Each wear masks and gloves, speak to you from a distance through car windows then packing boxes into your car (trunk/backseat as you request) before waving you through to the exit. There finacial department is horid, I'm enrolled at both central and north seattle college when logging onto my account it told me my remaining balance I set up a plan, however it appears there system only had the fees due for central. They dropped me from my classes at north no email with a way to pay the unknown balance, no notice, not a thing, transferring all of my credits and avoiding this location and will tell every soul I come in contact with to avoid this specific campus, forever. read more

My main reason for writing this is because of the financial aid office. Last quarter they really screwed things up for me. Administrators are horrible. Advisors are hard to get ahold of. Financial aid takes forever to help then sends templates that don't apply to the situation. They will screw you out of your financial aid by missing deadlines, especially if you're not the race they like. The last time I was there things were a little better but I don't see that lasting. Some teachers are great which is the only reason to go there but navigating everything else makes this school not worth it. I plan on transferring all of my credits and not graduating at North even though I'm only one class away just because they have screwed me so many times. Such a headache. No wonder their graduation rate is %2 they make it impossible. They are racist and mask that by calling it equity. What a waist of an opportunity to make peoples lives better. read more

I want to say they're trying there best and they're just underfunded but that doesn't seem like the case. Too many teachers are flippant about handing out bad grades. Usually because they don't have a standard like a rubric or expectations exceed what the class offers. Intuitively, if they retrained more students they would get more funding. Although they seem content, disinterested in feedback, and satisfied with mediocrity. I tried to give a-lot of feedback or bring the problems up but they rarely respond nor care. They just wanted to displace the blame onto the student. I also believe the previous stories, I personally got marked wrong for writing what was off the periodic table (which you're allowed to use). The place does look like a prison and is difficult to navigate. Also advising could use a ton of improvement. Most online colleges also have a function where you can withdraw then enroll intro a different class via online (which should be reasonable especially in the first two weeks). Also they block high school level science class until you're in college level math which is inefficient and doesn't make any sense. Then financial aid services have seem to have made a dramatic improvement from previous post. They're almost the only group of people that reply. read more

*** Continuous Education Program - Art Class *** I am currently taking an art class from the continuous education program. I paid $200 for 10 weeks long class and $12 for materials so far. I thought it's a pretty good deal. You don't just learn how to make art pieces here, but also have all the supplies you need to make your pieces. They have all the tools, color, glaze, Kilns, wheels, etc that you can utilize to make your own art with instructor's guidance. As long as you are a registered student, you can use the studio when it is open. I've practiced on wheel on Saturdays. The college has had some improvement done the last couple years. Even though, I haven't had other experiences other than the art building, I thought I had a pleasant experience so far. My instructor, Liz is great! I really like how she teaches the class. The registration is ready for next quarter. I am ready to enroll again! read more

North Seattle College is one of the worst college's I have ever attended. TERRIBLE ADMINISTRATION and staff! The instructors are fine but I bet they must really dislike working there. Financial aid takes FOREVER to get back to you. Anything in their offices take FOREVER to get back to you. All of the staff in those offices are rude and nasty. They could careless about any student. A family member of mine passed from COVID and I needed to drop my class. The school isn't refunding my tuition and the staff could have cared less about my situation. I'm transferring to Shoreline Community College to finish up my degree. The staff at Shoreline Community college care about their students and respond within 24 hours to all emails. North Seattle is a f**king joke of a school. read more

The campus is a maze, there's no getting around that. Give yourself a little extra time to find your class on the first day. The program is AWESOME though!! I've only taken art, but my teachers have been Superb! Glenn T is so so good. The way he structures the class and the feedback he gives- I can actually draw now! It's so weird because I've only ever done stick figures before! The continuing ed department is well organized. They sent me useful emails reminding me of my class dates, a room change, and forewarned me about parking. They were very responsive when I asked questions, which is a far cry from what Seattle Central continuing ed did for me (which was not much). If you have the choice, I highly recommend NCCC both for class quality and logistics (parking is easy, lots of buses come here, and they are WAY better organized). I will be taking many more classes through this program. Go lifelong learning!! read more

Great teachers, good facilities, awesome tutoring (free!), research opportunities and a wonderfully diverse student body.

