My portion of Swanson golf was to take someone who had ordered a club who is a fairly good golfer and have that club retrieved. Just as the owner promised the club was ready and in perfect shape and the person who ordered it was phenomenally happy. While we were waiting for the final fitting, however I had breakfast as did the person I brought along with me and the breakfast was really, really wonderful and very much unexpected. Not because I would purposely order bad food, but I wouldn't expect that in a facility that is a golf club fitting facility that the food would be so good but it truly was. Plus in the best of my recollection. I had a couple bloody Mary mixed drinks, which were exceptional as was the table service. I've heard amazing things about the people who have gone to be fitted with clubs from this facility and I will likely do so myself as I replace my clubs, but for the short term consider this an evaluation of their food, which was an omelette as I recollect, and it was exceptional as was the service as was, the facility as a whole. read more

The best place in my Willowbrook, Champion Forest, Cypress area. Seriously..if u want to practice your swing or blow off steam. This place has excellent instructors, a whiskey & draft beer bar on back with the range. Up front a bar, volley ball courts(sand), soccer field and grill w/seating (cool & comfortable). Club fitting review only... I went to SGC on 12/18 for my first club fitting and left very satisfied. I got there around 30 minutes early, checked in, was given a basket to go hit some balls on the range to warm up. Unfortunately, where I hit (not the premium area) didn't have much grass, already had a ton of hits in the area, and was mostly mud. Once warmed up, went back inside to start the fitting. I got fitted by Daryl Parrott, who I believe does all of them. He started by looking at my current clubs in my bag, then asked me to start hitting shots with my 7 iron. The hitting bay has walls to the sides and behind you with the front having an open garage door so that you can hit out onto the actual range and see your ball flight/direction. Don't worry about hitting every ball perfect. It's a non-issue. You'll even see a few holes in the walls from where someone shanked and didnt get it out of the bay. After hitting about 10 balls with my 7 iron we had some numbers to discuss. Daryl started explaining the relationship between club speed, ball speed, smash factor, etc.. He took his time and made sure I understood what we were looking for. He was very easy to understand and was really good about answering questions. He had a "No question is a dumb question" type approach. From there we started hitting other clubs. I went in with an open mind and told him I wasn't going to say what brands I preferred or thought might be good, and ultimately left it to the performance and machine analysis. After hitting multiple different club heads (cavity backs, blades, etc..) we moved on to the shafts. Daryl's process only changes 1 item a time. Meaning we transitioned from clubheads, to shafts/lies. He never changed the club head, shaft, and lie all at the same time. I would hit about 5-10 balls with each different combination and could see the results and all the different groupings on the screen. I got to a point during the fitting where I was hitting too many balls too fast, so I asked to take a short break. Daryl had no problem with this, went and grabbed me a bottle of water, then we chatted for a few minutes before getting back after it. I then hit my current hybrids, then hit some other hybrids, and continued the process. I also hit my driver, which I had recently purchased, and luckily my numbers supported the club and I didn't need to make changes there. After figuring out what clubs I hit/liked the best, Daryl started looking online at the prices and I even heard him say "Awesome, they don't have an upcharge for these shafts." He never put a sales pitch on me to buy any clubs, and definitely didn't feel like he was trying to push me to a more expensive club/feature. The fitting cost $150, however if you buy clubs from them then price drops to $50 for the fitting. They also price match the big box retailers. They e-mail you your specifications right then and there. I ended up purchasing irons and hybrids from them right after the fitting. The next day I started looking at the reviews for the clubs I bought, and noticed that Golfsmith.com had them for $100 less then what I paid. I sent an e-mail to Daryl asking him to price match, to which he responded very promptly that they would. He was actually about to call me because when he placed the order through the manufacturer he noticed he charged me for Graphite instead of Steel shafts, and noticed the discrepancy. He said he should be able to refund my CC without me being there, but if not he'd follow up with me. Ultimately, I would recommend to anyone looking to get fitted to go see Daryl. He made the process easy, comfortable, and enjoyable. I ended up needing heavier shafts, and the clubs bent 2 degrees flat. I was easily hitting the ball an additional 14-20 yards further. read more

