The level of incompetence is overwhelming. I don't know who is running the place. I don't know if this is a teaching hospital. If it is I feel for their program. My daughter came to the ER with a lump and pain. The staff took vitals. We got a room. But when the doctor entered our room energy shifted. He examine her told her just take a stich bath and Tylenol. He stated it was a cyst. My daughter went to her doctor office the following day. The doctor determine is was a boil and lanced it. The ER staff didn't know what a boil was and couldn't even lance a boil. Sad. read more

When did this become acceptable in a medical setting where serious problems need to be taken care of ? Is management allowing nurses to behave rudely and neglectful? Comments, attitude and mean remarks. Inattentive nurses who challenge people who are in fragile health, lying and cold neglect. Not one or two but MANY. I can't believe it. They sent my father home in an ambulance with no clothes on just a Johnny coat, which is unacceptable and disrespectful. They should've asked the patient if he wanted to be fully dressed once he did arrived at home, there was no help to assist him into the home off of the gurney into his wheelchair. I was charged 11,600 for 4 stitches. Granted- I had a few complications - one was at the hands of them. Office personnel in billing is awful. I was rushed off the phone quite a few times. They tried to justify their price gouging and were not helpful in obtaining a payment arrangement that was amicable to us both. The care I received was mixed. First E.R doc was great!- one of the Physicians Assistants was a jerk. Overall, I was left with a less than positive experience and I would rather die than have to return here for anything. read more

Needed to visit the ER at 5:15 am saturday morning due to complications with Restless Leg syndrome. Nurse asked my weight. she didn't take vital signs ... no BP or pulse. with uncontrollable leg movements for previous 8 hours the ER doctor entered the room where I was pacing with my husband sitting down. He said " what's up?", never introduced himself and I said I was suffering from Dopamine Agonist withdrawal syndrome. He said we will give you an IV with Valium. an hour later an IV was put in; an hour after that the Valium was administered. my symptoms were unchanged. I contacted my internist who said you need clonazapan, which I relayed to the ER doctor. he never contacted my internist directly to confirm this. He said " OK if that's what you want ". then he said he was doing research and recommended Pramipezole, the dopamine agonist that has caused these painful withdrawal symptoms. I refused the pramipexole. An hour later ( after continually asking the nurse when someone could provide an alternative medication, she finally gave me a Clonazapan pill ( 2mg.). my uncontrollable leg movements continued. no one checked on us for another hour. At that point I told my husband I couldn't be stuck in a small room any longer. we got up and left as no one was following up at home my husband removed the IV line. we never received a call from the the ER. 3 days later i received a patient satisfaction survey by phone . when asked about my experience with the NuVance norwalk RR, I asked if she wanted to know the truth... and said it was horrible and that I would never return. Updated: 5/15/23 Thank you to Erin in billing customer service who followed up with me regarding the bills I have gotten and was wonderful and so helpful. Went into the ER for abdominal pain on 12/9/22 and was given pain meds at 7:30 am. Around 2 pm I asked for pain meds again. Nurse left and said he'd get them and never came back. Another nurse came in and I asked her and she said she needed to take my BP first, then she left to get the meds and while she was gone I began vomiting and I was in the hallway begging for pain meds. Finally after an hour of severe pain I was given some medication. I ended up have 2 surgeries in 2 days due to gallbladder and stones in duct areas. Fast forward to March and since I didn't have insurance the hospital billing department and I came to an agreement of an amount to pay. Since it wouldn't work to send the money over the phone, I went to the hospital and gave them a cashiers check. The cashiers check was not received well and I was told I should have bought a personal check. Not sure why a personal check was preferred but they took and it and I was told by Irene Perez I could NOT get a receipt of payment until the check clears so a week went by and she told me it cleared and she said that there would be a receipt in the mail. This was March 22! I have called once a week since then and left messages regarding my receipt which they have YET to mail me. I did get a copy of the check from my bank, but all of a sudden I am getting new bills regarding this hospital visit from December! last week Ms. Perez now said she couldn't send a receipt but an itemized bill of payment. I'm so done and will start reaching out the supervisors and the board if needed. So ridiculous! