The items must meet their standards as well as their need. They put out everything that they take and return the items back to you that they decline to accept. Their computer system makes it easy to receive your consignment monies. You just give them your name or consignor number and they pay you immediately in cash. They are very fair.

The clothing closet assists any resident of Cabarrus County with clothing and other necessary items for living FREE OF CHARGE. The clothing closet is open every Thursday for the public to "shop" for the items they need. Due to COVID they are temporarily by appointment only. The signup sheet is available on their Facebook(www.facebook.com/Second-blessing-clothing-closet-645031872565307) page or by calling their number. You are allowed to take items once every three months. Volunteers can help you shop in you need assistance. You will be given a laundry basket to carry your items in and volunteers will bag then upon exiting just like a store. The clothes neatly hung on racks and organized by size. Workers only hang items that are like new or gently worn. The clothing is not worn out, tattered, or badly dated. They have children's clothing, women's, men's, and infant clothing, They have an infant room that is dedicated clothing and supplies for children two and under. They have a shoe room that is well stocked. They have a shelf with a limited amount of food, toothpaste, hygiene items, cosmetics, deodorant, etc. Coats, warm blankets, gloves, and scarves are a priority item for the clothing closet. They also have household items available. They provided helped over 350 families last year. If you have a crisis and can't meet on Thursday you can arrange a meeting outside the signup times. If you would like to donate items you can call their number to arrange a drop-off. The donated items reach those who need it most and are never sold.

The store use to be filled with all pre-owned donated goods. Now more than 1/2 of the stores looks like Target liquidation & other new items. These items are black and never going sale. I have spent thousands of dollars here but rarely buy anything now. If the store is going to pull all " color of the week" sale items why bother having the sale? Mom visiting Charlotte to escape the pending weather in Florida and just so happens to be a bead fanatic. This has always been a past time for her and she had never been to a bead store so I made it my business to find the best in the surrounding area. As an Elite Yelper, I went to my handy dandy Yelp app and up popped The Bead Lady. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place so unsure why their not 5 stars instead of 4.5stars. They literally have everything and anything beads. The store has a very vintage feel, very open and clean, tons of inspiration, varying style, unique pieces, say something pieces, single beads, grab bags full of stuff, antiques and the list goes on & on. The owner and staff was extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. My Mom literally stayed mobile for an hour putting all of these beads and pieces in her little carrier. I have to say this was the best choice and well worth the drive and traffic. Mom gave The Bead Lady 20 stars but sadly Yelp only gives 5 .

There's been a lot of talk about Trosa Thrift store around town lately. I've seen it all over…read moresocial media so a friend and I decided to check it out on a Friday afternoon. Trosa is located on Peters Creek Hwy in the Food Lion strip center at the Clemmonsville exit. It's easy to get to and there's plenty of parking which I love. Right inside the door is their whole furniture section, they have tons of tables, chairs, dressers , etc. they even have a whole section of office specific furniture. The prices are very reasonable. This would be a furniture flippers paradise. Towards the back they have shelves of everything from pillows to whole sets of dishes, sports equipment and the most medical mobility equipment I've ever seen anywhere. I'd say, if you are in need of a walker, a bath seat or portable toilet for someone look here because they probably have it at a fraction of the cost it would be to purchase new or rent. The clothing is grouped all together but they aren't keeping it organized as well as it needs to be. All different sizes were mixed in together and I quickly got frustrated and gave up. Both of us had found an item in the kitchen area we wanted so we headed to check out. The workers were very friendly as well. I'll definitely be checking out Trosa regularly in the future. Trosa supports substance abuse treatment. If you want to donate to them, they offer pick up for larger items or you can bring your items to their donation drop off around the back of the store. Just follow the signs.

That's part of the problem too - all new staff due to firing the old staff during C*vid times...ones who had been there for years & were so sweet. The new manager is a guy who frequently complains openly about people shopping in the store, has literally complained about having to check my cart of stuff because I "got too much" and it'd take a while to scan it all in (I had maybe 6 books, a couple of shoes and some small nicknacks - it wasn't a lot). He's also changed sale hours - day of - closing early because he felt like it. He does not make people feel welcome to shop there - it's like we're bothering him to be in the store. Also, the pricing has gotten really bad - it's frequently at or above retail now, which is so sad since this stuff is always clearly used and *given/donated* to the store, but they grossly overprice it. Case in point: A used coffee grinder for $24.99 when it's new for $18.95 on Amazon or $19.98 at Walmart. The clothes have been really stained, hole-filled, torn and ripped lately. I really hate how bad the store is these days... I went in recently and they were selling a side table that was missing two legs, but still had it priced at $39.99. It just makes me so sad since this used to be my favorite thrift store in the area, and it's awful now.