Seattle community colleges have a good reputation. Seattle Central, for example, was named Time Magazine's "Community College Of The Year" in 2001, and Bellevue Community College had such a highly regarded educational program that they expanded it to a four year college and dropped the word "Community" altogether. I spent the last 2 years of high school skipping all of my homework because of some arcane grading system that allowed me to still get B's even if I didn't complete a single assignment. So while my test scores were fairly exemplary, my overall GPA was only "acceptable," and since I was short on cash and living on my own by the end of high school, I decided to enroll in community college and then transfer to the University of Washington once I completed my AA degree. Unfortunately, all of the classes I wanted at Seattle Central Community College were filled, so in 2002 I enrolled instead at North Seattle Community College near Northgate Mall. To enroll, all I needed to do was fill out a form. That may have been the most difficult task I ever had to do for that college. My Experience at North Seattle North Seattle is made up of giant concrete walls that make it look like an enormous prison, except without the charm of rusty metal bars. On foggy days the campus is the most gloomy spot in Seattle, and I cannot remember a single time that I went to campus and saw smiling faces or cheer. The Teachers Classes were designed to appeal to lowest common denominator intelligence, and many of the teachers reflected that quality. These are all true stories: - - We had an art teacher that would tell us what to draw. One of my assignments I finished early. The teacher came and looked at the drawing and said "this is really good. I can't think of anything else you need to do. Just finesse for a while." So I cleaned up a few lines and called it a day. I turned in the assignment. She failed me. I asked her why she'd fail me and she said "This drawing has many different flaws." Then she refused to elaborate any further. - - I turned in the first draft of an essay for English class. She came up to me and told me my essay was amazing, and she wanted to read it to class as an example of how to write effectively. I said fine. She read the essay to class and it got rave reviews. Then everyone took their essays home and made their final draft edits. Obviously I didn't change much. I turned it in. She failed me. She told me that even though my essay was great, she was grading on how excellent she thought I could have been. She gave an A+ to an 17 year old girl that wrote an essay that was half the required length, used the term "lol," and focused only on how her ex-boyfriend's parents didn't like her. (Fun fact! Her ex-boyfriend left her because she cheated on him with her then current boyfriend - he was 32). - - I wrote an essay for a different English class. I got a B. I looked at the paper and it said "This is an A+ paper, but you have many spelling errors." I checked. None of the words were spelled wrong. The teacher simply didn't know how to spell them correctly and assumed I must have been mistaken. She refused to give me back the points until I brought back a dictionary. Then she only gave me an A-. That is not to say that all of the instructors were bad. Quite the contrary, my psychology professor was spectacular, and inspired me to study psychology at the University of Washington. Still, there were ample negative experiences with the professors at the University. The Students North Seattle is extended high school. Most of the people that enrolled, at least between 2002 and 2004, were students that didn't want to go to college at all but felt like in today's society it's expected. Few of them were good students or had any intention of amounting to anything. Many of them were part of big cliques in high school, and they all enrolled together so that they would be able to continue skipping class and smoking near the library. There were a lot of intelligent students. But without any minimum registration requirements, many of the students should probably not have been enrolled in college. We had a poetry assignment that asked us to come up with a one line simile based on a color. Three people turned in "Orange, like an orange." They got full credit. That's ridiculous. The Exams Many of my exams involved subjective grading. As someone that has completed a degree at a major university, I have to say that subjective grading is the worst way to grade an assignment. Qualitative answers mean that you can be right and still be wrong. Almost every time I lost a point I questioned why, and sometimes I would get full credit for an answer that I completely made up without any studying. I finished 7 years ago. Things change. But this experience was mind-blowingly terrible, and if it didn't end up leading to the best two years of my life at UW, I would call this place nothing short of a travesty. read more

It's a good but sad little college. The good is that the staff is helpful, the processes easy-peasy when it comes to registration and the like and the class selection is pretty great. The campus itself does have that 'Gulag with a hint of Stonehenge' vibe to it but the staff seem to be oblivious to it with their cheerful and helpful attitudes. I took an online class and after now trying 3/5 of the local community colleges, this is a fine one to choose, much easier to register and work with than Central but a little less groovy than South. read more

