Dr. Larsen is retiring, and the replacement is Dr.Ho. first visit with the new doctor, was for a diabetic checkup. everyone knows a diabetic check up includes an examination of feet, as they are a special concern for Diabetic patients. the new doctor made me come in to reissue a Lyrica prescription Dr. Larsen has approved for over 5 years. Incidentally, Lyrica was prescribed because of neuropathy in my feet. He listened to my chest and complained about his previous Employer Novant Health, no standard questions, no foot examination. it was hard to decide to leave this practice after over 20 years, because doctor Larsens assistant, Aja, was equally as competent as Dr. Larsen. Dr. Larson and his team are great! He listens to my concerns and acts on them! The front desk staff are really nice and efficient. I also take my 8yr old here and the phlebotomist done a wonderful job with him! I've never had a problem getting through to the office or having a nurse call me back with my concerns. The medical assistants are sweet AND my prior auths have went through smoothly. Rx have always been submitted in a timely manner. They even mailed me lab results! Not sure what much you could ask for in a doctor's office! I love it here and recommend 10/10. Although much farther away from my work or home than my previous doctor in Charlotte, the extra drive to Northwest Family Physicians is always worth it (if I leave on time and don't get caught behind any school buses on the way). Dr. William Larsen was recommended to me and I'm glad I switched my primary care to him. I receive such great care from Dr. Larsen and I feel comfortable talking to him openly and honestly. Best of all, he doesn't rush in and out of the room. He takes the time to sit and listen to you to understand everything that may be affecting your current symptoms. The staff has always been great, too. Doctor appointments are usually last-minute things for me (because I'm dying or something) and they can always get me in when it's convenient for ME. However, finally decided to make the change due to being left without my blood pressure medication for over a week due to a 15 dollar balance. Something as simple as a phone call could've easily remedied this. Lack of concern once speaking to the office manager made my decision for me. I am truly disappointed in the visit I had. I've been looking for a primary doctor for some time, it took me a lot of courage to even start shopping for doctors because I suffer from anxiety and doctors offices make me nervous. I finally got an appointment with Dr. Norton and neither the reception desk, nurse OR the doctor herself asked me the purpose of my visit. I had a few things I wanted to discuss with the physician and she didn't even give me the opportunity or ask me if I had questions. The only thing I was able to articulate before being interrupted was that I would like to try a new allergy medicine, which Dr. Norton prescribed me and when I went to the pharmacy they told me my insurance didn't even cover the medicine she prescribed. I am incredibly frustrated with my entire day off that I took to go see this doctor and I definitely will not be returning for any reason. read more

I see Dr. Norton as a primary physician. I really like her! I am a 28 y/o healthy female, and each time I go to the office I don't have to wait long, the PAs are really nice as are the front desk girls. They accept my health insurance too. I have never waited longer than 5 minutes to see the Doc. I make appointments via their website, but calling them is great too. I am given plenty of reminder notifications for upcoming appointments as well. The nurse asked verified with my the reason for my visit, (6/16) and Dr Norton asked if there was anything else she could help me with after we had covered the reason for my visit. I had a question that came up then, and her answer was very enlightening. I will continue to see Dr. Norton in Charlotte. I think she is great! read more

I mean Dr. William Larsen's place. Not just so close to my house, the staff are so friendly, considerate and passionate. I rarely visit doctors' office and hard to find a good one in Charlotte, nevertheless, my previous insurance did not refer me to this place but gave me a couple that I had never had a treatment as I got lost in downtown or I could not find the place. Four years ago, my son got a physical for college entrance and we accidentally went to Dr. Larsen's office. Like them. Early this year, I had a serious chest infection, got an appointment quick and had that fixed fast. Then my boyfriend was referred by insurance to other place that he could hardly find. After checking he could go to Dr. Larsen, my boyfriend was so happy with their service. I just got my physical quick appointment with no hassle and check up the following day. Good place. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Larsen for more than 6 years. I can not begin to tell you how happy I am with his practice. I manage a medical practice of my own and belive me I know how difficult it can be to provice quality care and good customer service. The have accomplished it every visit. Wait times are always a possiblity in a medical facility, but they have never been an issue with Dr. Larsen (usually 5-15 minutes). Dr. Larson is extremely personal and professional. I never feel like a number with him or his staff. He has gone out of his way to make sure I've gotten the care I needed, even when I had a lapse in insurance coverage. His office is 20 minutes from my home and 45 minutes from my work. I gladly drive there and will continue to do so. read more

I feel like Northwest Family Physicians do not care about their patients. They only care about making money...classic big pharma. So I went in for routine blood work (all covered by insurance), and while meeting with Dr. Larson, I mentioned that I had lost weight recently. He suggested that I download an app to track my calories. They billed me for that 30 second conversation, and additional charges that insurance didn't cover. I called the doctors office and explained my concern, but they were only interested in making money. To me a doctors office needs to be transparent with their patients, and not to try to take advantage of the system to profit. I will and do not recommend this Dr. Office. I will say that the medical staff there are great, but the billing department doesn't reflect that so be warned. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I went there on 10/18/2019 (after convincing from my wife) to get some help with injuries sustained while in military service. I explained that yes I would need some type of paperwork eventually but I was here today to get the ball rolling to get diagnosed and see what can help. I gave her a list (that is verified in my military medical record) of issues I have. The doctors response was "what am I supposed to do with this?" Umm gee Idk help? I said let's start with my back (I have some pretty messed up disc) and explained to her that its constant pain and goes up to my neck and even told her she could feel the disc in my back. Her response was "well your 300 lbs". I'm not, I'm 270 and was 260 when I was wearing a uniform. She then says "I mean what you, broken?" Yes...that's exactly why I am there. This man has horrible bedside manner. I was a first time patient and he treated me horribly.

