A perfect park on a perfect spring day! The husband and I were in town to watch the Giants play against the Orioles and it was a beautiful Saturday. We stopped by for brunch at a place nearby and did the approx. 3 mile route around the park. There was a kite festival and there were a bunch of families and friends flying kites and enjoying the day. People were picnicking and playing music- really enjoying the spring day. If you have not been to this park, I highly recommend. It's a great place to spend the weekend. read more

Hubby found this spot online so we can see the pagoda so during our visit to DC and it was a really cool spot to check out. We got to see it in the daytime and then in the evening when the lights got lit up which was really beautiful as well. No restroom available. I have little ones who needed to go and there was no restroom in sight. I even asked locals who were walking their dogs and they said there was none. Overall, the park is pretty big. Kids playground is a bit rundown. The floors needs to be redone. It is a tripping hazard in my opinion especially for the little ones. I do like that it's gated off and you so you can't lose your kid since they are inside the gated playground area. Overall, its a cool little spot to stop by as a local or even as a tourist. read more

Honestly, it's kind of amazing how BIG Patterson Park is. Even though I live relatively close, I can say I don't think I've walked the entire perimeter, and I only just saw the Pagoda last year. I've played bocce with Volo in the past, attended Silent Reading Club, and was most recently there for the Lantern Festival put on by the Creative Alliance. Friends of Patterson Park and the neighborhood communities of Butcher's Hill take such great care of this amazing natural space. I also really appreciate that they renamed the pagoda to the observatory for cultural sensitivity. They also have a free LIBRARY. It's honestly such an amazing place to get out of the city and be with nature and do a lot of events and activities. read more

This is probably my third time attending this annual event. Brewfest! I always have a good time. They have numerous food trucks available. As well as several bands and vendors. Parking is usually a challenge. We arrived pretty early so we found very close by street parking was available. They had a water station for hydration. They also offered for VIP tickets. Breakfast drinks which I tried the apple cider & champagne ( mimosa ) I know right. The sound of it had me intrigued. So I had to try it. It was good. Also had Breakfast bites. You can bring blankets and chairs. We always find a nice spot to sit and bring our own chairs. You get a glass to take home. VIP also came with 15 drink tickets. Each ticket was just the right amount of alcohol for me. Enjoyed every minute of it & the weather was great!! Looking forward to it again next year :) read more

We back Outside!!!! And I found the perfect park with a hint of historic nostalgia and activity utopia. I recently found myself at Patterson Park and while looking up the address - I bumped into the historical information and was intrigued. Come on and take a walk with me and let me give you a quick history of Patterson Park!!! The park, which was a battleground between American and British soldiers (after British soldiers embarked on DC and burned some areas on the way to Fort McHenry) is huge with lots of space and activities. Back then, this space was occupied by American troops (AT the ready) for the British soldiers. The British soldiers backed out and all was well again (HA). Years later, the grounds would become a hospital during the Civil War - with all the space it was a perfect "camp" for union troops. Although the park has several amenities, the observatory or pagoda (as it was once called - as it has history of its own but I will let you google that). It was renovated or restored and I really can't imagine it being any more beautiful than it is now. Anyhow, there are plenty things to do at the park. They have basketball courts, dog park, play grounds, and a rec center (the usual) BUT they also have a casino, ice skating ring, boat lake, and stadium. If that isn't enough - they feature so many activities. I was there for the Propel Yoga event and it was super nice! It gave summer relaxing for sure! The seating in the shade, nice free water, free yoga mats, and free classes were a hit!! Did I mention FREE because I feel like I forgot. What fun times!!! read more

Patterson Park is one of the most precious gems of Charm City. It's huge, it's green, it's spacious, it's gorgeous in all weather and all seasons, and it's a well-loved spot by everyone in the city. Whether you're a native Baltimorean or you're visiting from out of town, I recommend a stroll through the park, maybe even a picnic if the weather is right. There are businesses all around the perimeter of the park, including restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. Last night's Observatory lighting was such an amazing community event. Sooo many people were gathered for a beloved holiday tradition, with vendors, food trucks, music, and more. The live music was a great touch and the singers were INCREDIBLE - their renditions of Christmas classics really put everyone in the holly jolly mood, especially when everyone was singing along together. Last but not least, thank you to Friends of Patterson Park, the non-profit organization that promotes, protects, and advocates for our gorgeous park and fun events like these. read more

This central area of Baltimore offers a variety of outdoor activities, combining manicured gardens and objects of art with wilder looking areas, including a wetland with a boardwalk. There are a variety of sports facilities as well. It is easy to park (at least on the edges of the park which are farther from the harbor, and to walk here from Fells Point. It is a good idea to walk through the park on the way to one's visit to the more crowded and touristy areas, and there is plenty of reason to stop and enjoy the sights. read more

