Dr. P is amazing! Please disregard anything else read in other comments; things get emotional with pets, and this doctor feels them with you, so I can't imagine why anyone would ever say differently about her other than just trying to lash out and get their unsettled feelings heard, but this vet hears them all. She is old school and likes to get to know her patients and parents, and your struggle and journey becomes hers. I could never do what she does, it requires a heart and soul much bigger than I have ever seen. If you need and want care for your pet I highly recommend this office. They will take care of you, but also remember they are not a commercial 15min appt vet, so to fit new patients in sometimes takes time, but if she can fit you in she will and once you're n you're family. I can't sing enough praises for them in this office, will forever be great full for their care so far. read more

I hate writing a negative review but feel strongly that Vets shouldn't treat clients like this. It demeans the bond that clients have with their pets medical doctor. I moved here last year from Chicago and researched and selected Dr. Dressen since we have very like minded philosphies with our pets. I was so excited to work with her and went to her office about 6 times and she even came to my house once for treatment. My dogs are well behaved and I am compliant with treatment. In june, I suffered a horrendous car accident and it was a very difficult time. ABout this same time, Dr. Dressen and her office stopped returning my messages. It has now been 5 plus months. I have called, emailed, sent a letter and text, all with no reply. I have spoken to Dr. Dressens colleagues as at first, I was concerned for her health. They all assured me she would never ghost anyone and that this simply wasn't her personality. I find people who ghost lack emotional maturity. Before I moved to Colorado, I have never experienced this treatment by anyone in a professional setting. She has been my only vet here and I find it highly irresponsible and uncaring to blow someone off who is your client. You are responsbile for the well being of my pets and you are licensed and carry an oath to do so. How difficult is it to communicate with someone about the situation or if there was an issue. Just like those on the other end of being ghosted in a personal relationship, this leaves me feeling like I did something wrong, worrying and feeling anxious. When in all reality, I did nothing wrong. While I found Dr. Dressen a lovely person to work with , this ignorning of my messages defeats that positivity and I am left giving her the lowest score. I have since found other holistic care givers for my pets and feel blessed to have that opportunity. I also continue to work long distance with my Chicago based holistic vet, and have for the past 10 years. Ghosting someone lacks respect and maturity. I feel burdened to post this so others can be forwarned. Without a office(she works out of her home), I can't just stop by and see what is going on. While I wish you well, I think you should rethink the way you treated me. I am also considering reporting her to the AVMA as I am sure this goes outside of the guidelines they instill. read more

Was excited to find a local area holistic vet. I Tried to get more information & pricing on this practice, so I called & left a voicemail message. Voicemail also says can text as well. So I also sent a text since I do have voice issues. Those messages were left on 7/20/21. It's almost a month later and never heard back. Dr. Priscilla Dressen is kind and amazingly knowledgeable. I don't like to give my pets any medication they don't need, and I'm not one treat everything with antibiotics. Dr. Dressen understands this and has an arsenal of simple, natural remedies for most issues - remedies that regular vets are blind to. My dog came down with lyme disease and went through 2 rounds of antibiotics before we found Dr. Dressen. She gave us a natural immune builder, and Scumpa has been symptom free since, which was over a year ago. Lastly, Dr. Dressen is amazingly kind to your pet... she even won over my growling, defensive middle-aged dog. I've taken my cat to her also, and again Dr. Dressen was nothing but kind, gentle and understanding. I can't say enough good about her! read more

