Wonderful. We've been exploring the local parks, and now that my disability pass has arrived I can get into MD state parks for free. However, it would have only cost $3 for us to enter, which seems like a deal or what is available here - including swimming. Although it's June, it really wasn't warm enough to swim today, but there were still several families there, making the most of their day. The fully paved jetty is a delight. I didn't feel anywhere near as nervous traveling to the end of it as I do with most piers. There's also a great pier, not made of wood so I didn't have to worry about a tire falling through or any of the other things I worry about when I go to Stansbury Park, or other parks that clearly don't get the budget that this national park gets. And so much of it is accessible!! Had a great time today. Normally I write more, but I think the pictures say it all. PS: Once upon a time this was an amusement park, with three rollercoasters.

We love this state park with lots of waterfront on the Chesapeake Bay. Filled with hiking trails, beautiful beaches, picnic tables and grills, and a Visitor Center filled with the history of the war of 1812 and of when there was an amusement park called Bay Shore. We feel like we are taking a step back in time whenever we visit since the park is filled with so many remnants of the past. It is beautiful to visit there in every season. There is also a trail that takes you through a huge pond and marshy area that is a welcome surprise where there are paths that take you by a beaver dam as well as sheltering many birds and water fowl. We always meet bird watchers looking for a bald eagle and photographers looking to capture a rare bird or a pretty view.

[Coronavirus review] North Point (I would have called it East Point; not sure what the namers were using as a frame of reference) is a wetland on the outskirts of Baltimore. There is some beach, but it's rocky and inhospitable. During peak pandemic, beaches are closed anyway so you're not missing out on much. The park was open when I went (and in theory, you were still supposed to self-pay the small admission fee, which I did). There are some trails through wetlands that go a decent distance. I have been twice and have not been mobbed by mosquitoes, but I have found the trails to be less than well-maintained and inundated with water. The old powerhouse is an interesting ruin (currently bearing some rather apt Pennywise the Clown street art among other graffiti), and the reflections off the still inland water are nice (though I'm guessing when the weather warms up, the bugs will obscure the view). There's not a ton going on, but it's green, quiet, and outdoors and it's not that far from B-more. I would also add that Fort Howard Memorial Park and Veterans Park are nearby (and I don't feel like making a separate Yelp page as they are small), but the fort has more water views (and more wind) and the veterans park has a tiny beach of actual sand, and if I'm going to drive out to this peninsula, I say I might as well stop at those spots too.

My rating is based on the trail at the park. It costs $3 to get into the park. Cash only. The trail near the park entrance is a must-see. Things I saw: * marshes * beach * abandoned old power house * small cliffs * old pier The grade is mostly flat. Super easy hike with lots of awesome sights. Besides the trail, the park also has a small beach for visitors and a new pier that is beautiful. People were allowed to fish off the pier. There is some history at this park that is worth reading about.

I had no clue that this state park on the water was so close to canton! It only took us 15 minutes to get there and it was really pretty. We went on a Monday so it was quiet, which was nice. It was too hot (90+) to go hiking, so we just roamed around and looked at the different areas. Note: the visitors center is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we couldn't see that either. There is a small patch of sand for the beach area and overall it was really beautiful. I plan to go back soon and check out the trails!

$3 entrance fee. Plentiful parking. There is a fishing pier and a nice "beach" area and is a peaceful break from the city. Looks like they have a pavilion where you can do events. The trails themselves are pretty flat and are easy for a nice walk. The trail map sled y "observation points" which didn't have views of anything so it was confusing. However there are some nice things to look at doing the regular paths. Be careful, we did see a snake in the trail so look where you are walking.

Not sure what's with all the naysayers here. This is a nice park with easy hikes and it's a super close drive from the city! I'm glad to have it nearby, especially on days when I just want to get out and see some nature. I'm not sure why people are saying it's so dirty. I think it's well kept. It's a marsh for sure so it does get muddy. If that's not your thing, then don't go. I just wear good boots. The only thing is it might not be a good idea to go after a heavy rain/snow as some of the trails do flood.

But that also means there aren't any lifeguards or the services that you would find here during the summer months. Swim at your own risk. We weren't there for swimming, though it was 80 degrees and there were several people splashing around and having a good time. There was also a church baptism going on, which made my heart smile. There seemed to be many family and church members there to witness and celebrate, and I love seeing that kind of support and community. I also like the idea of feeling that close to God that you would take that step, to hopefully strengthen that bond. Ariel, the little mermaid, was also there, randomly, having a photo shoot. We wandered a bit, for about an hour. In the back of the park there's a crumbling path that we all decided was some Indiana Jones sh!t. There's some caution tape there, but it's just flapping in the shrubbery, not doing much good. Most of the park is quite wheelchair accessible, though several of the paved paths are so steep that I didn't venture down them. I could have, if I had been determined. I like that option. The playground is looking a little worse for wear. I didn't get close enough to take any pictures because the gnats are serious right now. But there were also some lovely butterflies. Those are always nice to see, especially with their populations dwindling. We've been checking out a lot of local parks these days, and this one is pretty decent. Gunpowder Park: Hammerman Area off Ebenezer Road is still our top rated park, though. I'd put Rocky Point third, after North Point State Park in Dundalk (that jetty!). Would recommend

My mom, boyfriend and I brought some take-away to the park for lunch. There are several picnic tables available, on a concrete patio, overlooking the water. It was a perfect shaded spot, listening to the lapping of the water against the shore, watching a flock of geese feed in the distance on the water. During the popular season it seems that you can rent kayaks, paddle boats, and jetskis. There's usually a lifeguard and some other stuff, but we visited in mid-September and on a Wednesday, so it was quiet. My favorite thing ever though was that they have one of those mats that make it possible for wheelchair users to travel across the sand, and to the packed sand near the water. I have seen these in actual Miami, and Myrtle Beach but neither of those places actually took them seriously. The one in Coney Island was very close to the one I experienced in Middle River, the mat ends only feet from the water. If you're an able-bodied person, bless you, but you cannot understand the utmost delight in finding a place that remembers that people in wheelchairs exist, and also love to be near the water. It's absolutely wonderful to be remembered and accommodated. Loved my afternoon here. Would recommend.