North Seattle College is a good fit if you are: (1) Learning English as a second language (2) Interested in technical training (3) Completing an AA transfer degree The tuition is very reasonable. Most of the instructors are competent; some are outstanding; and some, regrettably, are terrible (teacher online rating services may of be some help here). The campus is well kept up and the classrooms clean, but in need of upgrade in the older buildings. read more

I already have a BA and an MA. I am looking at taking some refresher classes to update my skills. I have looked at classes at NSC and SSC, but unfortunately it looks like I'll be stuck going to NSC because it's classes fit my work schedule. I have found the people at North in academic advising and in financial aid to be extremely unhelpful, cold, and borderline rude. I have been given incorrect and incomplete information about registering for class and applying for financial aid. By contrast, the staff I have met with at SSC have been the opposite; they are friendly helpful and go above and beyond. I'm thinking of changing jobs because I'd much rather go there than North. read more

I got my Associate's degree here in late 2006. They offer ample night classes, parking and tuition assistance. Since the Seattle community college district (North, Central and South Seattle CC's) does not offer federal student aid, North makes up for it with their scholarship program which is supported by an annual auction and generous community donors. The teachers here are fairly awesome, I only had a couple that were so-so. The campus may feel a bit drab being made of concrete, but the groundskeeper does a good job by planting a lot of flowers and bushes to help cheer the place up a bit. Wish they had more food service options available to students in the evenings :( read more

This school has great positives and terrible negatives. They have shifted many of their classes to be hybrid or completely online, with no option to take the course in-person. To give an example of how frustrating this can be, last year I was expected to teach myself the entire general chemistry series from a textbook with little to no information on solving chemistry problems, in a class where we met once a week for an hour of lecture. Tutoring services on campus are ineffective and understaffed so you are really on your own if you have a hard time and can't make it to the one office hour session your teacher has per week. To some students this may not be a huge deal but to students with a disability (like myself) it is a total nightmare. North does have great faculty for the most part. I have had a few terrible teachers but for the most part my instructors have been talented and capable. There is a phenomenal undergraduate research program here that allows students to work on their own independent research projects throughout the school year. There are a variety of clubs and on-campus organizations for those interested in getting involved in the student community. Most of the administration has been helpful and knowledgable in my experience, the only exception being financial aid. I seem to get different information every time I go there depending on who I talk to. read more

I'm in my second year of taking classes at NSCC for prerequisites to get into a master's program and each quarter has brought it's own mix of challenges. Registration? Easy. Try to get in early and you can pretty much get everything taken care in one hour. Even better? Do it online. Here's a hint, if you know you're going to have to take the Compass test how about you do it at some time other than right before you register? Guess what! No lines! Campus? Love it! I know everyone says it looks like a prison but I love the different levels, random stairwells, and the amazingly beautiful plant life. (Two story tall rhododendrons!) People? Meh... a lot of young ones, but I figure I'm there for school not to make friends. Some are really cool, and the people working the cafe stand are always really nice. I think the worst part was dealing with traffic getting to the school. As we all know I-5 is a massive pain and Northgate Way can be just as bad. My biggest complaint now that I'm doing all of my classes online is how completely unhelpful my economics teacher was this last quarter... I think a computer would be a better teacher than this guy was. read more

How did I forget to review this? It is lovely. This campus. That in itself begins your day.. the sheer beauty of walking on campus... greenery and pots of plants always immaculately cared for. Then the design.. you walk between interesting buildings with hidden sculptures. There is a very funny story of how I missed giving a presentation because of automatic flushing toilets and sinks.. it's funnier when I tell it.. it didn't feel like it then.. beware of those toilets.. they flush when they want and some spray!! EEE However when you are on campus and going to a class or workshop the toilet is not a main concern. Unless you were changing clothes in the bathroom and things got wet!!!! Many activities for students as well as advisors and helpful classes and agencies. I volunteer and work with Women of Wisdom which has an annual womens conference on spirituality there. It is joyful to attend the conference. read more

