Once we were asked in, no one asked our names or introduced themselves. the enrollment coordinator walked us through the center, no clear answers to questions about curriculum, teacher retention or did she ask us any questions about what we were looking for etc. the one thing she did say off the bat is that while they do accept DSHS they do not accept children from CPS. Seems a little like discrimination to me... children need a place that they can feel safe in. not sure i would enroll based on the fact that the person giving the tour did not take the time to get some information about us or trey to build that connection with us. Must not want that enrollment that bad.

Pros: -self-selected auto-pay schedule -classroom cameras -parent messaging app with picture/video capabilities -cute artwork/crafts -Ms. Vivian (floater) is AMAZING! My son loved her! -Ms. Alaina was great (she has left) -polite and friendly staff Cons: -lack of active supervision= safety concerns. We walked in on another child, ~2 months older, crawling on my then immobile son, who was trapped in a boppy while teachers reorganized cubbies on the other side of the room. On his last day, a child walked up and took all the toys (~5) he was playing with. Then another child (same child as first incident) crawled on top of him, sat on his waist/upper thighs and repeatedly hit his belly ~6 times. An adult was sitting less than 5 feet away and did not intervene, presumably because she did not see it. The child crawled away independently, and I picked my son up early. He did not have any marks on him, or I would have brought it to administration's attention. -communication: I made the mistake of thinking a parent app with opportunities to input meals/diaper changes, message and share pictures/video meant that we would have positive, strong communication. Responses are usually delayed, if received at all, parent requests are not necessarily honored, etc. As a former teacher, I tried to be up front about things going on at home (ie job changes, returning to work, sleep changes/training, etc.), but was met with judgement and push back which I found disappointing and off-putting. I'm paying for daycare, not parenting advice. Daily reports had some inaccuries as to number of feedings (i.e., report says ate 4 times but only sent 5 bottles and 2 sent back unused) and type of milk given (i.e., said my exclusively breastfed baby was given formula then after switching to formula said given breastmilk); however, staff assured me these were reporting errors only and he received only the bottles we sent. -school-like, rigid environment: no drop offs after 10 AM, progress reports though no staff training/education, etc. My baby isn't developmentally ready for school; he's 7 months old. If he needs to take his first nap at home and come in late, he should be able to. Also, I work from home, if I have meetings and cannot drop off until later in the morning, I shouldn't have to ask for permission to bring him late. I pay for the day, whether he comes in or not, so I should be able to bring him in when it's best for us. -This is a business and it feels like it. They nickel and dime you everywhere, you have to provide your own gloves for diaper changes for goodness sakes! -Staff are asked to do too much. My son started daycare at 10 weeks old. We don't have family in the area, so daycare was the first time our son was consistently separated from us, and it obviously caused him some distress. We would pick him up, his eyes/face would be red, puffy, and splotchy. He refused to sleep much and started losing weight from not eating enough. Nearly every time we logged onto the cameras, he was alone in a dark corner on the opposite side of the room from the adults or other children. I thought it would get better, but it went on for ~2 months. Eventually, he started throwing major fits any time we put him in his carseat, and he's usually a very happy baby. This month, a new baby started in his class. Almost every time, except 1-2 times, I walked in, this baby's screaming. He's ~3-4 months, and almost never was he held or picked up unless I commented on how sad he was or talked to him. One time, I stopped to pick up something my husband forgot, and the teacher couldn't hear me knocking in the door over the baby crying, so I walked in. The baby was in the bouncer, next to the counter (he was out of the camera's view), while the teacher did something on the counter with her back to the baby. Upon hearing the door's bell and seeing me, the teacher whipped around and started talking to the baby and bouncing the bouncer. I now know that they left my son to cry alone for God knows how long but would pick him up before we got there which is why his face was always swollen n puffy but he wasn't actually crying. In some ways, I'm unbelievably angry with the staff for treating babies this way. On the other hand, I know they are short-staffed and asked to do way too much. I would have preferred not to receive a "progress report" or fewer cutesy crafts and had my son's emotional needs met. We are now at an in-home daycare where my son is very well cared for. He sleeps 2 hours consecutively (the longest he ever slept at Kids n Us was 40 minutes), he eats all his purees/solids and drinks 12-20 oz (was picking at purees, drank less than 10 oz consistently at Kids n Us). I've heard great things about Kids n Us and really wanted to have a positive experience. Unfortunately, our experience was being charged a premium price for mediocre care.

Here, I especially want to highlight the director, Haleemah. Haleemah truly does her best to address parents' concerns. I can't thank her enough for always listening to my worries about my kids and responding thoughtfully and professionally. She takes concerns seriously and handles them in the best way she knows how -- and that ultimately gives me so much peace and confidence as a mom. As parents, feeling heard makes all the difference. Haleemah creates that sense of trust and partnership, and that is not easy to find.

