I was truly skeptical, my PCP had been really serious with me the last three years about having weight loss surgery, I refused due to all the horror stories I had heard / witnessed. When asked, "Did they do exactly as the doctor told them?", my answer was no, they hadn't. I agreed to research the process and make a decision. I visited Dr. Long at the Nicholson Clinic, he told me I was a good candidate for the surgery, but there was no hard sales press, no pressure, it would be up to me. I explored it, did all the required steps and determined if I really wanted to live a healthier life, this would be the tool for me. I started my pre-op diet at 294, and in less than 4 months I'm down 66 pounds and feeling better than I have since probably my 20's - I'm 53. I've done exactly what they've said, and it's the best decision I've ever made for my health. No more blood pressure medicine, knees don't hurt all the time anymore, I can buckle my airline seat belt, slide into a booth, sit in any chair, don't snore anymore and am enjoying going from a size 26 jeans to a size 18. I'm about half way or so to my goal, which is to be healthy. Dr. Long is great, Lindsey the Medical Assistant makes you feel like you're with your friend and confidant as she takes all your measurements - kind and not judgy. Adam and Rick are two of the PA's I've seen - so kind and informative!! Candace is there for all your questions via email or facebook, no matter how gross or personal or embarrassing - she also has some amazing videos to help coach you through. Rachel is my patient advocate and has helped with all the pre- and post details I needed with insurance and anything else I've needed. And the office staff is always so friendly and helpful. The waiting room has chairs for bigger folks like I was, so I could sit comfortably, but frankly, my wait wasn't long. My surgery and hospital people were fantastic, and I've followed the steps, and you'll still see me on the Facebook group - and you will see me there for a long time to come. Thanks Nicholson Clinic. We spent an entire week calling Mary Martinez without ever speaking to her or receiving a callback. When we finally reached a manager, we were told she had contacted us, which was simply not true from our experience. I have lost count of how many calls it took just to get someone to answer the phone. Extremely disappointing treatment for patients going through such an important process.

The doctor was very friendly and let me know that if I ever need an appointment and a time isn't listed on Zocdoc, I can just call and they can fit me in. This practice seems to really care about their patients. We first visited her on a friends recommendation after my wife became seriously ill. She woke up paralyzed.. An otherwise healthy 35 year old woman, great diet, regular excessive, woke up in severe pain. Unable to walk. Now, this want my first stop. I am a nurse and though yes we use essential oils and other homeopathic remedies, this was an emergency. We went straight to the ER. They found out she had... Nothing. They found absolutely nothing. We did every scan in the world, CT, MRI, x-rays, etc etc, blood works for days, EMG, etc, etc. Then suddenly, she could walk. Still not right though something was clearly wrong, she needs a walker. We were discharged, no diagnosis. Just follow up appointments. Neurology, endocrinology, pain management, primary doctor, spinal care team, etc etc. All with the exact same response, nothing. There is nothing we can find that is causing this. After a second episode. A longer battle that time, same response, nothing. The doctors all pretty much said, she'll have to deal with this over and over. We were recommended to see Dr. Duncan by a friend.
