i attended a wine tasting and dinner event here. the ambiance was nice. the service was extremely friendly. the wines were a nice variety of flavors. the waiters were accommodating to my lactose intolerance and showed me options on the prefix menu what worked for me. the food was okay, it tasted like a basic restaurant, nothing fancy or amazing to point out. but it was solid. overall i gave it 4 stars more for the service than the food. read more

I attended a wedding here. It's a beautiful venue with outstanding attention to detail. The views of the golf course from the dinning/bar space are great. The staff was on point, super friendly and so congenial. Service was stellar. The upstairs reception area was pretty warm though, everyone was fanning themselves as was the outside wedding ceremony. But to be fair, it was 101 at 6:15 when we arrived in August. The homes surrounding the golf course are stunning. All the food was quite tasty and parking was ample. read more

Just finished a round of golf, and came into the men's locker room at Northgate CC. Juan and Abner greeted me with a big smile. There is a Sunday Brunch @ Northgate going on right now. I come in locker room because I am not dressed for it, and I can watch sports on the television. Northgate offers several great membership options. I play golf so that works best for me. If you are a tennis player there are great options, or if you just want a social membership that is available too. My wife doesn't play golf, but she uses the club for meetings and entertaining. The Northgate Ladies Golf League hosted a very nice InterClub competition event on June 28th and they did a fabulous job!!! The event was well organized and everyone involved with the club was extremely welcoming. The ladies in the league made sure everything ran smoothly. The course was well maintained even with the high 100° temperatures and drought conditions in the area. The facility was extremely clean and well organized. The service was superb! The servers in the buffet line were over-the-top when it came to attentive service. I was very impressed with Northgate Country Club and appreciate seeing a business that is run so well. Whether it is for a beautiful outdoor wedding/indoor reception or a Tee up for Education Charity Golf Tournament, this super charming country club is at the top in Houston. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The restrooms/bathroom spa area was nice and clean. Unfortunately, due to that dude Harvey, they only have two courses, which are both large, scenic/green and well-kept. It doesn't hurt to be surrounded by some super stunning homes, either. I got a chance to taste the food on my last round, and boy oh boy, they have some fried chicken that will go toe to toe with your granny's secret recipe. Talking about fried and seasoned to perfection, the southern staple had me dipping it in the white gravy and sopping it with the homemade biscuit. I was super hangry too so it didn't help my enthusiasm to not eat like I skipped meals. They served mixed vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini, etc. deliciousness!), a salad and for dessert we had vanilla ice cream with your choice of homemade cherry cobbler or blackberry cobbler, just delicious. We lucked out to come on a day full of great sunshine and smiles. read more

Morgan, Tony, and the rest of the NGCC staff were extremely attentive and reactive to all of our needs and requests on our wedding day. I was quite impressed by how quickly and effortlessly everyone pulled together to turn the ballroom from ceremony set-up to reception set-up. Our guests all raved about how good the food and the service was (not to mention how beautiful the club is) and everyone seemed to have a great time despite the rain. Review for the Sunday Brunch: Very impressive Sunday brunch spread. There were five distinct serving areas: 1) soup, salad, appetizers, 2) hot lunch items including carving station, 3) seafood with cocktail shrimp and crab legs, 4) breakfast station with made to order omelettes, 5) desserts. Service is very attentive, but be warned that drinks are charged separately from the buffet. Most of the items were very fresh and very tasty for a buffet. Be sure to look carefully, because I didn't see the seafood and breakfast stations initially and almost left without trying them. One small gripe is that many of the food trays that had covers, did not slide or have hinges, so you had to remove the cover and find a spot to rest it while you scooped some food. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of room on the buffet line to put the large cover, so you had to either balance the cover somewhere or hold it in one hand, place your place on a tiny ledge of the buffet table and serve yourself. Just a small logistical issue but I almost dropped my plate a few times. read more