My Aussie and I just met Dr. Dressen today for an initial consult and acupuncture. I love her philosophies on vaccinations and preventative care, and really appreciated that she didn't hold my dog's guardy, ridiculous behavior against us. By the end of the session, my dog was happily ensconced on the couch, with acupuncture needles sticking out of her. We really appreciated Dr. Dressen's time and approach to veterinary medicine. Dr. Dressen has now seen each of my four critters for various ailments (ranging from acute issues such as ocular discharge and back injury to more chronic problems such as adrenal stress and autoimmune reactions and senior cat kidney issues). I have been very satisfied with the level of care and the supplement and dietary recommendations we have received. Dr. Dressen also just started doing laser therapy, which has been used in all sorts of applications from wound recovery to musculoskeletal inflammation. Here is a recent NIH publication that talks about the benefits of low-level laser therapy: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC522143/ In reference to the one negative review, Dr. Dressen's approach is *different* from that of a conventional veterinarian, but different doesn't equate to not being 'real help'. Her approach looks at an animal's overall well-being and helping the body to heal rather than treating one ailment at a time with antibiotics, steroids, and the like, which carry their own risks of side effects from mild gastric upset to antibiotic resistance and diabetes. This will take more time because it involves more of a 'lifestyle' change than a quick fix drug-based solution. If this more holistic approach does not fall in line with your personal medical philosophies (because the Western medical model is just one of many healing philosophies around the world, not *the* medical model), then you probably will be better satisfied with a more conventional veterinarian. Many of the people I know who use Dr. Dressen (including myself) also have conventional vets that they work with. Some things are more easily diagnosed and treated at my conventional vet and others are much better suited to Dr. Dressen's approach. There is value in both types of practices. Went there in person today to find out some information about the place because the majority of the website is "under construction" and had a few questions to ask about the holistic practice. Lady came outside and was very rude to me and told me I have to call and make an appointment and no one is allowed to walk in. When I told her I just had a couple questions she said she didn't have time. I didn't appreciate how I was approached and will not be taking my cat to get treated there. read more

I have known & been taking my animals (dogs, cats, snakes & fish) to North Star since 1997. My pets never feel scared or anxious upon arrival for appointments...quite the contrary, they are excited to see Dr. Dressen. Her approach & philosophy in treating your furry children is complete wellness. She doesn't just write you a script for antibiotics & send you on your way. She spends a dedicated amount of time (sometimes up to 2 hours if needed) to connect with your pet and try to find all underlying causes of whatever problem exists. It's not as of she is adverse to prescribing antibiotics and other conventional medicine whatsoever....she is just very comprehensive in her assessment. Not only is she an amazing doctor but one of the leading acupuncturists in Colorado and will devote her time to understanding your pet's needs whether it be holistic or conventional. As far as major operations go (broken limbs, torn soft tissue, etc needing surgical repair), she is not set up for things of that nature anymore but always refers people to A+ doctors in the community. For example, a few of our pets have needed Cruciate repair surgery, broken limb operations & dental surgery....Dr. Dressen referred us to Paws and Claws Vet Clinic with Dr. Kevin Schramm &&&& he has been truly amazing helping us with all of our surgical needs! The only thing we are sad about is that we moved out of state about a year ago and finding a new doctor for our furry children has been a nightmare! We have not found ANYONE that measures up to the quality of care received at North Star and we miss Dr. Dressen immensely!!! Besides missing the great CO weather, Priscilla is #2 on our list! My Border Collie and I had our first visit with Dr. Dressen today for a wellness check up and an anal gland expression. Dr. Dressen was so knowledgeable and she even helped me to learn how to perform the anal gland expression myself so that I can do it at home. My dog loved her and the environment that she provides is so calming and warm, so unlike a conventional veterinary office. She answered all of questions about vaccinations, raw food diets, and various other things that I had on my mind, spending a whole hour with us! This is unheard of in a regular veterinary office for just a wellness exam. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a more natural and holistic approach to veterinary medicine. read more

I've been using Priscilla as my DVM for over 15 years now. She is amazing! My animals all love her!! She is so gentle and kind and so is Martha (her office asst). She's treated all of my animals including my beloved black lab that has since passed away. In his golden years he had severe hip pain, couldn't take him on walks anymore. Priscilla suggested acupuncture. She would meet us at the park under a tree and give the tx's. Within two weeks, it seemed to take away his pain completely as he had a renewed spring in his step. He enjoyed walks once again and kept up the pace with my much younger terrier. Priscilla will even come to your house when you need to put a loved animal to sleep. She does everything with such tender loving care and all my animals are always happy to see her. read more