I started coming here regularly early this year because of the variety of facilities. Driving range and short game practice area which includes two sand bunkers. They also have one of the top instructional and club fitting and game improvement facilities in the area with 3 or 4 evaluation and fitting bays. Not sure if the instructors are employed there or if they work freelance. The driving range is split about 20/60/20 with about 7 or 8 stations for premium members who pay monthly and get the best grass and premium balls. Next is the regular Joe area, 12 or 15 stations, where the grass is sometimes sparse and never really lush. I think they should move the lines more often, but I'm not in charge of growing grass! Farthest down are stations reserved for "Lessons Only", about 6 or 8 stations. The putting green is really very good. One can expect to find a nice surface and a variety of slopes and distances and plenty of room for 4 or 5 people at once. Bring the fam! The chipping area is the best I have encountered in the Houston area. Lots of room and a variety of slopes and grass is excellent for practicing tight lies, thicker stuff, hitting out of thick rough/weeds, sand traps, undulating greens (not for putting, tho, nor intended to be) and hitting shots from edge of green out to about 40 yards. I can spend hours there. Probably need to spend more! Pricing is a little on the expensive side IMO with a large bucket going for $12. They offer "all day practice" for $20 which includes all the range balls you can hit plus a tube of about 23 premium balls for use on the short game practice areas. I lasted 3 hours once in the midday heat. Love doing that! There is also a very good restaurant and bar, Swanny's, and a fishing pond. All the food I have eaten there has been delicious and they have a few craft beers on tap in addition to other beverages. They have live music about 6 nights per week. Lunch and dinner crowds can get big-plenty of locals come here to hang out. The patio style seating is very comfortable with an east exposure and plenty of fans. Diners have a view of the pond and short game practice area. They have recently opened an indoor seating area but I have not tried it yet. The restrooms are located there. Overall, I recommend this facility for intense game improvement sessions. Its all here, including the beer taps and great place to cool off afterward. Minus one star for inconsistent grass on the range. read more

I didn't have my clubs and had to use their "bucket" clubs, which is cool, but man, some of them are just plain nasty. This place would be awesome if I lived closer to it. The range is big and beautiful. It is real grass and not turf. They have lights and are open late. They have a separate chipping and putting green area that is larger than most other places, which costs a little more. There is also a full bar/restaurant and the burger was really good. The bun was sweet like the Hawaiian rolls. Everyone there is friendly. read more

After playing golf for close to a year - and with a tournament in just a few days - I finally decided to take the step to get fitted. I called Swanson Golf Center yesterday, and am just now leaving a very informative, beneficial club fitting. Daryl was extremely knowledgeable and quickly honed in on the appropriate clubs for me. In what felt more like a private lesson, Daryl walked me through a few drills and gave me some tips, mid-session, which instantly improved my striking and ball flight. Extremely excited for my new clubs to arrive, which he is working to have to me in two days. Looking forward to further sessions here. Bottom line: If you need club fitting or lessons at a great price, you can't beat this place. I'll certainly be returning. read more

A great place for families or adults that want another outdoor food/drink option that welcomes behaved four legged family too. Live music, lots of outdoor activities for children while parents cocktail / eat / socialize. Not a 'serious golfer' driving range or putting green, but a relaxed atmosphere and you are able to hit off GRASS instead of a practice mats! This a plus for me - Northgate CC doesn't even have a grass driving range!! Pick a spot, grab a cold drink and bucket of balls and hit away. Food is a step above traditional bar food, but a true gem for families wanting to enjoy a fun evening out with the family. My 9 year old nephew loved Swanny's!! read more

Golf practice area is closed as of february 2019. It seems the focus is his school at Cypress Lakes GC rather than this practice facility.

Solid place, especially the bar& grill... Great for the kids and great for the adults! Best kept secret! They have a sand box, swing set, and fishing pond for the kids! What a great place to go a hot some golf balls. Nice guys working inside. Large bucket (about 110 balls) for $12. 20$ gets you unlimited. Went after a really cold spell and even though a little muddy, grass looks a lot better then many places I've been to this winter. Easily marked distances and everything seems well taken care of. There putting green was 10x better then any place I've been this year. While not bright green, looks like they have taken care of and minimal weeds in it. Staff is excellent. But for $30 dollars I expected way more. After hitting all the balls, I didn't find one ProV1 in my shag bag. The best I had was a NXT pro. None in pristine condition. The range is alright, the tee box is really just okay. I definitely would not recommend driving all the way from Houston to hit here. I just moved to the area, found this place by a simple google search and thought I'd check it out. This place is much more than just a driving range, I was impressed with the amount of people hanging out in the bar area. I was also impressed with the completely separate short game area. $12 for a large bucket of balls is a pretty decent deal. I will definitely be coming back. read more
