Over those 14 years, I worked hard to provide reliable service to them as a small, family-owned business. Like every other business, we have experienced significant increases in labor, materials, insurance, and operating costs over the past five years. When I finally had to adjust my pricing to reflect those realities, the church chose to cancel our service. I understand that every organization has the right to make financial decisions that are best for them. What was disappointing was not the decision itself, but how it was handled. After 14 years of working together, I received only a brief, impersonal email. I believe a simple phone call would have shown basic respect and appreciation for a long-term relationship. I expect more from an organization whose mission is to teach compassion, kindness, and respect. Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those values. I wish them the best, but I hope they will consider treating their long-term vendors with the same dignity and care they encourage within their community.

It was summer and school was out, so it felt like the perfect time to start exploring. From the first visit, we really appreciated the welcoming, small-church feel. It's the kind of place where people genuinely take the time to say hello and get to know you, which made it easy to feel comfortable right away. Pastor Dave is incredibly down to earth, kind, and personable. He's also an excellent communicator--his messages are thoughtful, practical, and easy to connect with. You can tell he truly cares about the people in the congregation and the community around him. One thing that really surprised us was the worship team. For a smaller church, the music is outstanding. The musicians are incredibly talented, and they do a wonderful job leading worship in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. It's clear they put a lot of heart into what they do. Our teenagers immediately connected with the youth group, which meets on Sunday nights at 6pm. They loved it the very first time they went and have been excited to go back ever since. The youth leaders do a great job creating a fun, welcoming environment where teens can build friendships and grow in their faith. As a parent, it's really encouraging to see them excited about being involved. The church also hosts fun gatherings and events that invite the broader community to participate, which shows how much they care about the people around them. It feels like a place that genuinely wants to serve and connect with the neighborhood. What we appreciate most is that there's nothing showy or stuffy about this church. I remember when they used to be in North Indio by Walmart, but it looks like all services have since moved to the building across from Shields Date Garden. I visited their North Indio location many years ago. I didn't end up becoming part of their congregation, but I know several people who attend regularly and really enjoy being part of the Destiny Church community. Even though I'm not part of the congregation, I can see why so many people feel at home here. Based on what I experienced today and what I've heard from others, I'd recommend visiting if you're looking for a welcoming church community.

Today's worship brought back a host of childhood memories as a result of the service being led by the Youth members of FBC who are being encouraged as our next generation of Worship leaders. My home Church back on the East coast promoted this same practice that was my Christian experience once a month, during my upbringing. This practice more importantly honors and follows Biblical teaching re: Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will Not depart from it." As a result of my own mother who raised her children in a Bible teaching Church that involved the Youth, we had seeds of spiritual guidance planted in us that we have not departed from. FBC is truly on the right path with Training, Teaching and Guiding our future Worship leaders and community service disciples, to go out equipped, with their God given Gifts, to serve others and pleasing God.
