Absolutely great care! All staff very thorough! Each part of the exams were explained, each time. Surgery support staff were considerate and nice! Dr Psolka absolutely great! He introduced himself at the consult visit and explained surgery. Dr Kunline also explained exam results to me. My eyes are so improved after he removed the cataracts from them. The surgeries were done a week apart. My much improved vision is great. I can see colors better, objects, images, and read so much better. Scheduling went very well. Very clean facility! Dr Li answered my questions and explained during my followup appointments. Office staff very nice too. I had cataract surgery in May and from what I can tell it did not go well. Needed to go in every 3 weeks and each time it was something different i.e. dry eye, wrinkle, now a gel pulling on my retina. Am going to go somewhere else for second opinion BUT they will not give me my records. All other medical institutions allow the patients to view their own records but not NW Eye. Without this I do not know the many doctors' names who examined me. Additionally whenever I go for the many appointments they have me waiting and am usually there for close to 2 hours. It did not used to be this way as I have been going there for years for glaucoma. No excessive wait times, same doctor every time. So here I am 3 months later and it is if I never had surgery - my vision has not improved. read more

The cataract surgery went fine, and my wife is happy with the results. The billing was a nightmare. They would not acknowledge the payments made after sending numerous requests with some being registered mail. They sent me to a collection agency instead of responding to my requests. I had to request the assistance of the Washington State Attorney General's Office to straighten this mess out. I did receive a response with an apology from Northwest Eye Surgeons, but it is the worst dealings with medical billings I have ever encountered. I would not recommend them. read more

I like to give the benefit of doubt before posting on social media. There has been No follow up communication from the Sequim office nor cooperate head quarters in Seattle. Not a good experience for me. I left there feeling like I had escaped out of a hungry used car dealership. I felt their primary focus was on my wallet and lacked any sense of situational awareness to their environment. From my vantage point, in the waiting area, I heard boisterous chatter amongst the scheduling and/or office staff. One staff person was loudly discussing another's record unaware as to who might be listening. I was at ear shot of others divulging personal information either checking in or possibly rescheduling. In the "surgical scheduling" area, where I told I would be discussing my availability and financial options, the are of tight quarters was shared with a stranger who could over hear my information as I had the opportunity to hear hers. It appears to me they lack education on HIPAA compliance and a red flag has gone up if Medicare has ever received a complaint. Not feeling comfortable with my new roommate in "surgery scheduling" and already lacking confidence in the staff, I wanted time to follow up, for thoughts and options with my Optometrist and was denied a scheduled appointment unless I could make an immediate commitment to $3000 or $3850/per eye added lense expense. Waiting, could get me "pushed out as far as February or March" High pressure sales with scare tactic? I left with the flavor that commissions and bonuses plays a major role within this conglomerate. Staff herding me around failed to tell me who they are and when questioned, there was a discovery of clothing covering their name tags and it was "assumed I had already read" who they are. Following day, I called to speak with someone of authority. I felt, this women's focus was on defending and deny vs. wanting to hear that there might be a flaw in their system. Offering her an example on how complacency can affect us, I called to her attention voices I could hear, in background, articulating how this delicate conversation showed me there is no privacy. She had no response. I've exercised my choices and have an appointment with another provider. read more

I had to have cataract surgery. If there is going to be an issue, I'm the problem child. The doctors and staff are absolutely incredible. So professional and caring. The treat you like you are the only patient they have. I've always had all my questions answered where I understand. The office is beautiful and organized, plus they go the extra mile for sanitation. I had a very lengthy examination, with several high-powered scopes. Dr. Tara Shakeri, OD determined I needed cataract surgery. On my surgery day, I was prepared for surgery, complete with a black marker "R" above my right eye. The surgeon at Northwest Eye Surgeons (not Dr. Shakeri) looked at my chart, examined my eyes and said there is "no way" that he could perform my surgery, and that I was not even close to meeting the need for cataract surgery. He aplogized, and stated he would be putting his own license at risk if he went ahead with surgery. While I wasn't charged anything for that day, and received numerous apologies for my experience, Northwest Eye Surgeons was not willing to refund me any part of the out of pocket expense for Dr. Shakeri's erroneous diagnosis. Everyone makes mistakes. Dr. Shakeri and Northwest Eye Surgeon's should be willing to accept they shouldn't profit monetarily for theirs. read more