Yelp fam!!! I'm hitting y'all with another review! Mental health has become more and more important in these weird times we are in. As a part of a pledge to enjoy life and keep my mind in balance. I do weekly walks around Patterson park to clear my head. This recent walk was super helpful, a lot has been going on from politics, holidays, work & oh yea the pandemic. Needless to say it's easy to get bogged down. I took a lap around the park, soaked up some sun on a secluded bench, took some photos & posted up on a rock to just reflect. This was so peaceful, just positives vibes & nature. It was truly what I needed to reset my thoughts and get realigned. Patterson park is great for all of the above. if you're feeling angst , bogged down or just need a break take a walk around , find a spot to sit, enjoy the sun and just decompress! Awesome family friendly park in the city. Bring corn (or whatever you choose) to feed the ducks in the pond. Great playgrounds - one for smaller kids, and one for bigger kids. Stroller friendly-ish. A nice oasis from the bustle of the city. Architect/designer also designed Central Park in NYC so there are some similarities. Dog friendly and family friendly. With softball fields, tennis courts, soccer fields and indoor field. Lots of community events like the lighting of the pagoda around the holidays and in the spring with beautiful cherry blossoms around. I did want to walk in a large park and this one was one very massive park. I loved all things you could do in this park-like feed the ducks, running, biking, swimming, and much more. Here is the information on this beautiful park Patterson Park is an urban park in Southeast Baltimore, Maryland, United States, adjacent to the neighborhoods of Canton, Highlandtown, Patterson Park, and Butchers Hill. It is bordered by East Baltimore Street, Eastern Avenue, South Patterson Park Avenue, and South Linwood Avenue. The Patterson Park extension lies to the east of the main park and is bordered by East Pratt Street, South Ellwood Avenue, and Eastern Avenue. Patterson Park was established in 1827 and named for William Patterson 1752-1835. The park consists of open fields of grass, large trees, paved walkways, historic battle sites, a lake, playgrounds, athletic fields, a swimming pool, an ice skating rink, and other signature attractions and buildings. At 137 acres Patterson Park is not the city's largest park; however, it is nicknamed the "Best Backyard in Baltimore. Attractions and activities Patterson Park has four main entrances at each corner. Its notable attractions include the boating lake where fishing is permitted, the marble fountain, the Pulaski Monument, and the Patterson Park Observatory. The Patterson Park Observatory was built in 1891 as an observation tower for viewing the city and is still open to visitors. The park is also home to the Virginia S. Baker Recreation Center. Decent park. Free admission. However, the city of Baltimore needs to take a better care of the landscape here and also make sure the area is clean. We came here one weekend and noticed several spots around the park where there were larger grass spots. Unfortunately, we saw a decomposed rodent on the ground with flies swarming around it. Wished the county would clear it up. Seems like it's been there for a while. A bright spot here that is much see is the pagoda. It's really nice and free for visitors to walk up the stairs. What a lovely day for a stroll in the park. We went here to eat our takeout and parked on the eastern side of the park. There are paved walking paths along the outside of the park but the main entrances with be accessible for those with mobility aids. There are a good number of benches centered around the main entrances and the Pagoda. The park is huge and a great spot to go as an alternative to Druid. There are a variety of structures and historical landmarks as this park was once a field hospital and army camp during the revolutionary war. Cannons, ruins and a lovely pond are all must sees. The main attraction is course is the Pagoda tower. It's gorgeous and is normally open for folks to walk up and view the city. Due to COVID though it was closed when we went on a Saturday. The surrounding neighborhoods all have a rich history and Canton is one of them. I'm really looking forward to coming back and walking through more of the park or doing a workout. You could easily come here for a picnic and then stroll into the neighborhoods for a drink. The park does have a nice playground so if you're looking for a place to bring the kiddos look no further! read more

This park is HUGE. Walking through the entire park will take at least an hour. The giant pagoda is the key features of this park, but the sidewalks are nice for people trying to go for a relaxing walk or run. Unfortunately the pagoda is currently closed, but the rest of the park is definitely worth checking out! Patterson Park feels completely different compared to the rest of Baltimore. There's a huge field that children are constantly running around at. A children daycare is also nearby. A section of the park is full of vegetation found in marshes that you can walk through using the plank walkway. Ducks and geese are bobbing in the body of water nearby. Patterson Park is a great park close to Canton, Fells Point, Upper Fells, etc. Great for running, walking, exploring! It has athletic fields (I'm not sure if they're open now due to COVID) as well. On a Saturday afternoon, we saw lots of people enjoying the grounds and paths. Some of the paths aren't exactly level, so be careful if you're running, and there is so construction going on in some areas of the park. However, it's still a nice park to walk around and explore if you're in the area! And don't miss the cool pagoda (the main architectural feature of the park)! read more

Love love love Patterson park. The circumference is a little smaller than what I'm used to since I normally go to centennial but you can make up for it by making a couple laps around the park. I went here with my friend and her dog - dog walkers be warned that you'll run into at least 20 dogs at any given time because that's how popular this park is. I personally plan on using it to help train my own puppy who's a little leash reactive at the moment. You honestly can't go wrong with taking a stroll around Patterson. There's a lake that you can stop by and watch the ducks, and in the summertime it's surrounded by cherry blossoms. There's even an enclosed dog park for people that just want to let their dogs run around freely without a leash. And it's definitely a plus that in the summertime you have one of the best Baltimore ice cream shops (BMore Licks) open right alongside the park! read more

