I am generally uneasy when I enter the doctors office. I can honestly say - that my visits to this facility can take the anxiety out of the whole visit for me. They have a clean and open waiting area. They have several staff members so you do not have to wait long to check in and everything else is accessible. Including the doctors. I have met with two different doctors at this facility and both were warm and inviting and took time to thoroughly explain information to me. I feel a sense of peace and trust when I listen to their recommendations.

It amazes me the details he remembers from visit to visit. I am also extremely fond of the PA Dr Nguyen, she is so compassionate and caring. The nursing staff is also very competent and they understand and work with my very particular needs! There is frequently a wait however in my 100% opinion his services are worth the wait!!! I decided to look at the doctors note on the app and there was inaccurate data written! Things I had never said as symptoms! I called and was told an 'addendum' could be made based on my disagreement with notes. I will be finding another practice ASAP. Read the notes when you leave and trust your gut!!

Both of these recent issues because of an issue with Shiland, however when I call they still cannot do anything to get the prescription corrected. My doctor only seemed concerned to do 6 month checkups...but would let you know if you have a problem it's going to cost extra. Why go for the checkup if you can't discuss your heath issues. I actually did discuss getting a toe fungus prescription from my doctor, because I had been dealing with it for over a year. I did pay extra to Atrium because I discussed this at my 6 month check up. The prescriptions that the doctor sent to the pharmacy were over $1,500. So I am still dealing with toe fungus. The other problem is that my doctor never seems to be in the office. I am now contacting my health insurance to get recommendations for a new physician.

They canceled my appointment. No phone call to see if I was on the way or anything. And there was nothing about an automatic cancellation in the pre-visit notes from the office. Just an incredible lack of empathy, especially when I have had to wait beyond 10 minutes in the past in their waiting room as a patient. I'd look for other providers in the area if you can.

Being new to the area, I made an appointment over the phone, choosing this office based on proximity to my home & the positive reviews that I read. After giving my insurance information, for some reason my birthdate came back unverified and they were almost refusing me an appointment. I offered to call my insurance company and resolve the issue; they made my appointment. This morning, two hours before my appointment, they stated there were still issues verifying my insurance. I offered to self pay until it was all sorted -- estimated $450, depending on what the Dr. Would be billing me for (Crazy, but I'm unwell so I was willing to pay it) I was made to feel so uncomfortable during this over the phone exchange, the woman answered me "are you sick ? It sounds like you're sick -- is it your throat ? that's why you're coming in today, right?" ... me: "no ma'am, this is my normal voice." I couldn't stand to be on the phone any longer being treated in a rushed manner with zero respect. I cancelled my appointment and will be warning others not to come in. :(

I actually never saw him when I was a patient. My parents however have seen him. I always got stuck with a PA. I stopped being a patient for that very reason. I was having a stressful situation at work and it was affecting me medically and the PA I saw at that time wasn't helpful. Basically told me to just deal with the situation and no medical advice. My parents have continued to be patients and really like the practice. My mom loves the nurses that work there. They are always accommodating to her. It's not all that often that I go see the doctor, but when I do it's a good experience with him and the staff from the Mecklenburg Medical Group. My previous doctor was pretty good as well... but a little too good. It was really hard to get an appointment with him when/if I needed one so I sought out a new doctor. Luckily I came upon Dr. Shelton. The office is located in Southpark so it's pretty convenient from most places in Charlotte. Parking is never an issue. I did have to get used to e-prescriptions. I guess I'm old skool in that I expect a little piece of paper to take to my Pharmacy... but they just send it electronically and the prescription is waiting for me when I get there. Not that Dr. Shelton is one to dispense pills to treat you, but we discuss the options and it feels like I make an informed choice whenever I visit this doctor's office. Dr. Shelton is a part of CMC and have a vast network of Doctors to pull expertise from as well. I've had a couple referrals and they turned out great.
