Please keep in mind that Lake Superior is the coldest of the Great Lakes, so once the sun sets it gets cold! There is an option to be on the bottom deck, which is enclosed. Part of the middle deck also has windows to shield the air. If you want to remain in the open air, you'll need a blanket and coat! Happy cruising. Also check out the store. About an hour in, we were alerted to the problem formally. 2 hours of our day was unfortunately spent waiting on engine problem diagnosis and return to the dock. We were offered a refund or an option to join a boat tour at a later time. No discount was offered to make up for the loss of our time. I would have hoped the company would check all engines for readiness before launching, not sure how coolant system failure got past the mechanics. Please make sure your boats are ready to operate so that your customers' time is respected.

Kayaked backwards the entire trip, keeping the group moving and calling out the geology and history (and she got jokes). You get on a boat, and they take you out - and you get in the kayak on the rack on the boat and they guide you out. Super easy. PFDs and sea skirts are provided and required! We stayed dry. Also - tandem kayaks! Less nimble than recreational kayaks, but also more stable. Assuming your partner doesn't lean over the edge. It's a nice trip! Another cool thing was how seamless they launched us from the boat into our kayaks. None of us got the slightest bit wet at any part of the tour. AJ had a great sense of humor and kept us laughing. Note: I believe AJ was in a competition with the other guides (who were not nearly as awesome as AJ) I hope he gets extra credit for the number of times AJ appears in one review of AJ. We booked the Ultimate Kayak tour, it was about an hour boat ride out to the rocks, about a 3 hour kayak experience and another hour back. Make sure you bring your sunscreen, even if the temp is cool. There is a restroom onboard the boat, guides are able to radio the boat (as it follows the kayak groups) if someone needs to use the bathroom or needs to return to the boat for any reason. Also, it was so nice to see so much of the rocks and for the length of the kayaking it was one way, we never had to turn around and paddle back upstream. So smart! We highly recommend this tour!

Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disorganized and unprofessional from the moment I arrived. The building was locked, no guide or management staff were present, there was no organized check-in process, and there was absolutely no communication regarding what was happening. Multiple guests were left outside confused and attempting to determine whether the tour was even operating. Company-associated staff eventually arrived but provided no meaningful information until directly prompted. At that point, they stated they were only shuttle drivers and that they had to "figure out what was going on" after the scheduled rendezvous time had already passed. At no point within the first 20 minutes of our rendezvous was there was any clear communication, leadership, organization, or professionalism demonstrated by the company. Considering they're responsible for guiding customers onto Lake Superior, I no longer felt comfortable or safe participating in the excursion and chose not to proceed with 10 minutes remaining until the a scheduled launch time. I attempted to resolve this directly via email since management wasn't present during working hours and present staff couldn't provide a direct way to contact management; however, they refused to issue a refund. The owner instead responded publicly to a review in a defensive manner while claiming an emergency situation had occurred. He even blamed my inability to adapt over his employees vague and unprofessional verbal responses and despite three shuttle drivers being present and not shuttling us to our launch. The issue is the complete lack of communication, organization, professionalism, and reasonable resolution afterward.

This campground looks unassuming at first glance, but it really has everything you need. Our site was equipped with outlets and water hookups, a picnic table, and a fire pit. Firewood is available for purchase at the little camp store. The whole campground sits on the edge of the lake which provides great sunsets. It was oddly quiet in the morning (minus a rude couple using drills to tear down their setup at 6AM, but that was not the campground's fault as they do have quiet hours)-- which is unusual for a family campground. The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

After the first night of my stay, I went to the office to inquire about the campfire policy because…read morea neighboring site's smoke had been blowing through mine for several hours (this was in the daylight, it was warm out, AND the group had left their site and left the fire unattended). The person working laughed at me and essentially told me 'f-you, we don't care about your experience, we aren't going to do anything about it'. Each subsequent night, fires were left burning and unattended while the site occupants slept. On top of the reprehensible customer service and fire safety, the sites are crammed on top of one another with no trees and zero privacy. Also, the water and electric pedestals are shared between 2-4 sites each. On the plus side, it is right on the beach (assuming you can stand being around all the smoke long enough to enjoy it) and close to town. So much for spending time outdoors to enjoy the fresh air.

The living room In our cabin had a queen bed-comfortable for sleeping but we either had to sit at the table or on the bed when we were just hanging out inside. It worked great for us! 4-6 minutes from our kayak tour, the sunken ships tour and the ferry to Grand Island all in Munising.

Nice simple little cabins…read more The owners were quite nice and the price was good. Not a lot of frills. The towels are a bit scratchy and the bed a bit squeeky but overall a nice little cabin. Sitting on the porch an enjoying the sun in the morning was great. Cabins 1 and 2 are by the water but the rest if the cabins do not have a place to access the beach. We came to kayak so it was not an issue for us but if you are looking to hang out at the lake you definitely want cabin 1 or 2.
