Why would you allow,or clear,a patient for AN ELECTIVE SURGERY,when that patient had sepsis (Enterococcus faecalis),not responding whatsoever to treatment,her heart valve also had this growing on it (They were going to send her to Mercy Hospital, NEVER DID) and pneumonia. They first said she was too sick to go to the OR,then someone said they were going to take,then no again.This went on for about 5 or 6 changes.We asked time again what was going on ,and we're told,shes going into surgery.... Later that night coded.... Sent to ICU... Passed away at 8:03 a.m. the next day,but im thinking it was before that. Shouldn't the heart,which runs everything AND the bacteria be "fixed" or tended to first? Absolutely NO communication between staff,nobody could answer ANYTHING and when you did ask,you were really putting them out. My experience with them has been their endoscopy department for the past several years. This was my first visit during the pandemic and I must say the service and the efficiency and time management all were 10/10. My appointment was for 10:15 am and I was called in sharp at 10:15 am. The staff was friendly and super attentive. Katherine did all my paperwork and the initial assessment she was friendly and quick. Charlaine was my post procedure nurse. She was so so caring and attentive. Kept checking on my every 5 mins. She figured I was a bit cold and went in and got me warm blankets twice. Of course not the forget my doctor and his team was super efficient. The place was following full covid protocols and the recovery room which is also the initial assessment room was nicely spaced out. In the main lobby they have couches, chairs and tables with spacing and there is a Tim Hortons and Ginos pizza in case you want to eat after the procedure which makes you starve for about 24 hours. They treated me at the top with wound care as well, when I could of lost my foot they did the necessary treatments to save my foot. When I was struggling financially to pay my bills I applied for a medical scholarship at the hospital and they took care of my bills 100 percent for a whole year and if needed they will allow me to apply for another scholarship. She Refused to put me back on a medication that I had already been prescribed by 2 other doctors, that she could clearly see in my patient chart. My guess is that she's fearful of getting in trouble with the DEA for prescribing me this specific medication. It falls under the AMAS DEprescribing guidelines by the DEA for opiates AND BENZODIAZEPINES. I Filed a grievance against her through my insurance company for not providing me the adequate care that I need. And that is why she sent me a letter that said she can no longer continue with me as her patient. Also in the letter it said that my condition needs immediate care under another doctor and to find another doctor within 30 days. I'd also like to mention that she refilled a script for me on 9/24. And on 9/25 is when I was sent a letter that she said "I find it necessary to withdraw myself from your ongoing care due to a break in patient/doctor relationship." Which means she cut me off because she wouldn't prescribe me the medication for my severe anxiety and PTSD that I've already been on through two different doctors. Another thing I'd like to complain about is she doesn't stay in the room with you for more than 10 minutes, no matter how many questions you have for her. She is so loaded up on patients that she can't spend 10 minutes in a room with me. AND SHE IS STILL ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. My insurance company told me that she will eventually be able to take no patients that have the same insurance that I do. Do yourself a favor and when you're looking for a new doctor Skip right over Shannon Coleman, PA. SHE WOULDN'T EVEN PROVIDE ME WITH OTHER DOCTORS THAT ARE ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS. All of the medical staff was professional, informed and caring. They went out of their way to make sure she was informed of what was going done and what was being done, all of which was explained in plain English. The nurses were hard working and in most cases the most professional we have ever encountered. (One had a bad attitude and only appeared in the room once). Response times to the nurse call button was very, very fast even in the busiest times. The longest wait during the entire stay was about 5 minutes and was accompanied with profuse apologies when the nurse arrived. Emergency room staff was caring and very easy to speak with. All of her and my questions were answered, again, in plain English. As the test were being done, we received regular updates about time frames and results when they were available. Transportation staff in all areas of the hospital were caring and very professional. Without exception, they were personable and very easy to speak with. The rooms were exceptionally clean and kept well stocked with items that staff and my wife needed. Bathrooms were also clean and there was an ample supply of soaps, wash cloths and towels. The only down side to the entire stay was the food which must be explained came from the Buffalo General Hospital kitchens. For the first 2 days, the food was visually appealing and very tasty. After that, the quality and quantity degraded incredibly and the requested menu items were usually missing and replaced with other items that her previously prescribed low salt and post heart attack special diet mandated. Menus never seemed to match availability. There also seemed to be a cross contamination issue as the fruit plates provided with her cottage cheese always (3 instances) smelled and actually tasted like fish. At one point, she was feeling very weak. From experience, we knew salt was so low that it was below the mandated Ievels. I had to bring in outside foods to help. That was nothing that a bag of Fritos couldn't fix. Visitor food options are well met by the facility cafeteria and several individual providers. In closing, this medical facility is as good as it gets. The care is incredible but bring your own food.

I had to get treatment yesterday and, the staff were polite and, it has not changed much since Covid-19 and, it has not changed much. I was there for more than 6 hours and, I had to speak to a doctor after almost 6 hours-I had not been there for treatment very sparingly over 10 years. I know of a staff member who has been employed more than 15 years. I am impressed by the staff and, their kindness and, I left feeling a lot different and, I told the doctor that I was not sick. It is obvious that the hospital spends millions on marketing material in an effort to convince the general public they care, this money would be better spent on the patient. Avoid at all cost.