Dr. Norton doesn't know her patients IMPORTANT health records and tried to tell me I didn't need regular check ups for something that I definitely need regular check ups on (all other doctors and their own staff agree with this)--she makes getting your prescriptions as hard as possible EVERY month. She also doesn't listen well but is very judgmental to her patients. The entire staff is terrible about communicating when you need your check ups to keep up with your monthly prescriptions, so you always end up with them denying your refills with absolutely no notice of needing appointments to maintain. I've tried both doctors and given them the benefit of the doubt for 3 years--AVOID if possible!! They also will try to justify why it's your fault you didn't keep up with your (UNKNOWN!) check up schedule. And finally, I've never NOT had to wait a considerable amount of time to been seen for my appointments (almost all of which were scheduled beforehand)--it's happened too many times for there to be special circumstances as to why the delay in being seen. read more

LOVE this practice! I have to admit, given the area, I was a bit weary. However, from the ladies at the front desk upon check in, to the nurse, to Dr. Norton, everyone was very customer service oriented, personable and professional. From check in time to being seen, was a total of 15 minutes and I appreciate that I was thoroughly explained to, the process of logging in to the patient websites to view medical records. Northwest Family Physicians is the best! I have been going there for about 10 years or more. Incredible service all around. Dr. Larsen is my favorite physician ever. He is very personable, friendly, and professional - - and even in these fast times, ALWAYS takes time to listen intently to every concern (even if I have a list) without judgement - a model for all doctors to follow and live up to. He's very logical and thorough, so I know there is no stone left unturned. And it's always clear during these discussions that he is up-to-date on the latest in medicine. I moved to Durham, NC, over a year ago and he's still my primary physician! Wouldn't have it any other way! I have been a patient of doctor Larsen's since early 2014. I have seen the other doctor in the practice, Dr. Nelson 3 times though. My husband, my son and myself are all patients at this practice. Each time that I have seen Dr. Larsen in person the experience has been positive while in the appointment but I have had a few instances that the customer service were below my expectation outside of appointments. I will start off by saying that my son is 2 years old. He was there for an appointment that I booked two weeks in advance because it wasn't an emergency and I told the receptionist that I knew flu season was upon us and to make my sons appointment fit what time works for them, as I'm at stay at home mom and can come any time. She chose afternoon. My son and I showed up on time and waited almost an hour past his appointment time. That within it's self is FINE. However, as a two year old in a boring room, my son was getting bored and making noise. I was trying to stop him but that's when the nurse felt it was okay to come in there and almost yell at my son. I was not okay with that. Had THEY been on time with appointments, my son wouldn't have been in there making noises, because we would have been gone. What promoted this review was my today's experience. I was seen Friday in the urgent care. I have the flu and a kidney infection. I'm on several medications and I called this morning to ask if the certain antibiotic I am on would cover a sinus infection and an ear infection because I think I am developing that as well. When the nurse got back to me (she called within a reasonable amount of time) she said yes it would. I then asked if the doctor could write pain medicine and if he didn't write a narcotic then that was okay. His suggestion was to continue what I'm taking and give it a few days, even though I told them my current treatment was not helping. That upset me because there are hundreds of non narcotic medications he could try but I felt that he didn't want to deal with me. I spoke to the office manager and she states that she doesn't think that Northwest Family Physicians can do anything right by me and maybe it is time that I find a new doctor, which I had suggested I would do. I told her while yes, I have has 3 total complaints I have given 2 positive reviews about them too. During one visit a patient rep came in and asked me how my visit was and I told her that the visit was going great and I have a suggestion. I told the patient rep about the incident with my son and my complaint and I suggested maybe getting crayons for small children. The patient rep thought what as a good idea and said she would note that. Today during my call with the office manager she ONLY brought up my negative thoughts. After being here in my bed since Saturday in excruciating pain in my back, I am now looking on my insurance site to find a new doctor. While doctor Larsen is a good doctor, he has stood my husband and my own care. Our opinion seems not to matter to them. They have no patient retention and don't care if they loose a patient. I was looking for a primary doctor last year! My husband and I decided to try Northwest out. My husband was thrilled with Dr. Larsen. Unfortunately my three visits with Dr. Norton was not great. Dr. Norton always seem disinterested. She stayed far away from me like she were scared she would catch something. I always felt rushed out. Whatever I suggested she agreed. Never gave me suggestions. I always left thinking who is the doctor me or her? I have great insurance and a health savings plan. I was to come in for a series of visits and I called to confirm date, Jeanie at the front desk refused to tell me my last date until the small balance was paid, I told this receptionist, fine give me my date and I will take care of it my company pays for it though health savings. She refused. Are you kidding me? They just lost a patient. I recently dropped my husband off and saw a sign saying if you don't have updated insurance card on you you have to pay cash. Come on, it takes a phone call to check insurance. Seems to me Northwest has their administration running their practice and and with the less than compassionate Dr. Norton, they will continue to lose patients. read more
