This is a good, corner pub. Grabbed a seat outside and decided to get a Moo and Bleu, their steak pie with stilton cheese (with mashed potatoes of course). It was just as delicious as you might expect of that combination. What a pleasant surprise! Tottenham Court Road is one of my least favourite parts of London and most pubs along this busy road are anything but cosy. I had almost given up hope of finding a decent place to meet some friends when I stumbled across the Northumberland Arms (confusingly there is another pub by the same name just a few streets away, so make sure to make absolutely clear which one you're at!). Rather unassuming and grubby looking, you are treated to a small pub with a good selection of beer and wine. The waiter even warned me that the recommended Sauvignon was a bit on the dear side but I gave it a try after all and wasn't disappointed. They are forgiven to have run out of nuts and crisps (at least the sorts that I was after) as they have a full menu of proper food. We snacked of a selection of regular and sweet potato chips but the mains all looked rather tasty too. read more

Standard jo average pub, which is deeply loved by it locals. The best part about this place has to be its late license.. after trooping around central London deeply disapointed that no pubs were open at 12pm on a saturday night, i somehow ended up here, and was happy to find it. They do some Karoke nights, and have a selection of rarer ales. It's nothing to rave about, and I probally wouldn't come here again unless I was in the same situation but I got chatting to some of the locals and made some media contacts, which is always worth a pint or three. read more

Shocked to see the bad G**gle reviews, so here I am. Emerged on a Sunday night ravenous. Walked in and checked out the menu and selected the cheffiest burger in sight. Homemade steak burger with caramelised onions, bacon, mature cheddar, tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise. Came with a side of coleslaw and chunky flat chips in a mug. It came all served on a cheeseboard and it was a massive beaut. Burger was sizeable - about a half pound I reckon. Buns were heavily studded with sesame and toasted on both sides and formed a perfect crunchy outer covering to the deep brown caramelised onions. Their sweetness was a counterpoint to the slab of back bacon under it. The burger was cooked medium rare and had a rosy centre and a crust, and was indeed hand-pattied and not some frozen aberration. Under the cheddar was the usual veg, which I thought was an example of excellent burger construction - too frequently the veg comes on top, which causes the bottom bun to disintegrate too early. I nearly had to dislocate my jaw to stuff it all in, but with some clever manoeuvring I chowed it all down. The ingredients are quality and - save for the few leaves of mayo-greased lettuce that made a run for it from the back of my burger, the bun held up to the challenge and made every bite bliss. The coleslaw was perfect and oniony in every bite, and the chips were just chips. Some burgers are all about the patty, but this was a creation that was more than the sum of its parts. A good solid pub that somehow manages to feel comfy and local in a particularly soulless (for pubs) area of London. A good spot to meet up with people, it is just big enough for a medium sized group of you to start the evening, without being stark and too open plan. The beer is well kept and they serve black sheep ale, (which I have a soft spot for as it is my local brew back up in Yorkshire). read more

Good, solid local, with the full range of J2Os and what looked to be a reasonable menu (both important to me - I don't drink alcohol and I tend to go out for a quiet meal rather than a quiet drink). That said, this time I was out for a drink with a friend - the beer was apparently reasonably good, the atmosphere pleasant and conducive to kicking around for an hour or two. Definitely somewhere to go back to - they're open on a Sunday, which is a rarity round this bit of Fitzrovia - and it was a pleasant enough atmosphere. A great place for an afterwork drink. The downside is though, it gets pretty busy but this never seems to put anyone off around about the area. This place is usually full of media types grabbing a pint after work since the area is dotted with so many production companies. If you want to sit inside, it can be hard to get a seat. The style of the place is really old-school, old man style pub. Standing outside is obviously only recommended on a nice summer's night and actually, it can be pretty cool just sitting on the kerb outside watching the world go by with a glass of wine. I walk past this place everyday on my way to and from work and it has never looked appealing to me so I had never gone in. However, last night as I waited (and waited, and waited!) for friends to meet me I popped in here for a bite to eat and a pint after work and was pleasantly surprised. I completely agree with Aaron B below about the comfy and local feel, which is unusual for this area. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the Guinness was good. I ordered a bacon & avocado sandwich was VERY impressed with it's size and quality. The avacado was freshly cut, perfectly ribe and not at all brown. The bacon was thick and crispy, but not dry. And the seeded bread was incredibly soft and cut thickly. The sandwich came with mustard mayo, which was a little strong but tasty nevertheless and was accompanied by good chips. read more

I *really* liked this pub. The interior was cozy and didn't "try" too hard. We were in on a Friday evening and it wasn't packed intially when we arrived, though it did fill up later. The bartenders were super friendly, which I appreciated. The music playing on the evening we were there was great...though I define 'great' as 90's alternative, which could make other yelpers cringe. There was a great mix of ages inside...young'uns and people up into their 50's, so it wasn't exclusive to any one group which made people watching much more interesting. The location is useful...right by Goodge Street station and right across from a great pizza place and any number of other restaurants. I'll certainly be back! read more

Open til 1am, this is our go to place after The Alexander Flemming shuts down for the night (a little far away but we all skate so no big deal, right?). Normally busy and packed with people, it's a good place to grab a drink or two before finally heading home for the evening. Prices are decent, haven't tried the food and they aren't too fussed about some sweaty skaters turning up and grabbing a few drinks late in the evening. It's also just a short skate home from there to Camden, so anything that's on the way home is already a thumbs up in by books. read more

The usual pub around the corner the guys running it are quiet calm about their super busy atmosphere they attract after office hours. The good thing about this place is you tend to find familiar faces if your a frequent. They serve the usual ales and beers along with some pub snacks. Cool enough a place to enjoy a pint in the outside seating if its not too cold. read more

Tiny seating area with wobbly spinning seats, and little space between tables. Very easy to be observed by whomever is sitting around you. Probably wouldn't recommend this place for tourists, unsavory patrons will probably swipe your bag if your guard is down, as mine was at this place. Keep your stuff in sight if you go here. read more
