Tgis is absolutely the best school on the North Shore! The atmosphere is loving and kind. There is no bullying allowed, and your child will feel completely safe. I'm so glad we decided to choose it. I have never really worried about my kids academically. I just want them to have a loving place to go and experience life outside of our home. We had a poor experience at another school and were very pleased to find this school. The staff is very carefully chosen, and I believe everyone is over qualified. read more

This school suspended 22 students recently ranging from prek-4 up to Sophomores in High School because the parents of these children wanted answers to questions about embezzled money. In September of 2024 the parent population was informed of embezzlement but at the same time told no information. Anytime questions were asked the parents were encouraged to meet with the head of school one-on-one where they were then told that he could not share information because he'd signed an NDA. After receiving an average 6% tuition increase for 6 years in a row parents got together and requested a small group meeting with the head of school and the entire board. After a week and a half of back and forth the meeting was denied and innocent children were suspended indefinitely pending the parents meeting one-on-one (in other words, exactly the ineffective thing that has not worked in the past). Do not send your children to a school that uses innocent children as pawns in a power play and do not pay $14,000+ annual tuition to a school that is not stewarding its resources properly. read more

This school is THE WORST. The teachers have no idea what they are doing and the only thing they are good at is looking at the lesson plan and copying. The school is corrupt and the students are rude. Teachers pick favorites and students are racist along with some of the staff. The school is dirty and instead of taking money to rebuild bathrooms and important things they spend it on a new football field every year. They only focus on their reputation and popularity and don't really care about true education or Christianity. They force students to act happy and make them do things they have a right to say no to. Please do not send your child here for the sake of their mental health and so they do not become corrupt. read more

I am a student here and I absolutely love going to school here it really is a great school and it feels like a big family

I would first like to begin by saying that I graduated as valedictorian from one of the years at this school, so I have quite a bit of experience here. I also attended this school all throughout high school, so there is another reason as to why I would know what I am talking about. Although I had an easy time attending this school, I witnessed MANY other students who were not within the same circumstances. This school is VERY corrupt. Please do not send your child here; the administration is horrible. They absolutely LOVE to play favorites for "whoever pays the most" and whoever makes the best grades, so if your child doesn't fall under either of those categories you're shit out of luck. If you aren't one of the families with a child who achieves high grades or you aren't paying extra to the school, then your child will be a target. Of course, good grades should always be the goal, but when you are targeted by the administration of your own school it can lead to serious stress (which will literally cause your grades to go down even more). Example: I witnessed many students who had trouble in the classroom have this happen to them. Instead of teachers trying to help them, they would just send them up to the office when one minor inconvenience occurs (I'm not just talking about students who were disrespectful. It was ANYONE who did not achieve the grades of Northlake's standards). Also, as if that wasn't enough, these same students would be "randomly drug-tested" about 4-5 times a year. Even if these students were not doing any drugs, it is still stressful to know that your school does not trust you and is out to get you. Finally, the academics here aren't even that great. You would be better off sending your child to public school. The only good this about this school is ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and nothing else. My children have attended Northlake Christian School for eight years now, 2009-2015. Both have grown so much in their relationship to Christ, in confidence and character because of the wonderful staff. My daughter is a senior this year, and she has several teachers who spend their free time talking, listening, encouraging and counseling her. They just go way above and beyond! My son has become an accomplished public speaker and performer through the elementary English classes, speech meets and drama productions. My daughter is a writer who has been thriving in creative writing, advanced English classes and the introductory education classes. Both my children are hard working, responsible, honest and clean. They love God and are generous. I credit so much of this to the Christ-like examples that their teachers and administrators have been to them. I have been particularly impressed with the way that difficult tasks, like writing research papers are broken down and repeated year after year. Every year the kids take on more responsibility for the total paper until they really know how to do it for themselves. I consider this essential for success in college later. There is also great support for struggling students. Neither of my students are great mathematicians. My son regularly takes advantage of free tutoring after school and both have always felt welcome to go see their teachers for help whenever they have needed it. read more

I am very surprised the rating is low for this school then I looked at the dates and that may have something to do with it. I'm not sure. I have 2 girls here, 9th and 7th grade, and they absolutely love it. Older daughter transferred from public school in the middle of 7th grade and I started my younger daughter here instead of sending her onto the public Jr High. They comment on how friendly and kind everyone is and how different the environment is in a positive way. There is a new Head Master that started last year and he has made FANTASTIC changes and improvements in many areas. There are still opportunities to grow and we are excited about the vision he leads with. More than anything, we love that biblical teaching is infused in all subjects throughout the day and God is definitely felt on this campus. I can only speak for our family and it may not be a fit for everyone, but it certainly should be a consideration for any family on the Northshore that wants their kids to have a Christian-based education. read more

This school is the worst on the Northshore. They play favorites and do not judge children equally or fairly. They are very mean spirited and do not care about the outcome of the child. They do not follow their own guidelines and kick some children out because they don't like them and keep others although they have serious offenses but play sports or their parents donate things and/or money. Parents who have money and give the disciplinarian or principal things get to stay while others are removed. How they call themselves a Christian School is beyond me. read more

Christian environment where my children are loved and cared for by the teachers and staff as if they were their own. The friends my children and I have made are more like family to us. The school takes infants to seniors in high school so it's a great place children can grow up and convieient for families where both parents work. Highly recommend! read more

