Incredible Academic Programs, Toxic Administration…read more As a student with a 3.95 GPA and a member of both Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Beta National Honor Societies, I can attest that the actual education at NCC is top-tier. Many of my professors were brilliant, supportive, inclusive, fun, and they truly cared about my success as a scholar. Food and beverages are always decent and available, and the counseling is top-notch. Unfortunately, the rest of the administrative side of this college is a nightmare for students with disabilities. After returning from a medically cleared leave and successfully completing a full year, I was met with extreme clerical incompetence regarding my Financial Aid and SAP status. The Disability Services Coordinator was highly unprofessional, condescending, religiously discriminatory, and verbally abusive. Despite my high honors, I was treated as though I was a slacker after needing to take necessary withdraws. I was berated, patronized, and told to "just accept Cs" in subjects where I have a severe learning disability. The office was overall dismissive and unhelpful, with the coordinator even personally admitting to me that she only took her job because she was "bored" with retirement. Towards the end of our call, she asked me if I celebrated Christmas, as the holiday was 3 days away at the time. I told her "no", as I practice Eclectic Wiccanism and celebrate Yule instead. So she simply replied with something among the realm of: "Well, I WOULD wish you Happy Holidays, but you don't believe in any of it." She knew I was of a different faith beforehand, and she decided to disrespectfully act as though I told her I was an atheist who merely celebrated nothing. One of the deans also failed to take action regarding student harassment I had been facing the majority of the semester. I'd like to note that the student had broken the no-contact rule initially put in place multiple times, but nothing was ever done about it because: 1.) I was told their actions fall "in between" breaking and NOT breaking the no-contact order, supposedly putting them in this "gray-area". 2.) She essentially told me to "tough it out", as the semester was going to be ending soon anyway. I was also personally targeted via a phishing scam impersonating NCC after the semester ended. I strongly suspect that was perpetrated by the same individual who had already been harassing me. I say this because it's highly unlikely and very unrealistic that a random phisher would only target 1 college student out of hundreds. NCC always announces trouble on both campuses (here and at Bethlehem), so if this was a widespread phishing problem, I feel a very bold warning would've been issued to everyone. Of course, I reported it. However, I feel the dean only had the email deleted and no further action was taken to see who might've been responsible. For a college that claims to be a community, they failed to protect me when it mattered most. I really wanted to give this campus a 5 star review, as I have a significant positive history there. But after all that has happened, I simply cannot. Go here for the professors, but if you have a disability or require any additional help from the "higher-ups," be prepared to fight every step of the way. I am transferring to a college that respects its students fully and follows federal law.

They've…read morebeen helpful using my GI Bill, advisors are always available and helpful, and classes are at night so I can stay home with my daughter. Take up to two classes per term, with each term lasting 8 weeks. Classes meet one night per week. I see all kinds of people with all different things going on in their lives, but one thing in common- they're all getting a degree! Bachelors and Masters programs. 4/5 stars because I had brand new teachers for a few classes and didn't like that they didn't seem to know how things work or what they were doing. New teachers should shadow another to learn first.

Every time I come up there is something new. I love seeing the fall foliage here and the bright happy spirits of all the townspeople. It is right next to the wonderful town of New Paltz with its bustling nightlife and restaurants. You get the full college experience in a couple miles. It is easy to walk around and do everything you need. It is far enough to get away from the craziness of the city but still be able to enjoy yourself.

I was accepted to four schools and chose this one, and it was absolutely the right choice. My professors are very supportive, I love my cohort, and our practicum coordinator is great. I had to take undergrad statistics there before applying to the master's program (my bachelor's is in a different subject), and my professor Glenn Geher was really helpful. This might sound hyperbolic, but it's rare in life to have something turn out even better than you hoped. I feel very lucky to be here.

I graduated in 2016 and have returned for a few wedding ceremonies. I've written extensively about…read morewhether Lehigh is a good deal and what college life here was like, so this review is more about the food and the setting. This is one of the most beautiful college campuses in the United States of America. For weddings, the chapel is breathtaking and there are dozens of spots on campus at which a group could take nice pictures. While the hillside setting is the envy of hundreds of colleges, it's been said that some of the freshman residence halls are at the highest elevation east of the Mississippi River. Daily journeys involve awkward undulating paths and hundreds of stairs (none with consistent spacing), and "seeing campus" is not a feasible quest for a huge portion for the median out-of-shape American. Regarding the food, dining on campus was controlled by Sodexo, the company that provides food to prisons. Pricing was extortionate and quality was awful. I recall a constant rotation of "breakfast for dinner" where the morning's food was re-heated for dinner, and a mad rush for basic foods like pizza when the main protein offering would be disgusting salisbury steak. I believe this terrible marriage began in 2010 or so, as when I started at Lehigh in 2012, older students reminisced on a slightly-better food scene that included an on-campus Chik-fil-A. There was an elevated tier of (Sodexo branded) dining options in the building where the Chik-fil-A used to be, which all charged a premium in "meal swipes" (of which students maybe received 250 per semester) and prepared passable ready-made dishes formed out of frozen, preservative-laden ingredients. You would be hard pressed to find an alumnus whose underclassman experience wasn't affected by how bad the food was. I was lucky to meet people at Lehigh who were similar to me in terms of their outspokenness, and one guy submitted a detailed complaint and suggestion sheet to Sodexo "management." They sat down with him and thanked him and then proceeded to do nothing. The extra meal budget I had to beg my parents for to eat mid campus-edge food (The Goose and Johnny's Bagels) was probably $400/mo, which really hurt back then. The school has some things going for it, just not the food.

In addition to having the ability to walk across a gorgeous campus, there is access to a local rail-trail. The professors, both tenured and adjuncts, at the university care about sharing their knowledge with students while encouraging class discussions. If a student needs extra help, professors go out of their way to be helpful and the tutoring center is a great resource. I found the student body to be welcoming, friendly, and passionate about learning. There are a number of student organizations on campus and activities to participate in. For example, I co-hosted a radio program on campus. There are also interesting lectures that take place on campus. I highly recommend enrolling at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

His dorm is lovely (much nicer than my other son's dorm was at another school), his friends are fantastic, and he is thrilled to participate in activities. The campus has a genuine community feel. Academically, the professors care about students and make connections with them. The small class sizes and accessible faculty have meant that he has been offered opportunities that would not have been available to him at a larger schools. We feel confident that he is developing strong critical thinking, research, and communication skills that will prepare him for graduate school, which is his current trajectory. We are thrilled with the choir program (if your kid sings, join their choir!), which has been both enriching for him. We are also excited about the study abroad program he has applied to, as it reflects the school's commitment to global learning and academic exploration. If there is one area for continued growth, it would be investing in additional faculty and modest campus expansion, as the school's strong programs and close-knit environment would benefit from slightly increased capacity. Overall, this has been an excellent choice!

Just moved our son in and I was really disappointed with the cleanliness. His dorm room floor was…read morehorrible. I do not think it was mopped after the previous students moved out. The oven and fridge in the common room had spilled food in them and the counters were not wiped down...and this was on day 1! I expect that kind of thing mid-semester, but this seemed a bit much on the first day. Our son went to the gym and he said all the equipment looked like it needed a good cleaning as well. The people have been very nice so far and I have been pleased with the interactions he's had with administration, but I was disappointed on the cleanliness.
