The next 1/3 of the trail was the uphill slopes. Great trail, mostly clear of fallen trees. Pleasant workout. The last part was steep with beautiful rocks and few trees. The summit offers stunning views of Rosario Strait. It's easy to hear the bald eagles' call. They also soared overhead. It took us an hour to reach the summit from Eagle Harbor, so this is very doable. Next time I'll wear hiking boots--it was more challenging in running shoes. The views at the summit are worth the sweaty work to get there.

Come rain or shine, Bellinghamsters show up in force in holiday costumes and with bells on their…read moreshoes to run/walk this flat 5k course each year in support of the Arthritis Foundation. The race starts at the Bellingham High School on Cornwall Avenue and snakes through the Lettered neighborhood. The school band performs at the start line and gets everyone jazzed up as they pick up their race packets. Along the course, there are usually cheerleaders and people holding fun signs of encouragement. You can register online as an individual or as a team for this event. Those raising additional money for the Arthritis Foundation can win prizes for reaching certain fundraising levels. In 2014, I managed to score some fun, candy stripped, knee-high, wool socks for my efforts. If you don't want to run, you can walk. If you don't want to walk, you can donate on behalf of an individual or team who is participating. It is a great non-profit to support, and the Arthritis Foundation makes it easy for everyone to get involved and educated about the cause. FYI, it is worth going to the pre-packet pickup event held several days before the race. It is an event in itself. In 2015, the pre-packet pickup was held at Wilson Motors. Kulshan Brewery was handing out sparkling cider and beer on tap. You could enjoy bratwurst or pork tenderloin. The kids can get photos with Santa and his elves or take a horse carriage around the lot. The best part....all of this fun was provided free! This is truly a B'ham holiday tradition that everyone should come out and do each year.

They had a costume contest, the Bellingham High School band playing, a few booths set up with fun goodies and snacks, and was really a fun turn out! A few street were covered in ice, but the route was pretty well planned and we slipped and slid to the finish line! They also allowed dogs for those who signed up to walk, and there was a lot of furry friends joining us in the fun! There seemed to be plenty of street parking and parking spaces in the schools near by. This was a great event for a great cause and plan to make this an annual run to join!

This is a great date idea or even a good destination for hanging out with buddies. The lane behind us was having a party where younger kids were there, so I don't believe it's 21+. They provide multiple types of throwing instruments which were decently sharp. The smaller axes and throwing knives were made by Smith & Wesson - so you feel like more of a bad @ss throwing them - and they were fun to throw. They also allowed me to perfect my form for throwing the larger axes, which was my favorite instrument. The staff provided guidance for throwing since it was our first time. They were also available throughout our session for follow-up questions and guidance on throwing which was very helpful. One of the best parts is the smell. As you enter, you're immediately hit with the smell of freshly chopped wood which is awesome. The decor is also very inviting with tons of pictures of happy axe-throwing customers lining the walls. There's a separate bar upstairs with interesting games to play and canned/bottled alcoholic beverages, hopefully for after you're done throwing axes!

They had us run in 2 - 15 minute segments and none of us could quit smiling from the time we completed the first lap. The carts are pretty fast and driving them is an experience. No power steering, no power brakes, my hands and arms were tired when we were all done from zipping around the tight corners and trying not to crash into the walls. The only thing I'd do different is see if we could run 3 -10 minute segments versus 2 -15 minutes. Breaking it up a little would have been better.

The entire team was great to work with - Vinnie, Dan, and Kyle made the deal a breeze. The boat is as great as I hoped! Last Fall the boat took some damage from back to back hurricanes. Vinnie (Sales), Kristina (Parts), and Danny (Service) stepped up to take care of me - More than stepped up actually. They treated me like family and took every step to ensure my boat was brought back to showroom condition with little effort from me. They completed repairs (both mechanically and cosmetically) quickly. They even completed the trips between my Marina and their Service Bay. We have had the boat back for some time, Each Clearwater Rep reaches out intermittently just to make sure everything is perfect with the boat. A dealer that supports through a sale AND goes above and beyond after is a rare find. Hats off to the staff!

We bought a brand new Mercury 6 hp 4 stroke as a kicker for our boat. It was one of the few brand…read morenew things we bought because we needed to trust it. First time out, it leaked. We took it back to Clearwater Marine and they tried to accuse us of laying the motor on the wrong side, even though it was THEIR guy who put it in the back of our truck, and it has been mounted on the boat the rest of the time. Supposedly they fixed it, and then when we turned it on to troll for fish the other day, it leaked again. Took it back again, and it turned out to be a missing gasket in the fuel pump!! They blamed it on the factory, which doesn't make me want to trust this motor. They do not stand behind the product they sell and supposedly service, they tried to blame us for something that absolutely wasn't the case, and when I said I would try it out and bring it back if it still leaked, the manager told me to bring it to another store, they wouldn't take it. On top of that, when I tried to register the motor with Mercury when I first bought it, it turned out it had been registered to someone else. So I paid for a brand new motor, but obviously it wasn't brand new. So, buyer beware.

Our trip to Washington took a weird turn when our plans changed overnight. We pretty much were…read moreleft to do what ever we wanted rather than scheduled things with extended family. So we went to the lake. This lake was located right around the corner from our Airbnb. Its very easy to find and if you get here early enough there is lots of parking. We just brought our towels and swim suits and picked a spot on the grass near the sand. It was a very sunny day out in Washington. The kids headed right out and walked out to the floating decks. They were able to jump off and swim around. They had so much fun. We were here all day. They have a small snack shack with limited options. We got ice cream at some point. Then suddenly the kids and my husband decided that they wanted to take a paddle boat out into the lake. I had no interest. They had a good time. I personally thought it was too windy and at some point my husband had jump out and swim push the boat back to the shore. He made sure to let the people working that they should warn people that the wind may make it very hard to paddle back to shore. All in all it was a fantastic afternoon. The kids wanted to come back again but our trip was cut short and the time we did have didn't account for a second visit. Not sure we will ever be back again but we would if we could.

The park is large with much space to run and play, explore and enjoy. Buildings (pavilions, basketball court/gym) are available on the grounds for private rental, and plenty of parking can be found on the property. (On hot summer weekends, parking does fill up quickly.)
