Great selection of items. I love the decor, the candy (try the toffe peanuts they are amazing), the jewlery, the signs, the clothing, candles, etc! Hot tip, in the back they have clearance items and not just a few, a whole wall. They are good about rotating through that. First time in Deluth. Until going in Northwoods everyone has been nice and friendly. Northwood had 2 of the rudest B****** behind the counter i have ever seen. Worst customer service ever. Would recommend staying out of this store. 1 star because you can't give zero. I know the perfect place they can put their star. read more

What kind of customer service is this? Politely enforcing a mask rule is okay. But what the manager did in this store was out of line. I personally wear a mask to stores, but my friend can't because of severe Athsma and has a doctor's note stating so. When we entered, the manager approached her coldly and shouted "WE REQUIRE A MASK HERE." And motioned her out despite my friend offering a doctors note of proof. My friend then told me she'd wait for me outside, so I lingered for a minute and wandered over to the jewelry station where I watched the manager march over and start saying disrespectful things about my friend in a very gossipy way to another colleague (I don't think she realized I was was with my friend shopping) and I was totally disgusted. Enforcing a rule is one thing. Maybe even slightly aggressively so out of personal views -- but to say disgusting things about a customer behind their backs where everyone within ear shot can hear them? Honestly I was planning on spending money here but now I will never shop here and I hope this review alerts people to avoid this place. Customer service begins with the right attitude. And the people working here do not know how to deliver that. read more

Rude staff and owners. Went in 10 minutes before they closed, I understand that they closed at 7 by the fact I can read and saw the hours on the sign when I walked in but it was also reiterated by multiple staff members that followed me around the store telling me they closed at 7. The store is small and all in all I would have had no issue being in and out in 10 minutes, so there was no need for the way they acted. I walked out without buying anything, because why spend money at a place that obviously didn't want my money. read more

My mom and I also had unpleasant experience with a lady who looked like she's in mid-50s today. She was rude to answer my questions and mean to my mom who speaks little English when she was having difficult time paying with a card. I don't know if she's a racist but she was much nicer to a Caucasian couple in front of us. My mom is a very sweet lady and visiting the US for only a short time. I'm very disappointed that my mom had to experience this. We will never visit there again. I don't know why she is still employed there. read more

If you want to be stared down and looked at as a criminal for literally just walking in the door, this is your store! My family visited 5/14/17 Mother's Day and a woman in her mid-50's stared at us consistently as we walked through the store. This woman looked PARANOID. She also stared down everyone else who was in the store as well. I can tell you this was NOT a race issue either, as 100% of the potential customers were WHITE. I understand fully that you can not judge a book by it's cover, but there are other clues besides looks to tell if people are stealing or looking to commit theft and that was NO ONE! I myself had worked in retail for many years and I'm very familiar with the issue. My Dad who retired out of law enforcement after 42 years... asked the girl behind the counter if the truffles were hand made in the area and her instant response was, ''NO!'' Apparently this is what they consider customer service. I originally picked up an item to purchase, but being as insulted as I was to be stared down as a criminal, I put it back and left. So there we were, a bunch of clean cut people with smiles on our faces ready to do business only to be forced out the door by being absolutely unjustly deemed criminals simply by walking in the door. I will be spreading the word via social media, phone, reviews, word of mouth to everyone I know! Do not do business in this store unless you are ready to be treated like a criminal. Unreal. Talk about unwelcoming. Your store is way over-priced to boot. I wish there were an option for ZERO stars. read more

If I could choose less than one star I would! We shopped at the store yesterday and came back to purchase something. The store was locked 5 minutes before the posted closing time. There were still employees in the store checking out individuals....when the door opened for someone to depart my husband commented there was a t-shirt he wanted....we knew style and size but they still refused to let us in. At this point it was 5:56 (posted closing 6:00). Our transaction could have been completed by 6. Happy to take our business elsewhere!!! read more

Such a fun little store - always have to visit this at least once when I'm in Duluth. I love that they have retro candies for purchase from when I was a kid - encouraging a trip down memory lane. The local products are fun to see and it's good to know that they support the local communities. Thankfully the employees don't constantly ask if you need help or watch you like a hawk (which is pretty typical for small shops/boutiques) but are available if you have any questions. I used to really like shopping at this store over the years, especially during the holiday season. However, the last couple of years I felt uncomfortable shopping there like I was a criminal being closely watched. I said I would not go back anymore. No other stores in Canal Park seem to have employees who act this way. Anyway, I did go back and had another bad experience. I walked in with my daughter to do our usually Christmas shopping. We had drinks from Caribou down the street. We were asked to leave our drinks on a table or counter or something. No thanks! I can carry my coffee in any other store in Canal Park and NOT be treated like a child or criminal. We left the store and made our purchases a few doors down. We walked in and two young girls were at the registers. They were attentive and pleasant. An older woman (an employee) walked in and yelled at the two girls because a young man as leaving the store with a Monster drink in his hand. Did she expect them to push him out? He was leaving already and there were no signs posted saying "no food or drink" etc. She then proceeded to yell, yes yell, about something she wanted picked up. I stopped browsing and refuse to return. They don't have anything I can't get at another store on the lake walk. I don't know who she is but she should worry far more about the strong soap smell that makes this chocolate seem like some potpourri disaster. read more
