Harrow on the Hill is a meet point for several branches of the Metropolitan line heading South to London (Uxbridge, Watford, Chesham, Amersham), as well as the Chiltern trains. As such it can be a great meeting place, but it also become a bottle neck during rush hour. There is a bus depot just as you exit the station and the mall is just across the street The station also has a Cafe Nero (no seating area) right by the ticket booth and a Costa Coffee (with seating area) just before you enter the station I gave it only 3 stars as the station tends to be on the dirty side and the waiting rooms often smell like pee

My friend recently moved a bit further west and from where I was in London, a quick jump to the…read moreMetropolitan Line and a ride out to Harrow was the easiest way to get there. It's a nice station that is a bit more "overground" than "underground", meaning that it just doesn't look like a Tube station. Pinner is in Travelcard Zone 5, between North Harrow and Northwood Hills on the Amersham/Chesham branch. Trains from here into London go to Baker Street and sometimes further. There is a staffed ticket booth and automated ticket vending machines as well as the usual ticket barricades and Oyster readers. Surprisingly, this station is completely step-free, which earns it a fourth star in my rating guidelines. Just outside and across the way is a full-size Sainsbury's and a mini-cab taxi office is attached to the station. Note that the Tube does not run all night. There is a last train into London,generally between 12:00-12:30 am on weeknights and 11:30-12:00 on Sunday's.

During peak times,only All Stations or Semi-fast trains stops at Pinner so the frequency is but less compared to Harrow-on-the-hill but not a big issue. If I happen to get a slow train I jump into a fast at Harrow-on-the-hill. The southbound platform has a news agents and also toilet facilities reminding one of how stations were in the past. A good mix of old and new the station is a small two platform one. The main entrance to the station is to the south-bound however the northbound has an exit which is open during peak times which is convenient for me. The station car park is huge and is attached to a large Sainsbury's.

Hatch End is an Overground station on the line to Watford Junction. Trains from here go in to…read moreLondon Euston station to meet up with the Northern Line, though it also catches a couple of Bakerloo stations (Harrow & Wealdstone, Wembley Central and Queens Park) if you want to be on that line. The next station north is Carpenders Park (which is step free) and south is Headstone Lane. It's a reasonable station in Travelcard Zone 6 (out of a possible 9) with ticket barricades, a staffed ticket booth and Oyster readers. Quite a nice station architecturally, I only saw it at night and my iPhone takes rather poor low light pictures.

The bus station is not large as such but has a rectangular layout with bus stops on both sides with waiting space in between. The stops are clearly marked and there is an electronic arrival/departure timing boards showing the list of bus routes where buses are expected. The station has a newsagent that sells stuff you need during your travel and also has option to top up the Oyster card as well. There is a small 'Treats' snack shack where you can get small bites and drinks. The station gets extremely crowded during peak times. One of the popular route is 140 which is the service to Heathrow Airport, and is a 24 hr service. As I said, it delivers but nothing to rave about.

It has always had a bit of an ongoing thing where it plays classical music throughout the building - I think there was some old thing where classical music prevents kids from staying at a location. Regardless, it's quite nice (although that may be my age aiding that opinion!). The actual layout is a bit of a mess as the buses often get backed up trying to get into the stops around the back of the station as it just takes a little traffic and it all jams up. Plus whenever a bus stops at the first stop around the back, it inevitably jams everything up again. Sadly though, it's a victim of its own success as there simply isn't the footprint available to change the layout to something better since it backs directly onto the underground tracks.

Once again, this station drops you off to some shops, though of course the housing density around here isn't all that great (probably because of the people who live here blocking everything). Preston Road station serves the Metroplitian line only…read more It's has your usuals that you would expect from a station, the exception being Wifi. The platforms are well looked after, with the added plant bushes,waiting rooms and toilets. I don have any bad memories of waiting long for a train here. I enjoyed the quick ride into Cental London. Preston Road Station used to be my local, but now I just pass through now. But it definetly fserved a good purpose at the time.

Due to a lift issue at Harrow and Wealdstone Station, I had to take a half an hour detour out of my…read morejourney to continue on my Southern Railway train to Harrow Station, only to end up waiting for another train to take me back to Wembley Central, which goes on the opposite platform with a working lift, this trip to the station because of this was an unwanted one. Harrow and Wealdstone Station is a train station in the Harrow area of London, and for ticketing it is classed as region 5. This is quite an old station, to the point where it was made a Grade II Listed building in 1990. The worst ever British railway crash in 1952, which killed 112 people also sadly occurred here at this station. The station is managed by London Underground but has both Underground and Overground trains. As mentioned this station is pretty old, and it has nothing too special about it, it doesn't have a lot of shops or coffee-shops in the station. Services from here go into the likes of Milton Keynes, Wembley Central and London Euston, with the London Euston being an Overground or London Midland service, as I recall this calls at Wembley Central, so if you're going to watch a football match at Wembley this station isn't too far away for you in terms of getting a train into Wembley. As mentioned, a decent yet not fantastic overall level of more local train connections run from here to the likes of Watford, Milton Keynes, Wembley and London, and this station isn't terrible but overall as it lacks any special feature, other than being a Grade II listed building, I sadly feel Harrow and Wealdstone Station deserves a two-star rating, which even then is a little generous.

Very quick to get in / out of the station - just mind where you entered and where you exit. Used the Oyster card and found it very easy to tap in / out. The staff working there are very friendly and will help you out if get confused. Just remember they have 4 platforms and the above ground trains help you see that. Found their bathroom & snack shop very useful for the 35 minute trip into London!

Well, it's another station that I can mark off my list, and, well, yeah it is a station, and the ticket hall is actually rather nice, and of course the trains are rather regular of course. A simple enough station on the Jubilee line, Neasden is close enough to Ikea that it is an ideal…read morebackup for the ongoing weekend engineering works that affect the usual station, Stonebridge Park. As to the walk to Ikea, a word of warning. It seemed a safe enough walk in broad daylight, but there are a couple of alleyways that might earn a different perspective after the sun sets, if you know what I mean. The way is well marked with signs and arrows, so no worries about getting lost. A central platform with tracks on the outside, Neasden is a pleasant enough station, with no elevator access to street level. There are Oyster readers and ticket barricades at the station.

Yeah, this is one of those pretty tacky stations that appears to have been rushed to build it so…read morethat there is a station in the suburbs. The other thing that rather annoyed me with this station was that you had to touch off to go to the otherside, which was quite annoying (except that I would touch off to go outside anyway).

There seems to be another larger station building on the platform which is no longer used, which is…read morea shame because that station looks much nicer than the newer one that is on the other side. Then again I suspect that this has to do with the line being converted into a tube line. Mind you, it looks like I didn't spend all that much time here because I completely missed the pub across the road.
