Haven't done much if he reviews updates , but this one is important enough . When you own a business , it's about serving your customer before ,during and after the experience . In our case I left a pair of sunglasses at the owners car and forgot to pick it up after we finished the rafting trip. Tried to contact him multiple times(about 6 times to be precise ) to get back the pair, with not much success .he stopped responding after the last time . I will not return back to this business , nor will I further recommend . (2020) Today, we went out with Northwest Whitewater Adventure and we had an amazing time. We had a group of 20 people and it was completely "Covid friendly." We are from California, visiting family in Oregon and Chris, Max, and Calvin took such good care of us and absolutely made it an amazing time! The kids went on one raft with Calvin and the adults on the other raft with Max. I normally won't have my kids go without us but it was completely safe and the kids couldn't have been in better hands! The entire team is experts at what they do and they made our day fantastic. We did a half day excursion today with family and friends and oh my goodness we had a fantastic time. Such a great day! We did a half day excursion on the North Santiam River. This is our first time on this stretch of water (most of our rafting trips have been on the Deschutes). Weather was perfect. The river is absolutely beautiful with mostly Class III rapids + one Class IV. Max is an extremely knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor and kept us entertained the entire time! Hoping we can get in at least one more trip before end of summer. Highly recommend booking through these guys! They are the BEST! read more

Although we loved our guide Grace who was a seasoned professional we were very disappointed in the business owner's lack of concern for customer service. We were not given gear prior to the trip without needing to request it (almost beg) including basics such as a waterproof jacket and helmet plus water booties. The large majority of participants went without any of the above. Safety did not seem to be a concern. Instead we were told they were running "short on supplies". Only a few of us were lucky enough to get this equipment and only because we requested it before it ran out. The guides other than Grace and one other were all rookies with minimal training. We were told none of them could climb back in the boat on their own if thrown out as most of the boats didn't have handles nor were they taught how. No water nor snacks were provided for the entire trip (over 3 hours) and no information was relayed prior to the trip about any of the above. To make matters worse, after finishing the trip I was informed that the driver of the van where I left my dry clothes and car keys had been dismissed for the day and I was told I needed to wait until he returned (at an unspecified time as he was "out of range") At no time did the business owner offer me a towel to stay warm during the wait despite my telling him I was freezing with my wet clothes on after the rafting trip. Overall this business needs to really ramp up their customer service and think less about cutting costs on basics such as equipment, snacks and water. My family and I have been on over 20 rafting trips throughout the nation and this is the first rafting trip we have been on where it was clear that safety and comfort of customers were not a priority. Would definitely not recommend nor return. read more

Took my family of 13 to go rafting with them yesterday, super fun. The guides really know what they're doing, the water was great, and no one fell out. They provide all necessary gears. Much higher quality rafts compared to the ones we went on in West Virginia. Photos turned out great. Now my family wants to do this every summer. read more

I had a great first rafting experience with NWA! They are very well organized, and in the summertime, this was a fun and non-intimidating trip down the Clackamas for a newbie. Although their website says the Clackamas has class III-IV rapids, at this time of year, it is more II-III. If you're worried, the chances you will fall out of the raft are very low. There were multiple kids on our trip, and none of them fell out unless they wanted to! The paddling was not very strenuous. I wanted to do it again as soon as it was over! If you want it to be more exciting, go in the spring! read more

They'll meet in a white van closest to the river- so look for that once you show up. The river itself is mostly class II and III but very fun for beginners and seasoned rafters as well. The guides were safe, knowledgeable and fun. Would recommend 100%. read more

This was a great first white water rafting experience! My husband and I were in Portland on vacation and decided on a whim to give rafting a try. Even though it was last-minute, Chris managed to squeeze us into a trip just two days later. The emailed instructions were clear, and the directions were easy to follow. Our guide was Jose, and he was such a sweet, funny, knowledgeable guy. We had just as much chatting as we did rowing. We were a small party of two--smaller than they would normally book--and we were booking only 4 days in advance. We called directly and talked to the owner and explained what we would like to do. Within an hour he called us back and had us booked with another small group. The whole experience is very well organized. My younger brother and I took a trip to Oregon to celebrate the passing of his California driver's permit test, 2 days earlier... or maybe his permit was just a good excuse to take a road trip. Either way, we planned this very last minute. I actually called NWA as we were driving to Oregon, the day prior to the rafting trip. We wanted to raft for a full day but only half days were available so we hesitantly booked 2 half day trips per NWA's advice. Before this trip neither of us had experience whitewater rafting and not knowing what to expect, we just hoped for the best. NWA exceeded our expectations in every way possible! This company is newly opened but family owned and operated by extremely personable, experienced professionals. Over 10+ years of experience guiding this river in a variety of conditions. After the first 4 hour trip, we could not wait to ride the rapids again!! Each trip was unlike the previous one. We could have easily spent our entire trip whitewater rafting with NWA and never gotten bored. We hardly noticed the cold water as our adrenaline and continued paddling, kept us warm. Booties and wet-suits were available for rent but the dry jackets seemed to be enough, especially when the sun came out in the afternoon. In between rapids, the guide's area knowledge and picturesque scenery kept us entertained. (MAX, you are awesome! Next time, we are in Oregon, I'd like to hire you to take us fishing in the area.) I highly recommend taking the smallest raft available, if possible. It made for quite a wild ride both times and we LOVED IT! Reasonably priced and worth every penny! We will definitely be returning! Great time! We had a boat of five and all of us were first timers except for one. Heidi and Chris, the owners, were super in getting us set up and on the river. Max our guide, gave clear instructions and explained each rapid making sure we knew how we would take each one. Being new at this, his guidance was spot on. Just finished an awesome day on the north santiam river with our new friends from northwest whitewater adventures. First some background. We are a family of four with two daughters who are in their late teens. Given lack of white water experience, one daughter was pumped for the day while one was apprehensive of the unknown. Bottom line is that all want to raft again! Second, the river is amazing. 17 rapids on the full day trip. Beautiful views with wide range of rapids, fir trees, ospreys, and turkey vultures. Third, the folks at nwa are amazing and made us feel like family members of this entrepreneurial multi-generational business. From Chris's orchestration behind the scenes and for cooking an amazing lunch to Max's old soul, amazing boat control and river knowledge, to the pictures and loaning us key gear, the nwa crew love what they do and it shows. Max even safely dumped me in the water! If you are considering rafting in the area, you cannot go wrong with this crew. read more

I had made a reservation for rafting with Northwest Whitewater on the day of the solar eclipse and we were unable to make it due to the unbelievably horrific traffic conditions. We called Heidi to let her know about our situation; she was very understanding and graciously accommodated us for the very next day. Her husband, Chris, led the expedition down the beautiful Clackamas River, where we encountered some very exhilarating whitewater conditions. My daughter-in-law was rafting for the first time, so she was a bit apprehensive about the adventure, but Chris' experience and knowledge of the river made us all feel very safe and comfortable from the beginning. Definitely one of the best rafting trips we have taken. Chris and his crew were fun, helpful, kind and very knowledgeable. The quality of the boats was the best we have ever seen. We loved how all the guides and boats interacted with each other. The Clackamas is such a gorgeous river.