This was not one of my favourite places to attend school.. the school buildings themselves are mostly concrete and dark, the classrooms are separated, so I would get soaked going from class to class frequently. The professors are a hit-or-miss, my math professor my first quarter here... he didn't care about the class at all, and spoke in a mono-tone voice and what was a 50 minute class dragged on for what would seem like hours. On the other hand I had some awesome professors, but you have to search well for them! read more

I love being a student here. The teachers are gems, and the people I meet are there to learn. Also for those using UI benefits should come talk to Jackie Perry. She will get you set up and on a course for Workers Retraining, and you can still claim throughout the program. I didn't know what to expect my first year, but I gained a part of myself that has given me a view of where I want to go. And their advisors gave me a window to how to get there. read more

WORST ADMINISTRATION EVER. Financial aid takes months to get back with you. If you have any fines or remainder payments, they refuse to speak over the phone and fail to return any emails or voicemails. They are disrespectful and not worth arguing with. The school over all is poor in class choices. No wonder barely anyone graduates. Get out while you can OR just don't register or apply here. Ignore the grey color and cold concrete that makes up this college, after all, it was built in the 70's and there's little that can be done to update it now. The variety of classes, easy access from I-5 and instructors who know what they're doing make this community college a good choice. Parking can be a bit tough during the day classes but students with evening classes will be thankful for all the space. Non-credit classes for fun are worth checking out. Looking at changing career fields. 12 years in something I hated it's time for a change. Looked around at the different technical colleges and though Bates is closer to my house for the degree I am pursing I did not appreciate how they handled my appointment by blatantly pushing me out the door when I had a appointment with a counselor because I didn't take the compass test. While attending a few meeting about NSCC everyone was helpful and made me feel at ease with every step. From Worksource paperwork and procedures to veteran's affairs. This school though only my first quarter has proved to be headed in the right step in the life I want in the future. read more

I want like NSCC. I really do. I think the Brutalistic architecture is inspiring, I love that you can find books from 1910 in the library, I like theLoft, the computer lab, the theater, the Financial Aid, the BFET program at Workforce (I love you Misti!), and they really try hard with the little cafe. But the classes. the teachers. the departments. Specifically, Health and human services. Horribly, Horribly disrespectful. I know I should treat it like a job but these people, these adults pay to be on the campus and deserve at least as much if not more respect than the average person because they're paying your salary, and because it's easier to learn and concentrate when you you can let your guard down and feel free to focus on your interests. Why does education have to suck so much? I am BORED. BORED BORED BORED in here. Look teachers, I'd fall asleep if read as slowly as you speak. I'm not really this stupid, I'm not actually lobotomized, I'm just trying to be nice and look interested and perky for YOUR comfort, okay? So really, treat me and the class like equals. Welcome questions, socratic dialogue and comments. This way, if you're going too fast or we miss something, we feel encouraged to tell you so, and at the same time you're not speaking in such a way that melts my brain cells into a primordial mush and allows my soul to flounder, makes me produce loud sighs, doodle, lay my head on my desk, read a book in your class, and *dumdumDum* talk to other people to keep my from devolutionizing my vocabulary. you know what, put on a little bit of show, dare to be human and not be horribly offended when we tell you a test question wasn't covered, dare to show love and enthusiasm for your subject and *godforbid* relate to us. So, it's all dressed up to be a college, but I don't know if it's the lack of friendliness in the work place, uncredited achievements, or undue stress and lack of understanding for one another (these things roll down hill, you know?), but the teaching is definitely underwhelming. read more

Avoid if you are an evening student. I am currently an evening student, I consistently have to scramble to find evening classes for my AA degree. The majority of classes they offer are during the day. They offer almost no services for evening students. Their offices close at 4:30 so if you have a day job good luck. One last bonus of being an evening student, the bathrooms are a disaster at that time of night. I think they are only cleaned once in the morning. read more

