this school is an absolute hell whole, almost no problem with any of the students, some are quite…read morestuck up but, the worst part about this school, is the PRINCIPAL. this woman is so ignorant, rude, and selfish, she doesnt even treat you like a real person. she is so stuck up and self centered, she is so judgy and closed minded. i went to this schooo from 4th grade through 6th grade, and the whole time i was there, she made my life a living hell. i promise you, every single student at that school feels the exact same way. the diocese need to do something about her, because she is so bad on the students mental health, and that handbook, has got to have been made in the 1800's. please do not send your children here unless you want to ruin their mental health.

I have been a Catholic my whole life. I went to catholic school my daughter went to catholic school (and being a single parent, the struggle was real!), and my son attended catholic school. We moved to the Hammond area a couple of years ago and he went from being in one school with his group of friends to a new school, Mater Dolorosa. It started out okay, Mr. Fields helped. Tried to guide him like a principle should do. Called me so I could get on him when needed, which I had absolutely no problem doing. Then second grade came, and Ms. Cappadona stepped in as principle and I cannot tell you how strongly I feel about this woman. She destroyed my son's self-confidence, singled him out, even when as far as to yell at me "you're not doing anything". After I was doing all, I could help my child improve his behavior. We are talking about a 7-year-old here. He was not smoking in the bathroom or anything, not steeling. Being a class clown and rowdy, yes. She told me if I don't keep my mouth shut, they school could chose to end his enrollment there. In my opinion the woman in not educated enough in leadership and management to be running anything. She desperately needs classed herself to improve how she handles children and they way she talks to grown adults is despicable. I was going to let this go, but I was getting my hair done in Hammond and they talk of the beauty shop all the way in Hammond is this woman ruining Mater Dolorosa. According to multiple people I have heard She has had not renewed contracts of licensed teachers and has her friends working there with no license! She has her husband driving around taking pictures of teacher around the school and screaming at retired teacher to get off the property and they are no longer welcomed there. She is a BIG old bully throwing her weight around bullying elderly teacher who came back to teach because they love children. She bullied my 7-year-old son with a disability. I went to the archdiocese, and nothing has been done. She is only getting worse. I am about to consult an attorney because she must be stopped. I pulled my son from the terrible placed she has turned this school in to. The teacher he had who just me him worked with him and showed more compassion the FIRST day then MS Cappadona showed in the almost 2 years he was there. He had to start going to more therapy sessions because of the issues he had because he felt like crap for being picked on while he was there by adults! Is he active sure but he is not a BAD a kid and should not have been made to feel that way! Everything my son did was wrong. A kid in his class was threating to kill him and me, nothing was done, my son said pee and I got told something about it. That was the last straw for me to pull him out of there. His teacher just got the job when the year started... she did not want to be there. She wrote behavior reports for him to sign, four she said. He never gave them too me, so I never knew about them to address the issue. Did my son get in trouble for not giving me the note, yes, he sure did! When I asked the teacher why she did not do anything when she did not get the signed copy back. I was told by "the principle" she does not make phone calls... How was I supposed to know the problem was happening. I thought he was doing good. I was not hearing about any problems accept 1 email. Then at the end of the 9 weeks I get shocked with an F in conduct... I had no clue there was a problem. Then to have Ms Cappadona yell at me I'm not doing anything! If they don't tell me something's going on, how would I know there is a problem?? My son is not going to tell me, he did not what to get in trouble, which he did, but HE IS 7!! Him and his BFF (girlfriend. LOL) were kicking her water bottle. She was doing it and he was doing it back and forth. My son got in trouble, girlfriend, no. His self-esteem was so shot he would cry on the playground and wonder why he was the only one getting in trouble when the other kids were doing the same thing he was and he was punished on the side. There are many more encounters like this. Enrollment is dropping at this school and the Archdiocese did nothing when I told them everything she has done. The ONE time I ask for the catholic church, crying, to please help me, help my son, I was begging for them to do something. Nothing was done, all the preaching on Sunday seems to be talk not action in my eyes anymore. I have lost faith in the catholic church after this

Trafton should be referred to as a family-owned business, it seems that entire families work there…read morein some capacity. Many of the staff members are related, so it would appear that the only criteria to work there is a bloodline. I can say without hesitation that the PRE K-3 lead teacher is absolutely horrible. She tells the parent of other students about the negative behaviors of students that are not their children (by name). She has actually texted photos of other children to people that are not their parents. There is a law that prohibits that, maybe Trafton is above the law or too backward to recognize they are breaking the law. From my observations this school is nothing more than a way to maintain a primarily white campus and employee those who could not teach elsewhere.
