After reading the reviews (which are mostly from many years ago), I felt compelled to share our VERY positive experience with this office. Dr Peera has been our twins' doctor since their birth (4 years ago) and our kids adore her. We have referred other friends to her who have had the same wonderful experience as we have had. This is not a huge, busy practice where no one will recognize you; everyone knows our kids' names and are super friendly, patient, and agreeable. The office is easy to access in a mixed-use building with a huge free parking lot. The elevators were intolerably slow, but are being replaced. I have not had the same experiences with billing as previous reviews have mentioned. The same office manager has been there for 4 years and, although there has been some turn-over in office assistants and they're getting used to the Advocate system (which they joined in Dec 2018), I have always found her to be reasonable and willing to explain any charges. There was one time when I noticed that we were charged differently for two walk-in appointments; her answer was that the doctors must have performed different exams and therefore coded the procedures differently. That was true; they were totally different exams for totally different illnesses. The quality of the relationship that our children have with their pediatrician is most important to us; if the administrative part is tolerable, then it's worth the effort. read more

We have been going to Dr. Kim here since our daughter was 2 days old. She's patient, thoughtful, and puts up with my incessant first-time mom questions. I also like how responsive she and the entire team is, always diligently taking down my messages and getting back to me as fast as possible. I've always found the front desk staff patient and kind as well! Bonus: Free parking and right off the highway. It's also recently been folded into the growing umbrella of Advocate Medical Group which makes bill-paying and record-keeping a lot more streamlined. This is a second and last review on this practice. I have been with this practice for over 25 years. I took my first child to them, but now I am in disbelief! They sent a letter home yesterday address to my teenager. She opened it up and she thought it was from one of her new specialists. Needless to say this young lady became very upset and sad at the content. How in the world do this people get it wrong again? Why would you send a letter and address it to an underage patient when they clearly know who I am. They have caused more harm than anything. This really has to and will stop. If you are a new parent or even contemplating on taking your child to this practice, please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. There are thousands of choices. The practice went downhill went the wonderful Dr. Emanuel and fine colleagues left the practice. That was a sign Now what is left is nothing short of the feeling of going to a welfare office and being at the mercy of front desk workers who are too young to understand the meaning of customer service and HIPPA rules. I love this office!! My son has been seeing the doctors here since he was a week old. I was referred by my sister-in-law at the time and I've referred them many times over. While the doctors that we started with have all since retired, the current doctors are just as great. We started with Dr. Emmanuel who made this first-time mom feel so un-stressed. He always said "Anything? You call or page me. No question is stupid when it comes to the health of your child!" I loved him! That said... the day he told me he was retiring I burst into tears. I thought I'd be lost without him. However, the doctors that continued with us and the new ones that came after were/are so great. They will answer any quesiton you have and make sure you don't feel like an idiot. My son is currently with Dr. Peera. She's a very caring doctor that takes an interest in their lives and mental health. She asks about school, grades, feelings, behaviors. As he's gotten older, she treats him very respectfully and directs her questions to him directly. Overall, she is a very kind and caring doctor and we are both very comfortable with her. I've recommended this pediatric office several times and will continue to do so. Is doesn't get much better than this! P.S. They do accept walk-ins, but only during certain times. My children use to go there but they have recently gotten new staff and its very disappointing! They seem to forget that the front desk is what attracts customers and what makes them want to stay. The front staff is very rude and have a bad attitude on the phone and in person. One day while I was standing at the desk one of the front desk ladies was on the phone and making gestures about the person on the phone to her co worker (hey lady I'm in front of you!) if she does that as I stand there I hate to see what she does when I call! About a year ago we made a payment but in cash (which I never do its always c.c or check) and then a month later I get a bill stating I owe money! We disputed that and what a hassle that was., luckily I had my receipt so they had no choice but to adjust account! (wonder where cash went?!?) We tried to make an appointment (mind you we have been there forever) and they would not make one without updating my insurance first. I explained that I would bring it in when I got the card they said no they needed that first. Really?!?! We've been going there for years! Since we've been there for the last 10+ years they have had three plus office managers and rotating front desk staff (very unprofessional) I've decided to no longer stay there. I love the doctors there especially dr. Kim, but the front desk staff makes it impossible to continue there!! There is only one front desk person there but I haven't seen her in a while she was great her name was Patricia. read more

Even though my last review was over two years ago.. and I am still with the practice, (Dr. Kim has been our Doctor and although we have been contempt with her, the Dr's and Billing practices/policies are like night and day) To regurgitate what every other negative review has been saying....things have not gotten any better and I am willing to say they have worsened. Aside from the time below, we once again were getting FINAL Notices on a bill we had already paid. Luckily, I paid it with my HSA credit card and had record of it to contest but had I not and paid cash and not saved receipt, Id be on the hook for this payment because they can't get their bookkeeping correct. To top it off when you confront them about it they still have the nerve to get CONFRONTATIONAL even though its their mistake and instead of humbly accepting the mistake, they try to fight you for it. It is not until I show them the proof that they change their tune.... The practice is poorly run when it comes to their billing practices- with zero accountability for their mistakes. Recently, I had a sick child and wanted to find out what their hours were for walk-ins.. well turns out that on that particular day, its by appointment only.... Because we all know we can "predict" when a child is going to get sick and have total control over that. I ended up having to take my child to a urgent care clinic..... The only reason I do not change..is because based on other reviews, seems like there are other practices that are run the same inefficient/unfair way. So this review is more to serve as a precautionary tale to other parents to always save their receipts because not doing so can literally cost you. read more

