He was packing up to go, leaving a large 2-foot-deep hole where he had dug. I had figured that the job included filling in the hole too. He said he had not planned on that and was willing to bring in topsoil and fill it for an extra price. We agreed and he filled the hole and planted grass. We now have a one foot deep hole, with grass, roots and large rocks sticking up (ruined 2 lawn mower blades on it). 2 weeks later some missed bamboo sprung up so we called him, leaving a message - not for him to come back, just to advise us on the best way to manage it. We also mentioned the future work we had discussed. We called 8 times and he never returned our calls. On one occasion we did get him and he promised to call us back the next day. We haven't heard from him since. Do not trust Spicer's. They did shoddy work and then ghosted us. I have to hire another company to dig up the rocks and roots, add the right amount of topsoil, and replant it. I will never call them again.

The tank was severly compacted due to ?? 20 years of neglect. Due to the compaction, was not able to properly pump out easily. Dickie offered to go to his next stop, come back and force flush the remaining sludge in order to perform a full and complete pumpout. I agreed, and within 2 hours he was back, ran hoses again and was successful in dislodging and completly cleaning out the compacted sludge. Instead of charging me for two pumpouts, as would be customary I'm sure from any other company, we agreed pn a very reasonable extra charge for the additional time and work. Not to lock him in on his rate; I just want to say that his price was more than generous. He gave me his appointment date and start time and showed up with his crew and equipment and got right to it. Never have I seen such a hard-working team. They did a great job in a short time. They took down the Part that was laying on my roof, cut away all the branches to prevent further damage and cut down the entire tree, cleaning up the yard as they worked. They took away all of the branches and the big logs, then they ground the stump down. They were at my house at the scheduled time and were gone by 2 pm. I highly recommend this business. In the early November windstorm a section blew out. I patched it together and wrote them. They did not respond, so two weeks later I wrote again. They responded that they would be coming up with a "quote" to repair the fence. The fault was an upper member had been cut too short, which was an installation error. I protested and they said they would send someone out to look at the fence. That was a month ago. In the meanwhile, as other windstorms were coming, I wound up screwing a large metal bracket to what should be a nice vinyl fence. They do good initial work but do not support their product.

I had a great experience with Durham Fence Co, although I did end up going with another option in…read morethe end. I still wanted to give them a quick Yelp shoutout! Matt came out to give me a quote on just a day's notice, all the way in West Hartford. He was the only contractor that really got in and shook the fence which needed repairs. He really wanted to understand the structural problems. He explained everything thoroughly and had an innovative idea for the driveway gate we wanted to put in. Matt was super fast to email me a quote the next day ... Something I appreciated, especially when another West Hartford fence contractor still hasn't responded three weeks later! He was quick to respond to email questions and followed up well. Ultimately, we ended up going with a different contractor due to the slightly decreased cost. This was no fault of Durham Fence Co's. It was essentially a different job which was proposed. The other contractor agreed to use some existing poles we had in use while Matt wanted to ensure they'd be replaced to ensure the quality of the work. Totally makes sense. I will certainly consider hiring Durham Fence in the future.
