I was surprised that the indoor mall area has been refurbished, very clean, but not too many stores that attract my attention. The food court only had half of their vendors open on a Sunday. Normally the ladies and younger workers are smiling and always speak and tell you about the size of the place and how awesome it is. I walked in today and noticed several workers chatting behind the desk. I grabbed a shopping cart as I normally do because there is a boat load of good stuff and I always leave having spent a ton on great items. There's literally 3 floors and massive sq footage of everything under the sun. I spend hours here because I'm a true thrifty and I check out every station/booth, around 200 spaces I think. I'm very observant and always aware of my surroundings. I noticed the 1st man come from behind the desk as soon as I walked to the first booth. I've seen him there before. He wears a crossbody purse and glasses. I continue my normal walk and scan. I see him out the corner of my eye look me up and down. He walked into a few of the same booths as I and walked off. I rounded the corner and there he was pretending to filter through some sports cards. I kept browsing and scanning and noticed his stares. I walked up to the second floor to confirm if I was being paranoid and sure thing, he followed. I made eye contact a few times thinking ok,I'll give him benefit of doubt, other people were shopping and I kept minding my business. A 2nd guy starts to follow me, I've seen him before as well, he has a hunch back of ND walk, he looks like a teenager, obvious and sloppy. I purposely went into a few women clothing and jewelry and furniture booths and he followed, making eye contact and pretending to shop, all the while looking at me every few seconds. I walked in his direction and at this point I've decided I'm leaving. I pull out my phone to record for my safety and call my bestie to let her know what's going on. As I'm recording he stops in a booth next to me pulls out his phone to text or pretend and I say very loudly how uncomfortable I'm feeling with these mall cops following and profiling me. He heard me, then he picks up a random candle holder he had already passed and walks away. Most of the vendors have personal video cameras in their individual spaces to deter shoplifters. There are also cameras everywhere. Why are they following ME. It was OBVIOUS and because of how they made me feel in that moment, the only poc, being follwed, I left and will never go back. If you are a vendor here, they are making you loose business. I Do Not recommend black and brown people patronize this place. They do not want you here.

Considering the larger stand-alone type malls, Charlotte has a few ... notably South Park, the Charlotte Premium Outlet, Northlake, and this Concord Mills, among others. Concord Mills has to compete for customers (especially with the brick and mortar storefronts losing out so much to Amazon) and they do a pretty nice job ... once again the aquarium helps. They close relatively early ... we think 8 pm, but that is a sign of the times to keep everything safe. Food court was pretty nice also, and had a very nice carousel for the younger crowd. We'd return here for the stores, but probably not for the aquarium, since that is more of a once a year thing. They have something for every occasion and every individual. From fancy chocolates to leather goods, house scents. I purchased several items anyway and she asked me if I wanted a receipt...is there a point besides your own record keeping? lol. I liked it but it was pricey on most items but still fun to look through. Probably won't go back unless it's for an item for myself. I wouldn't want to purchase anything for another person and they not be able to return or exchange if it doesn't work out for them. Just my opinion.
