These guys over here at American truck school deserve all five stars. I had been having problems with Jiffy's truck rental and ultimately failed my test 3 times in a row. The one time I came over here, they helped me out a bunch. I doubled with another student for a few hours training with Kevin. Super informative and tests you on your knowledge and if you grasp the concept which is exactly what the DMV testers are looking for. That you understand the steps you are doing. I did my backing maneuvers well and drive for 30-45 minutes with Kevin then went to the DMV. Hour and a half later, call them to pick me up after I had passed they were there within a short amount of time. Couldn't thank these guys enough for helping me out and understanding I was ripped off by Jiffy 3 times. They're success rate on passing you is much higher than Jiffy. My buddy and his buddy tested the Saturday before I did and they both passed. Which says it all as opposed to the sketchy and unprofessional place at Jiffy. Thanks again to the staff here, I really appreciate you all and your professionalism. Edit: if you're a veteran they accept the GI Bill for a short 4 week course up to 15 weeks with no money out of your pocket. read more

AAA Rating! The staff here genuinely cares about your success! I drove from Fresno because it's much quicker to get appointments up in Redding, compared to Fresno. The staff went out of their way to help me between my initial scheduling (office Secretary is amazing) to extra studying tips (my teacher Ken!) the study guide is so helpful! The staff is creative is when trying to link all the oh by the ways together when it comes to test time with acronyms. The trucks are great, clean, presentable and functional. The business owner was very professional and helpful through everything. They also offer Crane Certification, which is something I'll be returning for in the future! Overall I completely recommend this Professional Career Training School! Ken- I'm not sure if you will see this, but thank you for believing in my success and never giving up on me. These guys and gal are legit. I went from zero experience to driving a big rig in 5 weeks! First phone call in I speak with Sativa, and she laid everything out for me as far as what I needed to do to get this thing going...and when I registered and started class boom no surprises everything was exactly like she said it would be. Now on to the classes. Watching the truck inspection video for the first time I was overwhelmed and thought there's no way I can remember all of this. Nate ( aka egg McMuffin, aka hot pocket lol)ensured me "your gonna get this everyday, don't worry about it". And he was absolutely right! When I did go to dmv to test I nailed it and was so confident that I was able to keep a side conversation with the examiner! On to skills...you guys, Ken is the man. A true master of his craft and a perfect instructor for truck driving. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to and learn from. And now on to actually driving a big rig, the whole enchilada, in town, rural area, double clutching a 10 speed and so on. This guy Destry is absolutely, 100%, the reason I am a truck driver today. He never gave up on me and was right there pushing and encouraging me, saying oh I'm gonna make a driver out of you...and then he did. Things weren't always exactly as planned and I'm sure some people will find this and that to pick out and complain about but bottom line is because of them I got my license first try and am getting 15-20 job opportunities a day. I had a once in a lifetime experience at American truck school. They offer a variety of services and certifications including, but not limited to, CDL class A with standard transmissions and air breaks, crane class and certification, bulldozer class and certification, forklift class and certification, and possibly more. Go into the office and talk to Jared he'll give you the rundown on all their services. They also offer rooms to stay in during the week on campus if you're coming from out of town! I chose to get my CDL class A to drive the big trucks. I don't have a lot of money, which I told them, and they were more then willing to work with me on financing. All the instructors have a ton of knowledge, are very friendly, and will work with you every last step of the way until you succeed. For instance, I've never driven a manual transmission nor a vehicle that size before and my very first day on the road my instructor Terry had endless patience with me, shifted the truck for me so I could get a feel for everything, and kept a smile on his face the whole time. They all have nerves of steel and will keep you safe out there while you learn. If you put the work in, I promise they will put triple the work back into you. My DMV test got postponed for a few weeks due to the Carr fire and, while they were dealing with DMV bottlenecking their process, teaching new students and finishing up the students testing out, dealing with the catastrophe themselves, they bent over backwards to go the extra mile for me so I could be successful. Roger, Jared, Nathan, Terry, Tim, and Zach you guys truly do great work in the world helping people better their lives and have a good time doing it. To whomever reads this, don't go anywhere else in California for your truck school come to Redding and do it here with these guys. You will not find a better school, with better instruction, and a better staff then American Truck School. 10 stars guys, I can't recommend you highly enough read more

I don't usually write reviews, however, I recently had the opportunity to attend American Truck School and I can't say enough about this company. Ownership and management are top notch and incredibly accommodating. I had the chance to work one-on-one with an instructor named Ken, who seems to truly loves his job, and is damn good at it. If I had attempted to wing it and take the CDL test on my own, there is no way I would have passed. Because of the knowledge and confidence they instill, I passed my test the first time. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone needing a CDL. A big thank you to Ken and the entire American Truck School crew. read more

What a great experience and great school.. Roger the owner of the company was great, he even came out and taught me how to drive the truck...The instructors were awesome starting with Tim.. great instructor tons of knowledge and was very easy to understand.. Nathan, Niles, and ken were also great instructors... I was there for the 4 weeks and passed my dmv test on the first shot. I had a job before I left awesome school I have nothing but good things to say of your looking for a truck school then AMERICAN TRUCK SCHOOL is where you should go thanks!!!! read more

Great school!!! If you wanna learn how to drive class A there is no better place. The entire staff is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and VERY patient. Nathan is an excellent teacher! He went above and beyond, he makes learning fun. He gave me the confidence I needed to pass. They all make you feel very comfortable. This place sucked! i payed 600 dollars to rent a truck and what i thought was a tutorial for my class A behind the wheel test. And the attitudes from the "receptionist" and some of the instructors was flat out rotten!! I would never refer this place to anyone! read more