I knew I was in the wrong place right from the beginning. the aesthetics of the campus are dreary and antiquated, the classrooms are dingy and finding quality teachers is rare at best. I went back to school to finish my prereques for my RN. It had been more than 25 years since I was last in college and I was very much looking forward getting back in the swing of things. I started this past summer with an english class. The teacher was moody and his behavior erratic. I found it stressful to go to class and frankly couldn't wait to be finished. I also found the projects he assigned were geared toward the very young and I found it beyond difficult to relate. Fall quarter I two very nice teachers which was a breath of fresh air. but winter quarter I had a crazy french teacher, a communications teacher that was a racist ass, and an amazing but hurried math teacher. I dropped out half way through winter quarter. I found the experience to be depressing and monotonous, I say if you can afford to go to the UW, do it. It's not worth being in an environment that you don't like for hours each day. read more

All of their employees that work there are basically college students, and these Employees don't know the rules! or regulations! They're not wiling to help, they are RUDE. I asked to speak to an advisor for 2 min question!. She said, no! straight like that. and now i have to wait several weeks out for an appointment. Just for a 10 second simple solution. I'm sure the school doesn't suck itself! yet the Staff here making my life miserable, throwing me around all over the place. I'm sure their are some great teachers! Many of the classes here are not helpful. For example: math physics and history class here are all terrible.Big majority of the instructors come in class with preparation.If you took math classes here before you'll experience what I am talking about. Only few classes here are takeable and it's very often to be full registered on the first day of registration. Otherwise you'll experience what is called terrible education. Furthermore, history classes here are extremely bad and tough which are not helpful if you want to do high school completion here; often time they only have 1 instructor for history "classes" and if you don't get well with him you are screwed ( and it happened all the time. The only reason it's worth 2 stars it's because very little of the classes here are so good and really worth your time. For example, organic chemistry, music , ESL, PE, political science. Other than that, please don't study here. Your GPA MATTERs and you won't really learn much from their physic, math, and history classes. It's soooooo bad. read more

I know your wondering about the school curricula. I am a chef and therefore food is always on my mind the teaching you can get anywhere. So the cafeteria is overpriced and the options are very much like hotel food. Where does this place gets 4 stars you ask I will tell you. The beef dogs in the cafeteria are 2 bucks for kosher beef, that is right kosher beef dogs for 2 bucks. Who cares about teachers and books and learning there are 2 dollar dogs in the deli. Sure they use rollers and any dog enthusiast knows hot dog water bath for 24 hours at room temp is the best way to get em'. You can forgive this fact because there are 2 dollar kosher dogs in the deli. read more

I returned to college while in my 30s, beginning at Seattle Central CC and finishing an Associates of Science at North Seattle CC. Compared to Central, I found North much more academically oriented, particularly in terms of course offerings and the students in my classes. Professors, in general, took their jobs seriously and expressed interest in their respective fields and in their students. Even while in the administrative and advising offices, I remember being impressed with the level of professionalism. (This may be faint praise, Central being absolutely terrible in this regard, but it's praise nonetheless.) On the whole, the school appeared to be well-run, the atmosphere was calm and serious, and the campus itself is really quite beautiful. (I know some people hate the look and feel of North but I actually like the architecture, the landscaping, and the cleanliness.) North certainly isn't perfect. The bookstore doesn't always stock what classes require, the food's pretty bad (this is the one area in which Central excels), and there could be better communication and coordination between departments, both from not scheduling heavy construction in a room next to the classroom during which my class was attempting to take an integral calculus final to requiring trigonometry prior to physics courses. (I had to basically teach trig to another student just so that she could pass the class and get accepted to Western.) Also, based upon several incidents that occurred during my last quarter there, I detected that some of the constant politicization at Central was beginning to infect the North campus, so I assume some of the sanity I experienced is now gone. While it's true that college is what you make it, it can't be denied that a school's environment, its ethos, can certainly impact a student's success. If you're a serious student with goals and would like to be in classes with those like you, I believe North is an excellent choice. read more

Great school for what I needed. I went here as an adult returning to college to get some prereqs done for a second degree. I felt like the instructors I had were for the most part really good (though I did use ratemyprofessor.com which really helped). The administration was very straight forward and WAY better than my previous 4 year college where I got my first degree. I thought the class sizes were good, not too big. Also, all of the instructors were available to meet me if needed. The library was a great place to study and you could bring your latte in which was really nice. The librarians were really helpful for my specific courses. The student population was so diverse which was really nice. I was in my 30's and there were plenty of students older and younger. All in all it was a terrific experience. read more