I first saw this clinic for help in 2018 with flashing colored lights in my eyes, possibly an "ocular migraine." No real diagnosis, "nothing can be done" kind of thing. Rude supervisor. Months later a muscle pull in my neck led to an X ray, then cat scan then quickly an MRI and carotid artery blocked totally. Fast surgery, which saved my life. Plus the light flashes are gone, thanks to having more oxygen to my brain. "Pretty basic," said my surgeon. This clinic should have thought of that. Today I have a recurring severe eye irritation and am repeatedly put on hold so the receptionist can check with a "technician." It's like buying a car, the salesman has to talk to the "financial manager" whom I'm not allowed to speak with. Without seeing me, they think I should get different contacts. That's my last contact with them. read more

I feel quite satisfied with the staff and general level of service, with one large exception. I do not want to use a computer to check in. Nor do I want you to keep a copy of my drivers license on file. I know how to use computers, as I ran a computer department for ten years. But I find your new process impersonal and invasive, implemented only to save you time and money. Other medical practices take my picture and keep a copy for checkin, which is acceptable. But keeping a copy of my primary identification document increases my chance of identity theft without any benefit to me. The staff shrug and blame it on "corporate." Other corporate practices strive to enhance their personal service. You should too. read more

Dr Niemeyer is a pleasure to have as the operating surgeon and the other two eye doctors on the team were also excellent. We went here at the recommendation of our regular eye doctor to have my wife's cataracts removed. Everyone of the staff were extremely nice, we were given tons of information about the surgery and even had to watch a couple of short videos. There was zero pressure to purchase more expensive lenses or anything like that. The one "ding" I would say is one of the ladies who sets up the surgeries. She was not helping us, but I listened to her helping a couple of other people. So, here is the issue: she has a very thick accent and, let's face it, most folks needing cataract surgery are elderly. Both elderly patients she dealt with had a very hard time understanding her, and one gentleman gave her some wrong information because he just couldn't understand her! How do I know he gave wrong information? Because she originally asked and he gave an answer, but she didn't hear him so she repeated his answer incorrectly and he said "yes." He was really struggling! So c'mon, man. She was very friendly, but give us old folks a break. Put her somewhere else in the office! I felt bad for the 2 patients who were trying so hard to understand her. read more

My wife and I have each been patients at NWE Clinic-Sequim for over three years. Each of us have had multiple surgeries, and their co-necessary pre- and post- visits. 2. I have Never been late to a NWE appointment. 3. I was ten minutes late today, because of a road accident stoppage incident near the Jamestown village, on my way from my home in Port Townsend. It was over ten minutes long but -- bad on me for not allowing more trip-time to NWE. I would have and could have called NWE but thought it -- and thought NWE would think -- that that was silly; after all, in almost every appointment I've had with NWE, i've waited an average of thirty minutes, minimum, for my appointment. 4. Over the course of an increasingly unpleasant encounter between the stonewalling front desk people and my insistence that their insistence -- that it would be Impossible To Fit You In -- was bogus, the Medical Office Manager, Karen, came out in scrubs and gave up the facade. She said something like, That's just the way it is. 5. After that I left, declaring too loudly that I'd be commenting on social media about this, and that I would notify them where to send my files because I was done with them. While I was on my way home, Sequim Police officer Tony Push called my wife at our home -- from a private cell phone -- and told her that "an unnamed person" from NWE had called them, the Sequim Police Department, and told them I had been yelling, pounding, downright screaming -- bringing the front desk women to tears. Officer Push told me that officers were dispatched, and that a report called "Call For Service" numbered 2017-12398 has been filed. So now I'm on the records at the Sequim Police Department. 6. I have no complaints about any of the patient-medical encounters (many), over my time with NWE. I have noticed condescending and indifferent behavior from the staff people occasionally -- more to other patients, as I sat waiting and observing, than to myself. 7. Now I'm onward to other medias to vent. Bad behavior is bad. Is this insidious Trumpism? read more

It's a busy place but I never felt rushed as they each took time to explain the procedures and made sure my questions were answered. I saw Dr Huh after suffering from eye pain and redness. I left the office with more questions then answers and a referral to see a specialist that was 2 months out. I expressed deep concerns over my quality of life for 2 months with horrible eye pain and difficulty focusing on close objects. She made me feel like a baby for not being able to handle the pain my eye condition was causing and told me nothing could be done except take ibuprofen. I left this appointment feeling desperate and degraded. I made an appointment for a second opinion the next day and was diagnosed with a severe eye disorder that required immediate treatment or you can go blind. The new doctor offered me eye drops to sooth the symptoms, answered my questioned and spent time explaining and determining what was going on. She worked to get me into a specialist immediately and made a follow up appointment for the next week to monitor me closely. I left feeling validated that this was not all in my head and that something would be done to help me. Both doctors were book smart and could diagnose me, but the bed side manner was totally different and that makes all the difference in the world when you are told something is wrong with you and need answers and you are suffering. read more