The course is in great shape. The greens are putting well and consistent. From the tips this course will challenge any golfer. But, there are enough tee options to accommodate all skill levels. The renovation of the Bunkers 9 is almost done and that side has re-opened. There is a nice new member special going on that just can't be beat for this quality of private club. I've been a member for a few years. We had our daughter's wedding reception there. This place is fan damtastic. The way they handled the reception was incredible. Food - outstanding. I expected that having eaten their regular, but their wedding prep - incredible. Staff makes me feel like we're all family. And of course, I play golf there which is an incredible value. First off, I would like to point out that Morgan Mai is an excellent wedding planner. She has done numerous weddings and events at NGCC. When I first started planning my wedding, I was very frustrated and overwhelmed because there was so much to do, so much to choose. However, Morgan helped me every step of the way. I literally could not have had my dream wedding if it wasn't for all of her hard work. She was easy to work with and always had great ideas. She also contacted the vendors to coordinate the set up time for the day of. The country club itself is beautiful; it has a very elegant feel and perfect for pictures. I booked Northgate Country Club for my wedding reception next spring and I am so excited to have it there! The facility is gorgeous and the wedding coordinator, Morgan, is so helpful. She is always readily available and happy to assist. She is a great joy to work with and has made our wedding planning experience easy and enjoyable. To begin, I want to say I have only been to this country club once for a wedding. Normally, I like to visit places several times before writing a review. Therefore, I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and give them three stars as opposed to two or one. Okay, so here goes... This past April, one of my best friends decided to have her wedding here. The grounds were gorgeous and from what I hear, it was one of the more reasonably priced wedding venues that can occupy a larger number of guests. While budget and building capacity are two main things to consider when choosing your wedding venue, I can't stress how essential the coordinator is. I understand there are a million things that go into being an event coordinator and I have the utmost respect for those that choose that profession. While the coordinator was very personal and sweet, professionally, I thought she did a poor job regarding the rehearsal and the actual ceremony. The ceremony was outside so during the rehearsal, the coordinator explained to the bridal party that the girls would take golf carts to the location and then she lead us there. After that, it became quite unorganized and confusing. She didn't command the attention of the bridal party to explain how things were going to go. She only paired the bridesmaids with the groomsmen. I had to ask her when I should start walking down the aisle because I noticed it wasn't uniformed. People were just guessing when to start walking. Once the bridal party was in position, the girls realized the bride's side and the groom's side were backwards. When we asked about it, the coordinator said about 70% of her weddings had the bride's side on the right which seemed odd since everyone in the bridal party had only been to weddings where the bride's side was on the left and the groom's side was on the right. She didn't explain when any of the real details of the ceremony like the unity candle, singers, etc would take place. In that venue, it's quite possible those details are left to the officiant to administer; however, the officiant wasn't present! If I were the coordinator, I would be demanding to get the officiant on the phone to see why he is not there. In my mind, you really only NEED a few key people to show up during the rehearsal: the bride, the groom, and the officiant! Sure, the parents, grandparents and bridal party are important too but at the end of the BIG day, if a bridesmaid or groomsman doesn't show up, it's not a make or break thing. Not having the bride, the groom, or the officiant is! Yes, I know it is the responsibility of the bride and groom to make sure the people who need to be present come to the rehearsal but if my job was to coordinate the wedding, making sure the officiant, the bride and the groom were there would be number one on my checklist. To top it off, we almost got pelted by golfballs three times during the rehearsal (and the golfers didn't even yell, "FORE"!! What's up with that? I thought that was golfing etiquette or something.) The coordinator's response was to not worry because that part of the golf course was going to be closed during the wedding. Why were golfers allowed there during the rehearsal? What would have happened if one of those golfballs knocked someone unconscious? Chalk it up to par for the course?? The actual ceremony wasn't much better. The parents, the groom, and at least two bridesmaids and groomsman had already walked down the aisle before the coordinator said something about the officiant not being there. Since the first couple of people were already standing in position, the rest of the party had to follow. Thankfully, the coordinator did tell the groom rather quickly that he wasn't being stood up and that the officiant hadn't shown up. While I feel there is no reason why it should have gotten to this point, I will say when sh*t hit the fan and the coordinator had to tell the guests we didn't have an officiant, she became rather bold and insistent. She asked if anyone was certified to officiate a wedding and when someone said yes but was hesitant to agree to officiate the wedding, she took charge and strongly encouraged him. Overall, the tables she put together and the vendors I'm sure she had to manage turned out beautifully but the most important aspect fell by the wayside. Unfortunately, I feel like this situation could have been completely avoided if the coordinator was more organized and had things under control. read more

