    Riverfront Trail Clean Up Project
    Nena U.

Three Rivers Heritage Trail..maintained by the amazing "Friends of the Riverfront" is no doubt an amazing part of Pittsburgh. The trail extends over 20 miles. There are so many entrances to the trail - makes it effortless to find and enjoy. I work in the north shore and visit the trail several times a week and just love it. Its nice being by the river and watching the boats go by and also to take great snapshots of the amazing scenery. The trail is often referenced "North Shore Trail" or "Riverfront Trail" .. no matter what you refer to it.. its a big part of Pittsburgh. To me its no doubt one of the favorite reasons why I love living in Pittsburgh.

Get on your bike or walk this trail that extends past Heinz Field or the other direction past the historic Heinz Lofts. It's clean, safe, and people from all ages and walks of life frequent this place. Even the geese love this place. Don't worry they are harmless and beautiful to look at.

Fabulous and scenic but can be crowded. I love this trail. Highly recommend, especially on a weekday when there are fewer people.

I was fortunate and privileged to grow up with Frick as my backyard and walked all over the place before graduating to riding mountain bikes on the trails when the sport was in its infancy. Later, I ran high school cross-country races in Schenley and trained in Frick Park. Nowadays, we enjoy the flowers, wildlife, and groomed and maintained trails. I never appreciated how unique, rare, and amazing the parks are until I moved away and it's so great to see them treated as the unique assets they truly are.

I keep coming back and exploring different paths, only to realize there's always more to discover. It's one of those places where you can return again and again and still find something new, which makes it feel really special to me. The way the trails connect is one of my favorite things. Nine Mile Run flows into Deer Creek, which then connects into Tranquil Trail, creating an easy, continuous experience through the park. And thats just one corner of the park. While bathrooms are not abundant, you will occasionally find a porta potty, and there is often trash cans and benches toward the entrances and parking lots of the trail as well. Overall it's just a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon, and I really hope spaces like this continue to be preserved as an important part of Pittsburgh's identity and history.
