I gave the Milwaukee Ave shop three tries right after they opened. On my first visit there was only one barber working, and communication was difficult--his English was very limited--so it was hard to explain that I wanted a conservative, business-style cut. The result was just okay, but the top was cut short enough that it stuck up no matter what product I used. I went back twice more to be fair, but had the same issue each time. On the third visit, two additional barbers were on duty. While I appreciate a light, friendly atmosphere, the joking and roughhousing while I was in the chair felt unprofessional. I also noticed the station wasn't cleaned between clients--hair on the floor and tools not obviously sanitized--which was disappointing. There was a special going on to attract customers, but the barber charged me the full price all 3 times. I'm moving on to a different shop, but I hope management takes this as constructive feedback: clearer communication with clients (photos help), consistent sanitation between cuts, and a more professional tone on the floor would make a big difference. I scheduled an appointment online, which was straightforward. Upon entering the shop, I noticed it had an old-school feel, which I liked. I sat down with what seemed to be a newer barber. Once the service was completed, the owner, Apood, came by to check on me and apply some final touches. According to the menu of services online, I thought the beard trim and lineup were priced at $25, but I was charged $35. However, I found $35 to be a reasonable price for the service. For whatever reason my appointment didn't book. I probably forgot to hit one last thing on the reservation. No worries, they were very polite and accommodating and said they could take me after the two people ahead of me. Not that the wait was bad. They have a PS5 in the waiting area and I played FIFA with some kid who was also waiting for a cut. I held my own, but lost 3-1. He seemed surprised that I knew how to play! Of course, none of this matters if they butcher my hair. But they didn't. In fact, it's the best haircut I've had in years! More importantly, my wife was pleased with it too. Wish there was an option to give 0 stars. They butchered by son's beautiful hair. I showed the barber a reference picture and explained that my son likes his hair long on top and he completely ignored everything and cut his hair short. The worst part is that it's 1 week from homecoming and he will not look anything like he wanted. Very disappointing. read more

Best haircut we've gotten! My little guy is 6- up until now we have utilized the equivalent to kid snips and while his haircuts have been just fine you can really tell a difference when you go to an authentic barber. Not only how the hair lays after the initial cut but the way the hair grows out. Very happy and will be back! read more
