Called yesterday to make an appointment for my 16 month old son to get his first haircut. I spoke to Rachel and she was able to schedule the cut for today. We went in and were seated in the barber chair immediately. Rachel was very friendly and professional. She was really sweet to my little boy. She did an awesome job with his haircut. The shop was clean and tidy. We will definitely be back once it starts growing out a lot again! I highly recommend this place and this stylist if you need someone to cut your little one's hair. read more

Northwest Barbershop is top notch in my book. It's a clean and comfortable Barbershop and the Barbers there are on top of there game. I've been getting my haircut there for 8 yrs by Rachel and she is by far the best Barber around. New to the area - walked in the door of the shop and had 3 barbers. 2 were working and 1 not. Rachel asked if I needed a cut - but she only does short hair so she said to speak to another barber there. That lady said 'sorry, very busy' - I kept saying ' I just stopped in to set an appointment for later' and she kept telling me how she couldn't get to me for a while. I finally had to say 'listen - I was just trying to set an appt - it could be next week, im just trying to set an appt!' She then just handed me her card and that was it. No trying to help, no trying to set the appointment, nothing. As a salesperson myself, I would take a second and set the stupid appointment - don't just hand me the card. After having visited various different places in Gainesville, I've finally found a place that worked for me. I've gotten my hair cut 3 times by Harrison! Cuts: top notch service and cuts by Harrison; to be honest seems like everyone here is good. He's perform 2 different types of faids done very well, with good edge ups; noted that he's just as good with his scissors as well. Just waiting for my turn, I can see the quality of work he puts outs. Price: great!! 12 bucks I believe, couldn't ask for a better price. for a cut. Hours: probably the only thing I dislike are the hours. They close at 5pm, and by noon on Saturdays. So for someone like me who works 80hrs a week, getting a cut around their open hrs can be tricky. I'm used to more after hour schedules with my prior barbers. Waits: can be a while I have typically waited 30min-45, but the service and cut are top notch I repeat!! read more

This place is awful! 1 hour + wait times every time I had ever went in...even after calling to make an appointment! I gave this shop 3 chances and was disappointed with every visit. Waylon is the worst barber also! No customer service skills and cut my hair faster and crappier after each visit. Guess he thought I was going to be one of his regulars and he didn't have to try anymore. He would also talk about his sex life to me, which was more awkward than anything. And to top it all off, the owner allows one of the employee's kids to sit there and play his acoustic guitar all day. Let me remind you, this is a barbershop with hard floors and nothing to catch sound. So on top of the kid not even being talented, the interior just made the guitar a loud, noisy mess that I had to sit thru for more than an hour. Plus he was wearing a Confederate flag hat, which I found offensive. Overall, this Barbershop is the worst of the worst. I'm surprised this place has any positive reviews at all. read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Waylon for the better part of a year now, and I've never received a bad cut. He's always been friendly and has even stayed WAY past closing to cut my hair. If that's not amazing customer service, I don't know what is. I've also been able to see some of the cuts by the other barbers in the shop and they look great! The only downside to Northwest is that it's a little bit out of the way, but when you find a great barber, you gotta stick with them. Definitely give this place a shot, you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been going to this barber shop since 1996. They used to be located just down the road until they relocated to this new location about a year or two ago. I've had my hair cut by the owner, Rita ever since I started coming when I was still in my 20's. Now that I have kids of my own, my boys gets their hair cut by Rita as well. The prices are reasonable and they do a fantastic job. The patrons are primarily men but of course they also cut women and childrens' hair. This location also has a kids' playroom so your kids can be occupied while you wait or while you get your cut. I can't say enough great things about this business and the people there. read more

My experience here was so poor that I signed up for a yelp account just to post this review. Upon entering the barber shop, no one greeted my fiance and I or said anything for about 15 seconds. Then a man got up from his chair to ask if I wanted a haircut. (I did not get his name. He is a white man in his 30s with short brown hair) He began by asking how long I wanted the hair on the side of my head. I told him how I usually get the sides done, and he spent five or ten minutes on that without saying or asking anything else. He then asked if I wanted the hair on top trimmed as well. I was confused by the stupidity of his question and responded with "uhhh, yeah". After another five or ten minutes, he took my apron off, but he kept my chair turned away from the mirror so that I had to get out of the chair to see my haircut. The haircut was not what I really wanted, but since he never bothered to ask what I really wanted, I decided to just pay and leave. This was the first time in about ten years that I decided not to tip my barber. Afterwards, my fiance let me know that the barber had never even bothered to take his earphones out during my haircut. read more

I went today to go and get a haircut here. The cuts are great and the service is excellent. While there will be time spent waiting to get your haircut done it is well worth the wait for the quality of cut that they do. I went for a hard part and got exactly what I asked for. I saw Harrison specifically for my cut and he was great. With a good price and great service I'd heartily recommend this place to anybody interested in a good cut. read more

So I'm new to the area and was recommended to Northwest Barber shop so I decided to give it a try so I called to see about getting an app with one of the barbers there when I called the guy he was absolutely rude and said they don't do app first come first serve and hung up.... Ok so I just decided to drive there thinking maybe they were busy that's why he hung up on me! So I get there and there was about a 20-30 min wait! which I hate waiting !!!! So finally I get in the chair and I have to say the way he was talking and making me feel was really uncomfortable like he had an attitude with me so he proceeded to cut my hair which is a low fade and it must have been 5 min and he had me back out of the chair he didn't even make sure that I was happy with the cut and the way he was making me feel I didn't even say anything... So I left very unhappy and also with a few long hairs WHICH I hate!So with saying all of this I will not be back!! read more
