I. Hate. Daycares…read more Hate them. They stink. They smell. The staff comes and goes. They are gross. I love this one. Miss Amelia is AMAZING with my child. She adores kids and it shows. And the assistants, whenever I drop Henry off, someone is always there to swoop him up and love on him. They do daily reports, they respond to my messages, they put up with me forgetting the door code. I have been around the block with child care, 5 total daycares. We switched from another daycare provider, so I have a point of comparison. My 3 year old loves going to "school," has formed positive bonds, and learns so much while there. She enjoys the field trips and varied activities. Since starting she has progressed through three age defined classroom levels and I have been pleased with the focus on development and learning at each stage. My new baby is thriving. I work at home a couple of days a week so go see her to nurse when I can. I am always welcome and greeted warmly by the teachers. My baby is always happy and clean. Since I am able to observe the teacher interactions with the babies, I feel good knowing my little one is there. Crib safety measures are always observed and I appreciate that there aren't a lot of "gadgets" such as bouncers/swings/exersaucers that invite using those items to occupy a child. Instead the babies receive a lot of time on mats and with interactive sensory toys. The teachers are exceptionally caring. While other child care facilities may offer more aesthetic bells and whistles, I feel confident that my children are safe, happy, and learning while I am at work. My entire family enjoys the optional family nights and opportunities for parent engagement. I highly recommend Heatherwood to anyone seeking child care.

We signed up in June for a spot in January. Fast forward to December orientation. Found out it's a FOUR to one ratio (recent change or lie? We aren't sure). The "teacher" picks a baby up, feeds and changes baby, and sets them back in the crib for HOURS, rotating through until they decide to feed them again. If a baby is crying the "teacher" will sing to the baby aaaaaand that's it. They have a lady come in ONE HOUR PER WEEK to work curriculum. This is a joke!!!!! When we went in, there was just one "teacher" in the room, feeding one baby (not making eye contact or engaging the baby), while one baby was asleep, one was crawling around on his own, and one sad looking girl was alone in her crib (not even a toy to play with, just a sad vacant expression). My heart broke. Babies need attention, not just sustainment. Now we are frantically scrambling to find something for our return to work in less than a month. This place is horrible!!!!

Unfortunately all other daycares had a 1yr+ wait lists so we had no choice but to jump on the open spot here and paid to reserve the available spot. Later, we decided to visit the infant daycare room and meet the teachers before our baby started. Thank goodness we did. Every single child in the room was sick with very runny noses and coughs. When we asked what the limitations were for sick children the teachers said that they only turn children away if they have fever, are vomiting or have diarrhea. They flat out told us that we would just have to understand that there were always sick kids in the class and that our child would be getting sick. At one point, one of the more sick children spit up a good amount on the rug where all the kids were playing. The teacher barely wiped it up with a paper towel and spray allowing the other kids to play right where it was. They never wiped the spit up off the child's mouth. He put a rattle in his mouth getting spit up all over it when another child grabbed it and put it in their mouth. There was no real attempt at sanitation to avoid the spread of germs. Also the children were pretty fussy and the teachers did not seem at all confident or comfortable handling it. They seemed very overwhelmed and even frustrated. This was with only 6 children and they take up to 8 in that room. After that visit, there was no way we could imagine

We've been with Primrose since my son was 9 months old and he is now almost 14 months old, so we've been in two classrooms so far. We really like his teachers! They had my son doing sign language at 10 months old as it is part of their curriculum. The infant room teachers were so lovable and it is evident that they truly cared about each and every baby. My favorite is how they speak with the babies so lovingly and patiently - exactly how I wanted my little one addressed. Now that he is in the 12-18 month old classroom, he is eating very well, getting a lot of outside time, and they send lots of pictures to show what our son is up to - which is everything from crafts, learning about animals and their sounds, learning about foods, playing musical instruments, reading books, learning to recognize each other's names, reciting the pledge of allegiance every morning, etc. They also work on both fine and gross motor skills. The food variety is also healthy and always sounds delicious. I feel like he gets better food at school than he does at home! I get jealous of what he eats when I get his daily reports! We do encounter hiccups here and there, but mostly minor and not enough to change our feelings about Primrose. It's a really good school and we love it here!