TLDR Version: Horrible administration, professors, and student services. Avoid at all costs. I'm surprised they are even accredited. If you are looking for an avenue to a four-year school, do not go to NSCC as your transcripts may not recover. At best, the professors at NSCC are disinterested, miss classes, and skip their office hours. At worst, they test beyond the scope of the curriculum, give arbitrary grades that don't follow the department's rubric, and avoid answering students' questions by literally ducking around a corner and escaping down the hall. I'm not saying every professors has every one of these traits, but it seems that most professors exhibit more than one. Disability services are laughable. They schedule less time you are entitled to, and rather than reschedule that hour you lost, you get 0 on every question you didn't answer and it impacts your grade. I'm pretty sure that's what the ADA is for, but it's not like your typical community college student has the resources to consult with an attorney. Financial aid was pretty bad too. They like to close during their stated business hours, but require that you submit a form with all of your professors' signatures dated in the same week period. It's tricky enough to get professors' signatures in a one-week period when they're cancelling classes. If the office is closed when you try and turn it in after your last class of the week, you have to start over. Unfortunately, reporting these problems to the next level of management doesn't resolve anything. The apathetic culture persists all the way to the top of the administration. Just to discredit any belief you may have that I am simply a bitter student who didn't study; I have never attended the school but I have witnessed it all vicariously through my husband. He is very intelligent and puts in more effort than most. read more

Classes are nice and small. Although you have to choose your classes wisely. If you choose wrong you'll have a better time home-schooling yourself. The "cafeteria" or the Grove is really tiny also. For the students who are complaining about lack of Evening Services, I'd like to offer my thoughts: As the Monday/Wednesday evening monitor in the Open Computer Lab, I try to offer as much help to the students as I can - unfortunately, I'm only able to offer help up to a certain point. My boss (the Lab Manager) has told both me and the other part-time lab monitors, very specifically, that we are not allowed to offer full-blown tutoring help to the students - we were hired to offer I.T. Support to the Evening Faculty first, and then help the students second. While I personally think that this "mandate" is completely silly, my boss has made it quite clear to me that she doesn't want workers who think for themselves, she wants workers who do what they're told. As for the lack of evening tutoring services in the lab, most students don't realize this, yet the Open Lab does not provide the tutors - the Department that offers your classes both provides and pays for the tutors. If you, as a student, really want a tutor for a certain class (SQL Server, Programming, MS Office) I strongly recommend that you contact the Department that offers your class and let them know you'd like them to offer a tutor. The more tutor requests that the individual departments receive, the more likely they'll be to offer a tutor. Almost all of the regular instructors I have had here are great. They have a diverse selection of classes, especially within the math and science disciplines. Taking the bus is easier than driving, parking can be a huge pain. Their library is worn out looking and in need of an update. Also the copy center is closing as of mid-July, which is a bummer; now you will have to go out of your way to Kinko's or somewhere if you don't want to pay 10 cents a page on the old, beat-up library copy machines. The gym is completely updated and full of new machines, and only costs $1 per credit or $10 per quarter for students to use. read more

