I am currently facing criminal charges and for the simple fact that my previous attorney committed suicide earlier this year I chose to go with this firm. Unknowingly that they are hourly. I literally got into an argument with Mark Cogan on the phone as to why is his quote 10,000 dollars and not 7,500 like all the other firms that I have called. He said this is his business he is the boss and he and he only sets the price. At no time during that conversation did he tell me that this firm is not flat rate as is 90% of all other Attorneys in the area. If I was upset about 2500 dollars then at that point it should have been explained to me that they are not flat rate and that a case like mine would be a lot more than 10,000 anyway. What he said (Mark) was that " if you have a problem with that price then maybe we're not the firm you should go with" never once did he say we are not flat rate. Otherwise why would anyone who is upset about the difference between 7500 and 10,000. Continue to go with this firm knowing it will be a lot more? I am not mentally insane and I work very hard for my income as a small business owner. That 10,000 set my family budget back and now not only did I explain this to Mark he knew that I didn't know it. He sent a request for funds and in the email he said that " some individuals who are in a financial bind can turn to friends and family members, here is a link for them" in the email. Obviously he knew that. He never sat down with me to even meet me before depositing my check into his account. Matter of fact I never met him at all! He claimed to be sick in the office when I came to meet him. Though he still had me sign the paperwork to hire him and accepted me check without explaining how their firm charges. I was set to go to trial in a couple weeks before I signed up with his firm. I can admit that I didn't read the fine print. And I do mean fine. Almost 1000 words on a sheet of paper, in front of a person who is facing charges is a lot to understand. I should have had someone go over the fee agreement with me. Anyone in his office could have easily explained that they are not a flat rate form like most others are and that they could be a lot more than 10 grand so think about that before you make your decision to commit to this firm for representation. DID THAT HAPPEN? NO! He might have a good courtroom reputation, but do not go with this firm. Mark Cogan does not care about people at all. He knew that I would it be able to afford his firm yet failed to properly go over the fee agreement with me. As I was arguing with him over 2500 dollars. Yet still he let me sign that fee agreement without him nor anyone else in the office explaining it to me. He may very well have been sick that day we were supposed to have our initial meeting. I don't know. What I do know is that I had hired a previous Attorney to represent me and she committed suicide. I hired his firm unknowingly of the fees that it would be. And I explained that to Mark. It was a honest mistake. I asked could he please help me. Maybe a sliding scale or limited scope of work. Knowing that I didn't understand his feelings agreement because no one in his office went over it with me. He didn't even reply to my email, just had his paralegal send me a letter of withdrawal from my case. He might be a great attorney but he is a terrible man. His morals are in line with money hungry politicians that tell you one thing but mean something different. He knows the situation I am in and took advantage of me. Pure evil, with no intent on serving the people he works for just his bank account.

Well first off I want to thank Tyler and his respected team thank you so much for proving the system they were wrong it was and has been such a bittersweet moment but as far as for what Tyler did for me goes beyond what you were asked of I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. When I first brought this case to Tyler's attention we weren't sure if there would be a case opened and we had, had the evidence of innocence for myself as I was the client with the most known criminal history from the past at the time. so long story short a secret indictment came in and then Tyler instantly went to work on providing the evidence of my innocence which was the video. From there Tyler pushed through the motions tried to move for them to be dropped mind you this was an attempt murder 2nd and assault 1 unlawful use of weapon. 2 measure 11 and the 3rd believe class c felony. Based on my experience, Blake Dore came to court without having adequately prepared or developed arguments for the case. I was informed for the first time shortly before the hearing that he believed the County's case was essentially "bulletproof" and that there were no viable arguments to make. This assessment was not communicated in advance, and there was no prior discussion of strategy or whether proceeding to trial was advisable. After the hearing, I asked specific questions about why certain arguments were not raised, particularly arguments based on the correct revision of the manufacturer's manual that corresponded to the radar unit actually used in my case. Blake Dore acknowledged that those arguments were not made and explained that decisions were driven largely by how he believed the judge would react, rather than by the substance of the arguments themselves. When I pressed for explanations, my questions were not meaningfully engaged with. Preparation was described primarily in terms of obtaining discovery, negotiating, and the officer "checking the boxes" the judge typically requires, rather than coming to court with fully developed arguments. Additionally, I was not contacted after the trial to be informed of the outcome. I did not receive notice that the case had been lost until 17 days later, when I was finally sent a message through the firm's online portal. I understand that not every case can be won. However, I expect advance communication, clear strategy discussions, and timely follow-up. Based on my experience, those standards were not met, and I would not recommend hiring Blake Dore. I believe it would be a more sound decision to retain a different attorney.