I have nothing but praise to say about this group and their entire staff. Everyone is friendly and courteous when we walk in. The place is kept very clean and tidy and presentable. We have been seeing Dr. Kim with our 4 month old and she has been perfect. The checkups are always very thorough. Dr. Kim is very patient and perfect demeanor to ask questions or if any issues pop up. It is a very calm environment, you do not feel rushed or pressured. I visited three times for the same issue and I got charged differently for the same concern. I was told that they applied different procedures. I was like what are you talking about. The issue is the same why would you do that? I tried to talk Office Manager and she was more Money Oriented rather than Patient Oriented. After seeing these 2 bad reviews, I MUST write an wonderful review. I have 2 kids and have been going to the office for 9 years. We primarily go to Dr. Peera, But have also gone to Drs. Kim, Karaman, and Kolezeva. Thye are wonderful, caring doctors who never make parents feel stupid or unimportant. My kids have had their share of illnesses-some serious- and every time these doctors helped them or sent them to specialists before problems get out of hand. My neighbors all go to this practice, and I recommend them without hesistation. They are all wonderful doctors. read more

Advocate Children's Medical Group is new owner and so this practice has new name. However, front office customer service is even worse than before, especially attitude of the manager Their only concern are billable hours for the doctors not long term relationship with the patients. If you come a few minutes late then wrath is upon you. However, when you have to wait for them this is not a problem for them at all. Calling Advocate direct line is without any merit after waiting more than 15 minutes on hold. read more

Stay away from this office. It is managed and run by 12 year olds. Dr. Wanda Karamin not only called in the wrong prescription for my 10 year old daughter, but doubled it. She said (along with the office manager) that this is my fault and will not reimburse for meds costing $586.15 that I never ordered. The office manager stated its my fault I left Walgreens with the wrong the meds. Dr. Karamin admitted to me on the phone that she called in the wrong prescription, yet will not take any financial responsibility. I advice staying away from this pediatrician's office. read more

I have been taking my two kids here for about ten years. I love the doctors (we generally see Dr. Kim but have seen all four) and feel they know my kids pretty well. I never feel rushed or foolish for asking questions. That said, the front desk staff is very disappointing. There are two long term gals there who are very good and professional, but newer staff is unprofessional, rude, and don't seem to understand policies and procedures. The last time I was there I waited at the desk after signing in until everyone was done chatting about their lunch order. I have received conflicting information about required medical forms and the last one I got was not filled out correctly (the school pointed this out). read more

I have such mixed reviews about this place. On the one hand the Dr.s are great. On the other hand the new office manager has instituted so many difficult to work with policies that I cannot give them anything other than 1 star. If you have more than 2 kids I highly recommend finding another office because you cannot make an appointment for all of them at once even for something as simple as a back to school check up. That's right, you have to haul all of your kids there 2 days in a row to get simple check ups done. This combined with their at times incompetent billing person cannot let me give them a good review. If I could have the same doctors in a more reasonably managed office I would gladly give them 5 stars. read more

After reading glowing reviews of this place, I feel I must say something. This place came recommended to me from 2 trusted friends, so I was surprised at how bad my experience was. There were lots of little things, like the passive/aggressive front desk staff, poorly stocked/outdated rooms, and chronic lateness (my kids' first wellness visits took over 3 hours and I once waited 25 minutes when I was the first appointment scheduled...7:45am and nurse didn't even show up until 8:10 to weigh my newborn). However, the reason I ultimately left the practice was their billing. I have three kids, including one newborn, and whenever I would go in for wellness visits, they would find a reason to double bill my insurance company and charge me a co-pay. The first time I took my older kids in for wellness visits they insisted my son had a sinus infection, even though he felt fine and had no fever. So they billed also for a sick visit. My daughter had a ganglion cyst on her hand at the time. I asked one question...if I should see a specialist. The doctor was unsure of what it was so she said I should. Again, they billed my insurance company for a sick visit. When I spoke to the employee who handles their billing and coding she gave me a list of 27 things covered by wellness visits and if you so much as ask a question outside of that (even if the answer is merely "go see a specialist") they double bill your insurance company. I started to feel like I just couldn't ask any questions, which is a problem with a newborn. The final straw was when I stopped asking questions, but the doctor noticed that the baby's belly button didn't heal quite fully. She put something on it to hold it together. Didn't take long - maybe 10 minutes. A couple weeks later, I got a bill in the mail for outpatient surgery, which I had to pay for because it goes under the deductible. I contacted my insurance company, but they said that what they are doing (while maybe unethical) is allowed. Some doctors even bill for outpatient surgery for earwax removal. Since then, I have moved on to another practice. Needless to say, the doctors at my new practice have discussed many things with me from allergies to skin issues, and they have performed earwax removal and I have never been double billed for a wellness visit. I think this office needs to revise their billing practices and only double bill for wellness visits when something difficult presents itself and it is an issue that they themselves are solving (for instance, if they had been able to drain my daughter's cyst that day). And their billing practices should not discourage parents from asking questions...that is not in the best interest of their patients, who happen to include the youngest, most vulnerable little ones. read more

I have been taking my kids here for years now, the doctors are all professional and they really take the time to find out what the problems with my children are. There are times when our visits are lengthy but being the tentative doctors they are I understand that they are giving other patients the same good service my children get. They are very understanding in respect to billing when I had a personal financial setback they worked with me on payment plans and even a discount on one occasion. The girls up front are nice as they talk to me as if they've known me forever, which they kind of do. They have had some set backs as far as billing from reading the other reviews but in the last 3-4 years they have been nothing short of great. I will take my children here till they are adults and I hope my children will bring their children here as well. They do have policies and I can attest that at times they break policy to meet the personal needs or setbacks of their patients. So in all fairness some (bad review) patients seems to have taken advantage of that. regardless My experience has always been great service. Thank you to all the staff read more
