If you're the type of person to pay for what mama can do at home, this is your spot. I'm not usually this harsh with my reviews and I truly wish these people the best, but much improvement could be made. I asked the barber for a fade from a 1 (that's 1/8 an inch). Looks like instead, we shaved the sides and back without changing the guard once. There was no edge-work and the general shape of my hair was very inconsistent and poor. I want to be clear that I did not ask specifically for the barber to edge me up, but this should be expected of a fade. Under different circumstances, I would have told my barber to fix a bad edge job (for instance, above my ears), but I could tell we were uncomfortable with both fading and cutting curly hair, so I cut my losses and paid for the cut. Let the pictures speak for themselves. It would be different if this were a women's salon or a Supercuts or something, but if "barbershop" is in the name you should know how to do a fade. Again, I wish these barbers the best and I really hope they will put forth the effort to learn to do common haircuts consistently. Perhaps this cut was a fluke, but it was bad enough to scare me away for good. read more

Got my hair cut here for the first time today. I was the only customer in the place. There's a taxidermied alligator on the wall and a children's car-shaped barbershop chair underneath it. That's the ambiance. The woman who cut my hair didn't give me her name but was super nice and took her time and did a great job. The game was playing on the TV. Getting haircuts while traveling Dash not my favorite but sometimes you got to do what you got to do, especially when hair grows as fast as mine! Anyway I went to this barber shop after seeing it was the only one in town with any reviews. They were all good and positive reviews so I wasn't overly apprehensive. Everything about my experience was excellent! The atmosphere, the conversation, and the service we're great. I would recommend this place highly to anyone, especially locals. I am very particular about my haircuts. I used to drive 50 minutes when I lived in Jacksonville just for a decent haircut. Thankfully, that is no longer the case as I found Northwood Barber Shop on Yelp and am so happy I did! I was able to just walk in and get a chair right away without any wait at all. The large selection of magazines was actually enough to make me upset that I didn't get to wait though. The atmosphere is definitely one of a throwback barber shop and the amount of care they put into haircuts is definitely reminiscent of when pride in work was a common theme. Anytime I get a straight razor neck shave as a part of the haircut, I'm always happy. One cool thing they had was a compressed air blower that blew off any excess hair. I will definitely be going back for my monthly haircuts and I could not be happier that I found such a great place. read more

Hi Guys, I have lived in other cities/states and in my experience when I find a good haircut, then either I move or the cutter moves, and then the haircut is bother and then repeat bother until I find another good haircut.
