We've seen Dr. Maxouris three times in the two and a half weeks since our son was born. So far, we really, really like her. We appreciate her willingness to squeeze us in first thing in the morning so my Dude can be there as well. She is very warm and friendly yet at the same time, matter-of-fact and we really like that approach to our son's healthcare. I literally cannot say enough when it comes to Dr. Maxouris. To give you a background, I have a major complex when it comes to doctors. I can't stand doctors that won't explain themselves. Conversely, I also can't stand doctors that talk down to you (either because they perceive you as stupid or because they perceive themselves as superior). I don't like doctors that just prescribe drugs and I don't like doctors who isolate problems. It is for all these reasons that I have changed doctors over and over....until I found Dr. Maxouris. Dr. Maxouris goes above and beyond ANY doctor I have ever been to. No matter how large or small the health issue, she treats me with respect. She ALWAYS explains the issue in full in a very tactful way that is empowering to the patient. If she doesn't have the answer to a problem, she will admit that she doesn't have the answer (where as many doctors will just pretend that they know). She will explain what she wants to try and why she wants to try. She understands that everything is connected; if you have a physical aliment, she accesses other factors such as stress, diet, etc. If you need painkillers or some other potentially addictive substance, she is very conscious to give you only what you need. To avoid addiction, she will change the script to a different type of painkiller. Although I'm fairly young, I have seen her several times for a wide range of different problems (in fact, she jokes with me if I manage to stay out of her office for more than a few months). I rarely have to wait more than a few days if I need an appointment. If I need something small that doesn't require an office visit (such as a prescription refill), or if I ask for phone advice on whether I should come in for a visit, she is prompt in returning my call. There was even an instance where we were trying to nail down some breathing issues I was having where she called ME every week to try to resolve the issue. Now THAT was impressive. read more

She prescribes when she needs to but she's not afraid to tell me I can/should fight something off on my own with some actual rest. My mother was a patient of hers until her passing in December of 2010. She absolutely raved about Dr. Maxouris and she fit Mom in when she thought she was having a sinus infection. Well Dr. Maxouris gave her a breathing treatment and ordered a chest x-ray and a blood test and unfortunately Mom had developed leukemia. Dr. Maxouris was on top of it all and contacted Moms oncologist and got her in to Lutheran General Hospital within two hours. Thank you Dr. Maxouris for always giving my Mom peace of mind. When our daughter was born in December 2012, we had no idea who to use as a pediatrician. We looked at some reviews of doctors associated with Swedish Covenant, (which was great for for the whole prenatal and birthing stuff) and kind of picked Dr. Maxouris blindly. We feel exTREMEly lucky to have found her. She is kind and no-nonsense, two things that really helped us as first time parents. As other reviewers have noted, she is great about doing what you need to do, not doing what you dont. When we have had worries she has explained things very thoroughly and given us options. For example, when our daughter had a flat spot on the back of her head, Doctor Maxouris told us she could refer us to a specialist, but that something like 95% of kids grow right out of it once they start moving around more in the crib. Sure enough, we held off and it cleared up. She saved us a lot of money, time and worry, but not in a cavalier way. She is also very pragmatic and judgement free about stuff. She is pro breastfeeding but very good about coaching and support. She was also adamant about vaccines, which was important to us since we were going to be in her waiting room with other kids. As a first time parent you have a zillion fears. Dr. Max is a very reassuring presence to have on your side. I should mention that, like most doctors these days, there are times you will not be able to see her and will have to see another doctor in her practice. We have really liked the other doctor we've seen there, probably once out of 7 times. read more

I love Dr. Maxouris. She really takes the time to listen to me and doesn't make me feel like I am wasting her time (like most other doctors) I have been going here for a while now and if I ever decide to have children I will definitely take them to this office as well. The only negative is that the girls that answer the phones can be a bit snippy but it is always super busy so I am sure they don't want to be spending much time on the phone. Hands down one of the best doctors out there. We've been seeing Dr. Maxouris since my oldest was born (2 years ago). She is such a nice, patient, and understanding doctor. Nowadays doctors always seem so rushed and impersonable. Not her. She will listen patiently and answer even the dumbest questions I have. We have had quite a few scares with my oldest and I love that any time of the day (yes, even at 3am) she is available for consultation. I have never had a problem getting in when I needed to and I love that she has some evening hours which works well for this working mama :-) staff is also so friendly as well. read more

I really appreciate the time that Doctor Maxouris took to identify my particular issues- I did not feel rushed and her treatment for me was effective. She identified the problem and in my situation precribed a med that was a great benefit to me. I was referred to her by several clients and one of her peers at Swedish. She works late for after work patients if you schedule enough in advance. My son has been seeing Dr.Maxouris since the day he was born ! He is almost four years old now. We have dealt with all kinds of things in this time, from routine visits, vaccinations, eye infections, rashes...throughout all this time she has been amazing. Dr. Maxouris gave me hope in the medical system again. I had been going to a Dr. in another hospital group and was not happy AT ALL. I read some reviews and checked to see if my insurance was accepted and made my appt. Great office/nurse staff, especially Terri! Dr. Maxouris is wonderful. I had to change doctors when my insurance changed and basically picked Dr. M because she is close to my house. I can't believe how lucky I got! She is smark, kind, thoughtful, professional, and caring. Very respectful of me as a person and doesn't talk down to me, but instead explains things and includes me in her decision making and suggestions about my health care. Her staff is wonderful and I have never had a problem getting an appointment (although I think as a new patient it can take about 6 weeks to get in for an initial checkup). My husband and I recently moved out of the city and are so very sad to be leaving Dr. Maxouris's care. I have been her patient for 8 years and when I had a daughter last year I begged my husband to use Dr. Maxouris for her care. He really wanted a pediatrician but after meeting Dr. Maxouris he was quick to agree with me. She is sensitive and direct. She is proactive with solutions but not hasty to write a prescription. She returns calls the same day and will see a baby no matter how full her schedule is. Dr. Maxouris is great! Ive been seeing her for the past 12 years! However, the front staff is horrible. They never have a smile on there face. Nor do they great you in a professional manner. Im an office manager at a Drs office and our patients love us because no matter what we are going thru or how we feel we make every patient feel welcomed. I scheduled an appt and once I get there the secretary tells me that the Dr Couldnt see me!!!! I was extremely uspet because i left work early and drove there during rush hour for nothing!! They really need to change staffs because they are going to lose patients this way! Im going to change doctors asap read more

We have been patients of Dr. Maxouris (and Dr. McDermott) for several years. We love them, but the new office staff are awful. Also, the new policy of not being able to see Dr. McDermott while Dr. Maxouris is away is unfriendly, to say the least. dr maxouris is nice, takes her time with you and really seems to be on top of it, but the office staff is HORRIBLE!! the people who answer the phone are rude and snippy, like you are bothering them. i just recently received the referral for bloodwork that i have been calling about weekly for...dated march 2012. we will be leaving the practice because of the rude, disgusting office staff. read more
