We needed to paint the inside of our house, specifically our living room and our kitchen after it got remodeled. Our beloved handyman Parker suggested Dan Stephenson of Allied Painting and Renovations to get the job done. Dan was quick to respond, and we scheduled an appointment for him to come visit us and give us a quote. Dan was great to talk to and easy to trust. We can right away see that he is detail-oriented and extremely transparent. He was able to put everything in writing and send us over an email with a quote that we thought was fair. We were both busy with ongoing projects, but we found a timeframe a few weeks later that worked for both of us. Dan showed up earlier in the week of our starting date to prep and look at our existing paint to see what can be used. We tremendously appreciated him working so late that day and as a bonus, he asked if we can start the project a couple of days early. My roommate and I prepared the space as much as we could to facilitate the process. Dan and his associate painter Ellison Oden showed up on time every day for four days, treated our home as if it was their own, and covered every single little detail. They didn't cut any corners. They covered and moved our furniture with care. They covered our kitchen counters, pantry, fridge, microwave, and cabinets. They protected our floors and worked meticulously around power sockets, fans, lights, and lamps. They even fixed a couple of water damaged areas in our hallway. They were punctual, polite, professional, honest, and simply the best at what they do. Dan's communication skills and level of competency are off the charts. He walks you through every decision to guarantee satisfaction. He always lets you know when he has to leave the job site for any reason. They are exceptionally clean and organized. At the end of every shift, they would make sure the place is livable as much as possible by cleaning up and stacking their tools. They put everything back the way it was after they were completely finished. We couldn't be happier with the painting job that these two gentlemen provided. More importantly, they are great human beings. A skill can be taught, but true character with a genuine sense of care is what we look for the most. Dan and Ellison were simply perfect. They checked every single box of what you would hope to get in the professionals you trust to paint the inside of your house. They are busy, but they are worth the wait. Shawn did the design and permitting for us. We set up under a cost plus model. That's how they work. My wife and I were super worried about this, but reluctantly agreed with our "been in Bend forever and did us right" realtor's recommendation. We fortunately found out that they were incredibly economical in executing the project, and more. Costs came in consistently under their estimates. I don't think that happens very often, and we didn't budget that way, so we were so pleasantly surprised and thrilled that costs came in at/below expectation. They are a small business, and there were times when they were working other projects and our things were on hold. From our experience, as long as Bend contractors are busy, an ideal match customer for their business will be someone with some time flexibility, who wants lower total costs and excellent work. Not to say they were particularly late. They completed the baseline scope of work pretty much on time (a month or two longer than their forecast at project start). We have added a few things, and my sense is they've juggled those asks with bigger projects they're working while trying to attend to when we're planning to be in town/out of town. We're fixing up a second home, so no big deal for us to work within this framework. So if you want great price, great quality, a trustworthy, super friendly and super super competent team to do your project, and you can live with less than perfection on schedule, you can't go wrong with White River.