Let me first start by saying if ZERO stars where an option- that is what I would give this school. I would not recommend sending your child to this school, I am still in shock with the way the staff handles themselves. I have never seen school staff feel the need to gossip about children and treat kids so unfair. If a family donates financially or with gifts to the school their child is allowed to have many offenses with minimal punishment. But if you are a regular family paying your tuition and do not play into the political games be prepared for unjust punishment. I have stories for days of the terrible things I have witnessed this school put children through. Dear Robert, Agresta, and Fontenot I hope you take a hard look in the mirror and realize you are purposely attempting to destroy the self esteem of young kids, all three of you should genuinely be ashamed of yourself and in no way should consider yourself Christians. I hope you all read this and maybe find it in your heart to STOP treating people this way and learn to treat people with respect. Yes you are managing children, but children should be treated with respect. I would never give your school another penny and I hope this review helps to save future parents and children from having to deal with the heartache and disarray you have tried to cause our family, yes you read correctly you tried but did not succeed. I attended NCS from grade 7-9. What to say about the education? Well, there was none. At one point, another student and I ended up teaching our 8th grade geometry class because the teacher was so uneducated even reading from the text didn't make her comprehensible. Our Bible teacher DENOUNCED interracial marriage and adoption. Oh, and I got spit on. It's a very "you're in or you're out" environment, which I wasn't expecting having come from an ACTUAL Christian elementary school, and was very religious at the time. The chapel speakers were deranged, to put it mildly. One claimed something about Damien being the devil's name and I sure hoped nobody in there was named Damon/Damien/etc. Horrible, horrible school. It probably was the biggest influence in my lack of faith as an adult. Horrible teachers. Nonexistent education. Unbalanced chapel speakers. I transferred to FHS in 10th and not only got a very good education (in gifted programs); I was able to get involved and it was significantly less "cliquish." I would send my child to ANY school on the Northshore before this one. (To be fair, there were 3 good classes in the time I was there - Ms. Martin's English Class, Ms. Barker's geography class, and I wish I could remember her name's science/astronomy class. But..... at FHS, I only had 3 BAD classes. So, no comparison). read more

I would like to start off by saying that I am thoroughly disappointed with the other reviews that Northlake Christian has received on this page. As a recent graduate from NCS, I could not disagree more with what these other reviews entail. It is my initial inclination to point out every detail I disagree with and why, but that would consume an excessive amount of my time. Upon transferring to NCS, I was at the age where everything in life seems to be clouded by uncertainty. You are not sure where/how exactly you "fit in," or if this new school is "meant" for you. Naturally I did not enjoy switching schools after enjoying my time in Public School, but I do not think I could have been welcomed into NCS any better than I was. I specifically remember meetings with teachers and administration in my early months, as they wanted to ensure I was enjoying the transition. While in Public School I was also subject to much punishment, which I admittedly deserved. However, the school I attended would simply continue dishing out punishment, not being concerned with its results. Of course my actions and attitude did not miraculously change once I attended NCS, but the actions of the administration were able to have a substantial influence in my life. At the time I did not realize how much of an influence this was, as I spent more time talking about how unfair my punishment and how I wanted to leave NCS. Looking back on it, the administration was able to an individual approach when dealing with me, and I know the same was done for my friends at the time. I did not come from a wealthy family that donated to the school, I know for a fact that my single mother did not decide to "play politics," when she had more important issues to deal with. Things I did at the time most likely warranted expulsion from the school, and some people looking from the outside probably believed I should have been dismissed as well. If it was not for the caring attitude of the staff at NCS I probably would have received just punishment. However, they saw the potential person that was within and gave me an opportunity to grow that potential into who I am today. The staff at NCS from the Head Master, Principal, down to daycare workers and cleaning crew, exhibit an attitude that I rarely see rivaled. Naturally there will be people that disagree with me, but I give this school my full support. I obviously do not know how things were handled back in the 80s, but I know now that the staff is held to a higher standard than their students, as it should be. There have excellent teachers that come through, that are not brought back due to a difference in principles with the school upholds, and I would not have it any other way. The accredited teachers arrive to school everyday with the intention of teaching to the best of their ability, and with the intention to display the image of Christ to the best of their ability. I have much more I positive things I could continue to say about the school, but I will finally bring it to a close. I now attend a college that I previously would not have even applied to, that is now possible because of scholarships that I would not have received without the teaching of NCS teachers. I am the man I today because of this school, and I will never forget it. All I have accomplished now, as well as all I will accomplish in the future, has been made possible by the foundations provided by the faculty and staff of Northlake Christian School. read more

Our elementary schooler has attended NCS since pre-school. We find the academics to be strong, the teachers qualified, and the class size relatively small. The high school offers a strong college prep curriculum and their students have the college board test scores attesting to that. However, the strength of the school, from my perspective, is its sense of community. The staff really loves on your child. The emphasis here is on "Christian", therefore it certainly wouldn't be for everyone. Modern cultural norms of moral relativism and political correctness are not promoted. "Religion" is not taught, rather the Bible is. Even after 2,000 years Jesus remains most controversial, so of course a school who stands up for Him and espouses His teaching will have its share of critics. It's not a perfect school, how could it be, as there are no perfect people. There has been only one - and He allowed Himself to be mocked, ridiculed, and crucified because no greater love had anyone but Him. I want a school that reinforces what I teach my child at home; NCS does that. read more
