I made DH come with me for the first time because I hate doing things for the first time by myself and we both ended up coming out with a book! I also put myself on hold for a book and it came 2 days later. What's great is they have e-mail notifications when things come in and when your books is becoming due. I wish I could upload a recording of how loud and OBNOXIOUS they are so that those of you who see this could understand how insanely loud these Public Library working HAGS are! So again, if you actually need a quiet space to get some legitimate reading or studying done DO NOT COME TO TENAFLY PUBLIC LIBRARY! especially if you are a person of color because I am absolutely positive that if I was Caucasian that the response to me respectfully asking them to lower their voices so that I may study for an exam IN PEACE would have been received very differently. I was able to buy 6 or 7 hard cover children's books for $10. They accept Zelle if you don't have cash! The main library is on the second floor. They have a spacious children's section with some seating. Employees were quick to ask if I needed help. They have a monthly calendar of events with something scheduled just about every day. In order to get a library card, you have to be a resident of the specific town or city where the library is located. So in this case, you have to live in Eastchester to get a card here. However, once you have a library card for a Westchester library, you can use it in any library in the county.

It's a library…read more Can't say how many hours I suffered as a kid in here doing projects. Then again as a teenager looking for books to do projects. Been coming here since the early 1980's and whether I worked at a desk inside or borrowed a book, they always had what I needed - I have to admit that, even though at the time (as a kid) I despised the library. Came here intermittently now and then to look for a book here and there, but did notice this place did give itself a facelift internally more than once over the years. Looks much better in both the adult and the children section than it did when my young(ER) self inhabited here. Been coming here a lot more recently so my son can take books out for his daily reading assignments from school. They have most of what he has been looking for and despite the area being a children's section, it's decently maintained. The kid's area has computers for them to use and even a play area for the toddlers. It's not as quiet as it used to be when I was told to "shhhhhhh" long ago. Times have changed. They have music and dvds (for both child and parent) you can borrow if you choose to - kind of reminds me of the decade ago and beyond movie rental business. Of course the books for both are plentiful. Staff has been friendly and helpful. They do have plenty of parking, but at certain times - especially after the 5pm hour - they have gatherings or classes here and the parking lot becomes massively full. For the parents who like to blame the library for not having a book that the local school assigned to their child - blame the school since they assigned 1 book title for over 30 kids. That's happened before and I usually just save myself the trouble and buy the book. Last year I heard a parent yelling at someone in there for not having the book - not the library's fault if someone else got there first and checked it out. Overall a great library in the area. Certainly worth your time.

The library is a great resource for more than just books. They have story time for children, groups…read morefor crocheting, etc. and offer resources for seniors. I take my granddaughter for story time every Tuesday morning. She is 20 months old and she loves it! The staff aims to please. After enrolling my granddaughter for story time, they called me the night before it was due to start to remind us.

There are some nice folks that are willing to help but there are definitely some unfriendly folks. For example, multiple times, I have wandered into the back section (have not approached the reference desk) and the person at the reference desk has snapped at me "what do you need." It's happened multiple times and at first I thought I was in a restricted section and that was the cause of the unfriendly reception. There are also some front desk people that are not friendly. I will say Miss Anne and Miss Judy(?) as well as some of the ladies in the children section have made this location redeemable. I try to time my visits for when they are there. Otherwise I will go to Dobbs Ferry as that is also a nice library and is a bit more welcoming.