Now that my twins are toddler age, they are learning so much from their teachers (special shout out to Ms. Chayo and Ms. Arely). Kids Country is their home away from home and I truly trust their care and direction. So thankful we found kids country.

They handled the COVID restrictions pretty well at the time (restrictions have been lifted recently). The daycare only had to shut down once. They alerted us quickly and the symptomatic child did not spread it to my daughter (she was in very close contact with her). My daughter loves her teachers and friends. She will soon be leaving since she is moving on to kindergarten. She is well prepared for it but will be sad to leave. My 2 year old son is enrolled to start in a week so there's a nice transition and I will still have a child there. I expect my son to be well cared for as usual. By the way, they changed their app since I last reviewed. It has a better interface and a message section. The director and teachers have contacted us directly on announcements, concerns, etc.

Evergreen Academy Montessori has been such a wonderful experience for our family. As a first-time…read moremom returning to work, I was incredibly nervous about putting my baby in daycare at around 3 months old, but the team here made the transition so much easier. From the very beginning, the environment has felt warm, welcoming, and supportive. The teachers and admin staff are so kind and caring, and it's clear they truly love what they do. They always take a few minutes to chat during drop-off and pick-up, which makes me feel connected and reassured about how my little one's day is going. The staff always rave about my little one and how cute and wonderful they are. Warms my heart. One of my favorite things is receiving pictures throughout the day. It's so comforting to see my little one smiling, playing, and being well cared for while I'm at work. I also really appreciate how the teachers partner with parents and share Montessori activities we can try at home. It's been so special to learn simple ways to support my child's development and continue some of the same learning and exploration outside of school. I'm so grateful for the care and attention the staff provides, and it has given me such peace of mind knowing my baby is in such good hands. We love lil peoples world in Kirkland. Both my daughters have loved attending. My 3 yr old I didn't realize how much care and love her 2 yr old teacher put in until she commented one day that she didn't have to sit there rubbing her back for nap time and she was able to self soothe now. The teachers truly care that the kids feel cared for, safe and loved. The outdoor spaces are great and separated by age appropriate things and they do so many art projects as well. The staff are kind and understanding with parents when you call to check in if your child had a big feelings day and drop off was challenging. We love it there! They just seem to really keep him engaged and it's never a fight during drop off. When we found LPW we had to go on their waiting list but they were very prompt and communicative when a spot opened up in their Waddler classroom for him. Starbright is like a second home…read more My son started back during COVID when we were very unhappy with his care center and how they were handling things (combining classrooms, being lazy in taking precautions, etc). We took a tour with Starbright and instantly felt at ease. You could tell they clearly cared so much about the kids, keeping everyone safe, and remaining as normal as you can during an abnormal time. My son attended until he went to kindergarten. My daughter has been there since she was an infant. It's a terrible day when you drop off your baby and go back to work, but it's much less terrible when you know that your child is going to be taken care of by incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and kind teachers. Ms. Pam has been there for over 20 years, and she is wonderful. Our daughter will be heading off to kindergarten in the fall, and it will be so sad to say our goodbyes at the end of August. We have loved each teacher for the way they have helped both of my kids develop into the beautiful, caring people they are today. My kids are different people, with their individual personalities, and both have been able to grow and flourish into incredible versions of themselves. Ms. Melissa is the Pre-K teacher for my daughter, and this class is incredible. My daughter has learned so much since being in this class. The way Ms. Melissa makes learning fun and creative and engages the kids is remarkable. Sidenote: I have attended a few field trips over the years, and I will say every single time we arrive somewhere, the first thing I hear is how much they love Starbright kids because they are so well-behaved and have such great manners. Lastly, Lexie and Jen are incredible, and like family. They know every single child's name, parents' name, and have a story to tell you about something that your kid did that week. I always appreciate communication via email when something changes, and the willingness to talk and find a resolution if there is a concern. They keep things running smoothly, and they truly care about every child that comes through. We will forever be grateful to Starbright. I have tears just writing this.

I was so sad to pull my son out of after only being there for 6 months because I REALLY loved how they loved and cared for my son. But he started to feel unsafe and would cry and fight going. When I asked why, he would tell me the name of one teacher who just made him feel unsafe. I came to learn that anytime my son had to be around Ms. Nevi that he would do what he could to leave the immediate area. I also noticed little things that she would say or do didn't always add up. I cherish the memories we have from Starbright and was really looking forward to my second baby going there- but I couldn't continue to keep my son in a place with a teacher that he would scream in discomfort about.