This review is strictly for a wedding reception I attended this past weekend. Northgate Country Club is absolutely beautiful. Maybe it's the fact that I had no idea a place like this existed in Houston or the fact that we arrived during sunset. Either way, Northgate country club will make any event, extravagant. The golf course is where the wedding party went to take pictures and I absolutely loved the aesthetics and how well-kept the green is. We then walked into the clubhouse (I think), and this is where the wedding reception was held. It's a two story building and is just the perfect size for a reception. (It's not so big where it makes it look like you invited no one, rather, it's just the right size for about 200 people). There were horderves served downstairs (mini spring rolls and portobello mushrooms on bruschetta) along with cocktails of wine, and anything except shots, made to order. Upstairs was beautifully decorated with candles, flowers and a decent sized dance floor. (the smaller the dance floor, the more it'll look like a lot of people are dancing) haha. I'm not sure if Northgate country club used their own servers to service this wedding reception but either way, the service was incredibly good. Everyone absolutely enjoyed the open bar, and the attendants were attentive to our every need. The food was delicious (we had chicken marsala with au gratin potatoes, asparagus, and rolls). I'd highly recommend this place as a wedding reception venue as I had a fabulous time this weekend at this little gem. They even packed to-go boxes of food for the bride and groom after the reception was over knowing that the happy couple probably had no time to enjoy their own dinner! :) Now it's time to keep this place in mind when I start wedding reception "hunting" in the future. =X Thanks for a wonderful weekend and for making my best friend's wedding day a success. read more

I highly recommend Northgate Country Club special events for your wedding!! My husband and I got married there this April 5th, and it was a great experience! We researched numerous venues around Houston to find an affordable venue with a beautiful setting, great food, and accommodating event staff. We found that at NGCC. We know 3 other couples that had wedding/receptions at NGCC over the years, and they recommended it to us because they all had great experiences too. I can't say enough about Misty, the special events coordinator. She was extremely professional, friendly, and thorough in the venue preparation. She has been in special events/weddings for many years and it shows. We planned our wedding without a wedding planner, so I really appreciated that she was so on top of the venue details. She even coordinates directly with vendors about their arrival time and information. That took some weight off my shoulders. She was onsite on the wedding day to setup, troubleshoot and make sure vendors were arriving. That was such a big asset. (FYI- Hiring a day of coordinator elsewhere costs about ~$1,000.) We had a bridal attendant who tended to the girls as we got ready, and one who was assigned to my husband and me at the reception. She was amazing! She brought us water, cocktails, and appetizers immediately after the ceremony/wedding photos, since we were missing some of the cocktail hour. She kept up with us during the reception, without being intrusive. All of our guests had a blast and raved about how fun and beautiful our wedding was! Overall, we felt like Misty and NGCC really had it together and it was one of the best decisions of our wedding planning process. Perks of NGCC: beautiful site, accommodating/professional staff, thorough venue planning, reasonable price, great food/appetizers, wedding vendor coordination for arrivals/deliveries, bridal attendant, bridal suite for getting ready, complimentary valet parking for guests, access to facility for bridal portrait session. read more

BEWARE!!!! NGFCC is a DISASTEROUS venue for a wedding! Their "event planner" is totally incompetent and useless. Our wedding would have been a complete flop if we had not had our own private wedding planner. The entire staff was unprofessional and incompetent, from the venue not being open on time the morning of our wedding, breakfast not being served to the wedding party on time(they could not even manage to provide water for the bride), food was not refreshed on a timely manner and guests thought we had run out of food, the bartender was not always behind the bar, the cake was not plated correctly; and this is to only mention a few things. Shockingly, the staff continually sought members of the wedding party out throughout the day and made "backstabbing" comments about each other to us. Informing the general manager of concerns is simply not an option, as we discovered. His response was to deny most of what WE ourselves witnessed and experienced. STAY AWAY from this venue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are far too many reputable venues available to risk one of the most important days of your life at this one. read more
