A tale of two roofing jobs…read more It was the best of roofing jobs, it was the worst of roofing jobs. It was a messiest of roofing jobs, it was the cleanest of roofing jobs..... I live in the 'urban core' which is one way of saying the homes in my neighborhood are close together. About two months ago our neighbor had a new roof put on that was NOT with A New Rooftime. She didn't bother telling us. We came home to our front, side and back yard covered in shingles, shingle wrappers, nails and tar paper. I asked the workers if they were going to clean it up. Once they found the jefe that spoke English, he said they would. I was suspicious because the trucks they came in were junk and had nothing on the side of them. Not that that is needed but it's somewhat expected. Anyway, they didn't really clean up. They busted about four of a potting plants. We picked up best we could but are still finding the occassional shingle bit and nail. Last week, A New Rooftime came and did a nice job in no time flat. There was a bit of miscommunication in scheduling it (could have been my fault) but they were also in a hurry to get it done before a forecasted weekend of rain followed by snow. I coudln't be home for it. Neither could my wife. When we did get home, everything was done. Everything was cleaned up. I even have a beehive I told them about and it wasn't messed with at all. I spent some time outdoors and haven't found any of my old shingles in the yard or bushes...although I did find bits of my neighbors. It cost more than I wanted to pay but I'd waited too long to get it done and the damage was rather obvious. My fault but since I couldn't be there they did email some updates and things I needed to know about. I was really impressed.

WARNING!!!!Poor quality of installation does not meet installation guidelines. The contractor did…read morenot install the drip edge or the shingles correctly on the roof. The drip edge was not gaped enough for the siding to be slide under during installation. The shingles also weren't layed to overhang the drip edge as the standard calls for. The poor installation will have major impacts in the future and will be extremely costly for me the homeowner as it also has voided the warranty on my siding. The drip edge and proper over hang of the shingles provide protection from water laying on or behind the siding. The poor and improper install on my roof will allow water to lay on wood siding and seep behind the siding. The contractor was contacted about the issues and made a site visit. He admitted it was not properly installed as the drip edge isn't even visible. He said it would take alot to fix it and cause damages to the rest of the shingles to fix..... meaning to fix properly the entire roof needs to be replaced!!!! Clearly he doesn't want to do what's right and fix the roof on a 800k house. I would imagine he does this often and gets away with it since it will take a couple years to show the effects. I would NOT recommend this roofing company for any type of work. He clearly knows he did wrong and will not correct his mistake. If you have had a roof installed by this company and have issues a couple years down the road it's due to his work. There's more to roofs than just looks, it the most important protection of the life of your house.

I didn't get the receipt (conveniently) nor any change back. There was a $50 rebate for returning the used part but he didn't leave the part & I'd need receipt (so he was planning on keeping that too). Last, repair wasn't done, wasn't done correctly, or sabotaged due to issues with his fee. Also he lost my address & didn't show up the 1st time, then came 1.5 hrs late the 2nd time, which ruined my plans for the evening. This guy is a thief! My rating would be zero or negative if possible since I'm out almost $1,000 at this point.