One of my favorite things in any city I live in is to find a quiet place where I can go get in a good walk or even sit out for a picnic and Patterson Park is one I enjoy. Huge park located within the residential neighborhood of Canton. Lots of paths for running, jogging, biking, and walking. Plenty of green spaces for panic and sport activities. We saw a recreation center and an Observatory that was closed. We didn't see any free standing bathroom facilities and water stations. No dedicated parking lot for visitors, only street parking which was tricky to find. This park is a perfect place to visit during nice weather. read more

Beautiful park, no matter the weather or season. I love the pagoda; great for photography opportunities. It's in the Fells Point neighborhood. It had great walking/ running trails, ponds, an ice skating rink, a dog park, great for families and kids. During the winter/ snow, people bring their sleds and go down the hills. Don't you just love when spring actually feels... like spring? Normally, we go from freezing polar vortex straight into the depths of hell, but this year we have been graced with breezy 70 weather days. Perfect for a picnic in Baltimore's Patterson Park. You'll find people walking their dogs, rollerskating, doing photoshoots, and camped out in their cheese board best. You'll hear the sound of people playing music looking for some change in support. You will also hear cars whizzing by, honking, and possibly cursing each other out depending on what side of the park you're on. Ah, nature is healing. We still were able to use the big dog park with a little one and 2 big ones. People were friendly and so were their dogs. Plenty of space to let the dogs off leash to catch far throwing balls. Having access to such a wonderful pasture of green space in the middle of a concrete and brick metropolis is a priceless privilege. I've now experienced the park during three of the four seasons and I'm actually looking forward to winter and the snow as the park just keeps getting more and more beautiful. It's currently covered in fallen crispy leaves of orange, yellow and red. The skies at dusk are truly spectacular and regularly inspire local photographers and painters alike. I am biased towards the annex section of the park and it's spralling open meadow like space (just because it's closer to my house) but I would be remiss in not mentioning the picturesque climb to the iconic Pagoda Observatory. You experience an incline as you work your way towards the landmark but you are rewarded with immaculately maintained oriental architecture and decorative stained glass as well as blooming cherry blossoms (when in season). While the grounds afford various activities, my favorite thing to do is simply walk the park. It's calming and usually quiet and always beautiful. read more

This park is very large for being in the city - it offers history, beautiful views, fishing, paved pathways, plenty of grass and trees, and tennis courts / fields. I stopped by when the fall beer festival was happening, so it was lively and busy. There were plenty of people around the areas where we walked, but it never felt too crowded. Street parking in the area is available and most seems to be free. Check out the Pagoda while you are there - the views from the top are beautiful and show everything from downtown to the water and beyond! read more

Remembering to show Patterson Park a little bit of love for how awesome of a space it is in the city. It is our largest Park and one that's almost always a pleasure to go to even if you're just walking through. You usually see a bunch of families doing the same, as well as people enjoying the ample bench space and other areas to relax. It has a bunch of twists and turns that let you get from one side to the other and honestly I prefer cycling through it. If you're a jogger or cyclist in the city I'm sure this would be a good addition for you if you haven't given it a try just yet. read more

It is a strange concept to rate a park... for what makes a park great? It has grass and trees, a pond and fields... it comes with benches, a playground, and even historical structures... it even has an area for swimming and team sports... I'd say it's a lovely park. Though for the sake of taking my dog to a place where she can roam free, it's not the best place to go for it's saturated with other beings - human and pet alike... Pretty perfect park for me and my family, which includes two large dogs. We frequent the gated dog park but also run around the south area. It's not quite walking distance to home but parking hasn't been an issue. The dog park area is divided for large and small/older dogs. It's been clean and the other dog owners, with rare exception, have been considerate. Sometimes there are tennis balls for the dogs to fetch - I see the sign says no toys - but my dogs LOVE the tennis balls. The small "hills" and the concrete creek and bridge are great. read more

We love it here. Our 51 check-ins don't even begin to touch the amount times we've been here given that I walk with my dog every day. The park is always beautiful and the staff and volunteers do an excellent job caring for the trees and lawns. I am happy when I see the the police enforcing the leash law because we had a really bad run-in with a nasty dog that had a muzzle order the owner decided to ignore - certainly not the fault of the park and definitely not the norm. By in large everyone cleans up after their dog and keeps them on a leash. You can rent a pavilion, go to one of the two kids playgrounds, skate in the rink, swim in the huge pools, play tennis, play basketball or take your dog to the off-leash fenced in yards. I've seen organized softball games, adult flag football, pick-up bocce ball, frisbee golf and slack lining and plenty more. In the summer you can expect some awesome concerts in the evenings on the hill behind the pagoda. Pack a picnic, wine, your kids and dogs and put every calendar on your calendar because it's a great way to celebrate summer. In the winter the roads are clear of snow and ice making it easy to continue your walk and making your puppy happy. My personal favorite part is the three purple trees that bloom up by the house & pagoda for only about two weeks in the spring. They are amazing! read more
