The gardens are beautiful, there are a lot of signs for species names, lots of interesting trees and it would take a long time to see the whole place. The restaurant there is also very good. I absolutely loved this place and if I lived locally I'd be there as often as I could. They have so many different Bracychiton! I never knew there were so many different ones. Lots of Banyans, Ficus, Baobabs. If you are a tree lover like me, then forget the City Botanical Garden and head straight here. I had been to the City one earlier today and wished I had gone here first and spent the whole day there. There are lots of BIG lizards around. And spider webs! The are small lakes/ponds. There are lots of undercover areas with tables and chairs, as well as big thick trees to provide lots of shade, so you can sit back and enjoy the city views. As we arrived and I stepped out of the car grumbling I was greeted by a surprisingly beautiful view. All this time I've been living in Brisbane, and I've been out to Sandgate for various reasons more than once, and I never knew this was here. The cycleway/footpath to be graced with our presence ran along the bay; it was incredibly picturesque. It's a very popular place with people of all ages cycling, walking, skateboarding and jogging along the path. There are picnic tables the entire way along and towards either end are small parks with sheltered tables and amenities. It's not especially long, approximately 2km, so if you're in training for a marathon it's probably not ideal. Although it's really pretty, so maybe you could just do several laps.

Wish I could agree with previous posts but our experience recently was terrible…read more We ventured down just before dawn with the intention of going out onto the rock wall to experience the serenity and beauty of day breaking over the beautiful Bramble Bay. Alas, we were shocked to see the carpark at Moora park overflowing (still pitch dark) as as we walked down the ramp we were overwhelmed by a number of exercise groups covering most of the area and trainers bellowing out commando style orders. I have nothing against being fit but these exercise groups have stolen the serenity and beauty of daybreak in this beautiful area. We decided to walk along the top of the cliffs only to then be subjected to numerous groups of very loud (and quite foul mouthed) bicycle riders riding along the road. I feel sorry for the people who live close by and are subjected to this noise assult so early in the day.

Split bike and pedestrian walkways and ample transit access make this area a frequent stop for commuters and tourists, and numerous attractions abound nearby, but here's the really good news: it's in Brisbane. Brisbane is not that crowded. So, unlike some of the public parks and water-based attractions in the really major cities (sorry, Brisbanites), you can actually find some space here, even during peak hours in the summer. The only reason not to come is if you've run out of sunscreen.

Back in the day, the trammies used to stand on this very corner, chatting to locals and passers by. Across the road from the park you'll now see cool boutiques and cafes, but back then it was grocers and butchers stores rather than cutting edge fashion and urban hipsters sipping lattes. It was a really hot, disgustingly humid day when I passed this lovely little shady oasis in the heart of Paddington so I stopped to get a drink of water (there are a couple of handily placed water fountains) and sit in the shade for a while. Just until the sweat dried! It was a lovely respite from the hustle and bustle around me, and a brief respite from the pounding sun.

Most locals know Trammies Corner's origins, however - steeped back in the days when Brisbane actually had trams. (Why did they ever get rid of them? A shame.) At present, Trammies Corner is a small, pretty stretch of green grass with fittingly hip structural furnishings, fitting in with the cool Paddington vibe. Trammies' overlooks the gully of Paddington and it's a great place to relax. If you're going to bring along the kiddies, however, they may be bored. There's no swing sets or playground activities here. Those who have had enough relaxation time might want to venture across the road to browse Paddington's impressive antique stores and the very inviting Black Cat Books & Cafe.

Personal trainers, tai chi instructors use the large grassed areas. And there is a wonderful range of new bbq's and seating down by the river. Visit it often as the roses seem to go all year. The Farmers Market is there every second Saturday and it booms! Take a picnic, a ball, a kite, there is plenty of room. It's flat so easy for the elderly, it's also right there for the Free music or comedy from the Powerhouse. And you can keep walking along from the Park using the fabulous riverwalk all the way to Teneriffe. Just the best spot in Brissie for a weekend.

A nice sentiment for a nice park, which serves as a favourite spot for locals to view the Riverfire spectacular and other fireworks displays throughout the year. It's also a popular spot for couples and groups to populate with a picnic rug and basket to enjoy some food and drink over views of the sunset. Recently they established a community garden here, growing a variety of herbs, chillies and what look like lime trees.