Positive: I really do love this school because of many reasons. I have tried many other schools and this one just stands out to me overall. For one, they try VERY hard to reach out and involve all of the students, no matter race or color or sex, gender, anything. They hold many different events and there are a lot of student-run organizations. The student life (especially for a community college) is very lively and healthy, surprising for the serious atmosphere that NSCC is known for. And yes, we do work very hard when it's time to concentrate on academics, but boy do we know how to relax, kickback and have healthy fun too! As for the staff and professors, in my experience they are ALL (except for like ONE) very kind and open to all, but don't get me wrong, they're not pushovers. They will push you to BE the best you can be and DO the best you can. They do all they can to foster the maturity of your personality and help you realize who you are, including your social styles, your learning and productive styles and really give you a piece of themselves in order for you to learn from that, picking up the pieces, seeing how they fit with your own and ergo, creating your own morals and defining your own artistic muse. Though they promote a serious work environment, they do it in a cool way which makes you want to do well. SO! If you just want to slack and hope to pass because you show up, stick headphones in and doodle on the page, this is not the school for you! :) That being said... Negative: Throughout my whole two years here, I've accumulated really only two things that upset me about this school. The first is that I have experienced two teachers that work both in the Math department that honestly are great at Math, but have teaching skills that are much less than up to par. I mean, their ways of educating were not only unconventional, but boring and confusing. Then, instead of trying a different method of teaching when the class didn't understand, they would just write the subject off as our incompetence and move on, leaving us with a gap in our consecutive ladder of knowledge. When that came up in my next class, I needed that information, but the previous teacher had just skipped it and told me I wouldn't ever need it because it was easier for them to overlook it than make an effort to change their teaching style for the overall good of the students. The last negative thing I had to say is about their Financial Aid office. I applied for Financial Aid and completed my FAFSA probably about two weeks after the opportunities opened. That meant there was MONTHS upon MONTHS for the F.A. department to get the forms, calculate my financial aid and receive it from the government. Of course, I go in there about a week before classes start because I'm all registered but they DROPPED me due to lack of tuition payment--something that should have been handled by the F.A. dept. When I get there, they say, "Oh that's weird. You should've gotten a letter denying your scholarships this year due to a withdrawal last quarter." So I explain that I had some traumatic incidents happen to me during that quarter and needed to withdraw due to personal life stuff and that I had a psychologist who could furnish a doctor's note basically excusing me from that course. "Oh, I'm so so so sorry, Miss but it's too late. The grades are already posted and therefore you're screwed. But just pay the $2,000 this quarter out of pocket no biggy and when you pass, you can get aid again!" Gee. That's so easy. As for the form deadline, I wish I'd known there was a problem in the first place so I could've taken care of it myself! The campus has its pros and cons after graduating from here. Expect a weak student life like any other community college, and advising to be autonomous to plan the classes you need. Most faculty were helpful and great to know, too on certain courses although students seem to give faculty a bad rep on office hours. The facilities are pretty old including their fitness center, but North has been the place to get the education done for me. I still don't find the Worksource building as useful, but its there to get anyone started on resume tips. read more

I would honestly give 0 stars if possible. I have never before left a bad review with anyone, but I couldn't help it after all of the bad experiences I have had with their student services departments. I have dealt with over 10 people throughout my phone calls and trips into North, and they have mostly all been terrible. I have had a lot of rude customer service over the phone that has left me stressed and crying, the worst of all being today. After listening to prompts for 10 minutes and finally speaking to someone, she was very kind and transferred me to someone who could supposedly help me, and yet all he did was mock me and tell me he can't do anything to help me. At one point when I was registering for classes my dad was going to help me pay for part of it, and a lady that I spoke to on the phone said "guess your daddy's just going to have to find another way to make it work" very sarcastically. I work in customer service and I know difficult customers make the job hard, but I have always tried to be kind and understanding. Once I get my grades corrected and my transcript transferred, I will never again pay a dime to North Seattle College. read more

Great way to get your bubble of hope burst. There is a terrible instructor within the electronics program, who has higher education, but is distracted because of outside interests. The students suffer greatly because of his going through the motions attitude, he routinely argues with students who are inquisitive and he see's them as challenging his turf. I reported him to the dean over his disruptions, then he did a hatchet job to my grade in another class I was taking from him. I am a college graduate already, transferred from another college with honors and had to suffer from this persons negligence. I am fighting it, even if I have to take the school to court. read more

I registered math 098 on summer, but the financial aid drop my class because due the left money $ 64. I don't have any information since the class ended in spring quieter . After I enrolled the class, I didn't see any problem the class and called the financial aid three times, they can't the solve my problem then I called the administration office, they told me to pay the fee last quarter. I paid the left the money, but the last time rester class is dropped. I am so upset. I try the register but I am the waitlist # 15. finally I got for the instructor, she told me the don't have space. I am the one stay home without education. read more

The bookstores are a scam. Here at North and South. Managers constantly take breaks so it's impossible to talk to them. The kids who work behind the counter are lazy and have given me the wrong book with access codes twice. I've lost hundreds of dollars to them. DO NOT support the bookstore. Amazon prime is the way to go. These people are scam artists and they could care less about your education. read more