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would in a heartbeat, the staff at the front desk and security are very rude. They definitely have bad attitudes, and dont treat people with respect cause they obviously have none for themselves. They have absolutely no handicapped parking for anyone disabled or disabled veterans I noticed. They tell people to park a football field away in some parking garage when under the Disability Act in 2010 stated clearly that hospitals are suppose to by law offer handicapped parking within 50 feet of the hospital entrance or emergency room entrance way! This hospital does not seem to even care that they violate People Constitutional rights each day! The people who work there came outside, and started questioning me about who I was waiting for and what that person's name was, and what my name was....I'm like WTF, this is like some Nazi concentration camp! They have no legal right to question me. Maybe they SHOULD read the Constitution of the U.S.? They treat people terribly. This has got to be the worst experience I've ever encountered at any hospital. I'll never go back to this dump with a bunch of low lifes at the front desk. They look like a bunch of CRACKHEADS! I rarely do this but it is surely deserved. My son had a severe cut in his thumb that needed stitches and possibly more attention to nerves/tendons etc. I, happily, have never been to the emergency room there and was pleasantly surprised that they valeted my car. As I was worried about managing that issue. More importantly, the Dr's and nurses were absolutely wonderful. Very attentive but also willing to go to other sources within the hospital to make sure they were doing right for my son. I know an emergency visit is rarely enjoyable as the hospital needs to prioritize folks for what is most dire but this was a wonderful experience considering the circumstances. Yes it finally happened! A visit to the ER!! Not that this was something on my bucket list or a place I had ever desired to be at, but on a disturbing Autumn morning with heaviness and uneasiness being felt in my chest, and access to google only confirming that whatever it is it can't be good, I decided to drive over to check myself out for a potential heartattack?? The parking and access to the ER was pretty straight forward and I was taken to a room where the testing began. The nurses and Dr. were the most fun, great personalities, plenty of jokes going on at 5 AM and they attended to me well. After a 3-4 hours process the Dr. confirmed that unfortunately they found nothing wrong with me, no symptoms of a heart attack, everything appearing normal, so regretted to inform me that my visit to the ER would need to be curtailed. Feeling 10 years younger I checked out, the process being seamless, and then proceeded to pick a Cheese Steak sandwich to celebrate this moment. P.S: Yes the bill arrived a few weeks later and all of the above symptoms reappeared! read more

Boyfriend was throwing up consistently for over 12 hours with a fever and no food and water, waited 7 hours in the waiting room, the staff was rude and gave us absolutely no help. They completely forgot about him, ignoring the fact that he probably threw up 20 times in the waiting room. The staff said that there were no beds available yet, there were empty beds sitting there in the hallway. Genuinely appalled at the service at this "emergency room." This is a good place to get treated at i would say to come here there is a vending machine to get snacks if your hungry at the front. the nurses are nice to me and my family. the care is great here and the type of care is safe and amazing. i have never gotten a shot here. it's great because i hate shots and needles they are to sharp! I recently had a loved one admitted to Norwalk hospital. I have to say that everyone from the front desk, nurses, PCTs, are attentive and try to help in anyway. Yes there were issues but at least the staff would try to do whatever they could to help with the challenging situations. But I am very disappointed that after trying to connect with two doctors for the past 3 days, they never responded to me. DR. HARISIS AND DR. A family member had the misfortune of being here. The care provided by staff and physicians was substandard. managers did nothing to help. They may have a smile on their face when they tell you nothing is wrong but that doesn't make it so. they mad mistakes doing procedures and did nothing about it. So I usually like Norwalk hospital & never really have nothing bad to say........except last night. So I had to go in the emergency room because I fell down the stair & twisted my ankle & wrist. Of course valet & reception desk they are always very nice. Once in the ER I got physicians assistant, that's fine but I work for the city & they do not take a doctor's note, there's a form I must bring to get filled COMPLETELY & ACCURATELY, tax I.D., physicians stamp etc. Or I don't get paid for being out. They were ok, I got my x-ray done & told me I have to make an appointment a specialist, okay! What got me upset was the nurse wrapping my foot & wrist gave me this funny look after lifting my leg up & I gasp because well the obvious......I was still sore & in pain. She ran & grabbed the physicians assistant & she then says nothing is broken. Oh wow like my pain is magically going to go away!!! The nurse wrapped my ankle & put the brace on to tight, it just seemed being it was a late Friday night they just wanted to get me out of there as soon as possible. No attitude but the feel was like she didn't want to be there So the physicians assistant filled out the paperwork for my job & put the wrong dates. I told the nurse ( I CARRY