all I heard was a click. At the same time Another call came in from another garage door contractor from Proline, who by the way was a true professional and will certainly get my business now. Any-who- when I got off I remembered the call had dropped with Mike so I wanted to give him a call back to apologize for the drop call. When I called I apologized for the drop call and informed him I had sent a picture of the garage door and that it was a good point to have the size. The first words out his mouth was "the call did not drop, I said I was no longer interested in your business". I said, so you hung up on me? He said I'm just not interested in your business. Wow!!! Why would you advertise on thumbtack as away to screen who you want to do business with in such a way. This country is so racially charged these days that people even sacrifice good business to say what? We are no longer in the days of slavery, these are times where people should be treated with dignity and respect because it's the right thing to do and not because you work for a company that you didn't think would here about this. I would not recommend this company to my friends, family, colleagues, city officials, school board or anyone who I feel would be disrespected by this nonsense of screening folks to do service with based on how they sound now, forget about looks.
