Lighthouse Credit Union, formerly Northeast Credit Union is a good bank. A few of the recent…read morechanges though in my opinion are not good. When I went to make a deposit in the Bank, there were no deposit slips. I was told they were going "paperless". I am all for helping the environment and reducing paper consumption. However it does not feel secure on ANY level to repeat my personal information, including my membership number or financial transactions verbally to the teller. Additionally, I was also asked if I wanted to pay on my credit card. My visit on this day was not for this purpose. Yet, I can see that I am going to have to decline this in the future as I generally do not pay it in person. I also do not like hearing my account balances when I have not asked. I have also noticed that the Telephone Banking instructions are somewhat out of order and confusing. If someone wants to do telephone banking, that option should be upfront. I guess the abstract sign of a lighthouse goes with the "New" changes which in my opinion are not good.

Through some deal they were offering that month, I got a free checking account when it's supposed to cost $8 per month. At the tender age of 18, not understanding much financially, I was pretty stoked to be saving that money. Just watch out on Friday afternoons, the lobby is TINY and the line often stretches out the door, which can get chilly in the winter when the sun's already gone down. The staff is friendly, though.

I'm sure there was no maintenance done to my account and every time I put money in the account they somehow had my address wrong! They kept reverting to a 4 year old address that I had with a TD checking account, which they closed when I broke my knee and explained to them I was having a rough time and had no money to deposit! They closed it anyway. Each time the tellers gush superfreindly until you actually need something-- they they snap at you and do basically nothing in the way of customer service. You will have a bad experience, all the branches are run the same.
