I've been a certified CCW carrier for many years and I've used NFI the entire time. I've recently been confined to a wheelchair and wouldn't you know, it was during the time for me to renew my CCW. NFI has the classroom portion of the training available on ZOOM and I was able to utilize that program. The ZOOM call process was simple and the teaching right on par with the in person classes I've taken in previous years. The next day was the live fire range day and I was concerned about traversing the grounds at the gun club where this training was held. My concerns were for nought as staff was very helpful in ensuring that I could access my shooting lane and helped by making a couple of trips back to my vehicle to ensure I had all of my necessary equipment. I specifically had Emily as the range instructor and her techniques and directions were exceptional, not to mention her one-to-one assistance was greatly appreciated. TL;DR - Thank you Paul and crew - I've attended other carry classes but this was by far the most fun. I had a good time and learned some things. I have been shooting for a while but needed this class to meet CA requirements. The class was 16 hours over 2 days. Day one was held at Placer Sporting Club in Roseville. Day two at Bass Pro Shop in Rocklin. On the first day we spent several hours going over multiple topics including an hour on Mental Health that was better than any corporate training on the subject I've attended. In the afternoon we were split into two groups, one to go to the indoor range, the other to stay in the class. The class room group received some scenario training, a written exam, and draw stroke practice. The group on the range performed some drills before live fire testing. Once everyone on the range completed their live fire requirements, the groups switched. The class on day two was a bit less than half the size of day one. We did a little more depth on some of the topics covered on day one as well as covered a bit on holster selection. read more