more than 1 form because they always mess up, forms can not be fixed with white out or crossed out) the P.A. filled out another form missing info & only gave me till Monday to recover & head back to work............. So if your telling me to go back to work monday........why is it I need crutches, a splint & a brace.............this is why I can't stand doctors or the health care scam system, just like may other working fields(lawyers, mechanics etc) they are all full of it! They don't care about you they care about the money they make off of your insurance & the crap they give you so they can charge your insurance more money!!!!! I've never been this late at the hospital before but it seems like people who work on the earlier shift care alot more than those on the night shift.....especially on a Friday night!!! If I could give this place zero stars I would. First off all as soon as you walk into the ER you can just feel how unwelcome you really are. I felt judged and if you don't have insurance forget it. Also very uncomfortable how you have to let them know in-front of everyone else what is going on with you, where is the privacy in that!? The receptionists have no empathy or even really care about anything. The nurses seem to do as they please here as no one seems to hold them accountable for anything. Myself and a few family members can tell you about horrible experiences at this hospital. Save yourself and head over to Stamford Hospital if it's an actual emergency as Norwalk Hospital seems to be a training facility filled with people that don't care. I've been to this hospital in the past and although I wasn't killed during those previous times & some nurses were excellent...,SOME nurses were terrible!!! I mean, from causing a painful rash to the most recent Emergency IN March 2022 where i was given an NSAID when I wrote down on the paper that them I'm allergic. Coincidentally, that item was "removed" from my chart AFTER they opened an investigation!!! Nuvance has ruined Norwalk hospital so that i will never ever go back! Fool me once, etc... I felt like i was going to die still 2 days later as things got worse and Norwalk Hospital had sent me home with nothing found! They suck so bad! Thank goodness, once again, my GP figured out what was going on. It was an allergy to the antibiotic I was on, which i said was possible but nobody listened. The NSAID they gave me was powerful WHICH I SAID, "I'm allergic!" made my suffering much worse for 2 weeks after! Im disgusted the "investigation" was a BS formality! Went there at 6.30am today with my 6 year old son who was having an asthma attack. Sat for 40 minutes waiting to be check in with zero acknowledgement from anyone. There was only one person ahead of me so why it was taking so long I'm at a total loss. I stood up to see if it was our turn to be checked in and was told to sit down. I decided to leave and take him to urgent care instead and we were in and out within 30 minutes. The ER reception staff need customer service training and some triage wouldn't go a miss either. If I could move this facility to my state I would! The start was with the valet personnel who allowed me to park at the front and rest for a moment because I was unsure about going in. He kindly told me not to move my car and to just sit there and catch my breath. He told me to keep my windows down for air to flow. And informed me of where he'd be if i decided to be seen!!! Phenomenal care and concern from VALET!!! Once inside, aside from the front desk, the ENTIRE team was beyond what I expected. The triage nurse was caring and quick with addressing the start of my care. Prince the PA was phenomenal! He patiently listened to my concerns as I babbled on and on. It felt as if I was the only patient he had, although I knew otherwise. He explained everthing as to what was going to be done in complete detail and I was left without any questions! The radiology tech came quickly and was extremely friendly. The phlebotomy was also extremely friendly and engaging, we laughed about several things, which made me calmer then I already was after Prince. Then the Doctor!!!!! I cant remember his name but he also came in with the same bedside manner and had complete eye contact while listening and explaining in detail what was going on! I was floored at how I felt like the only patient. Also there was a code grey called and I witnessed and entire team (when I say entire I mean I believe even the janitors were helping) definately employees who had already clocked out as it was during a shift change were hands on with addressing an emergent situation!!! And after that amazing display of teamwork they all went back to work as if nothing happened! I'm a healthcare worker also and I could only wish to have a team this amazing to work with especiallywhen there's an emergency! Thank you Norwalk hospital!!!! I had a bad experience with Norwalk Hospital and Danbury Hospital, who are both under the same management now after the acquisition. The quality of care and their inclination to force treat patients and then send them the bill for it makes me avoid their network. They put me on a regimen of medications which were immediately changed by the doctors when I left. You are better off driving to Stamford or Greenwhich because their medical care and network is higher quality. read more

I visit the norwalk hospital IR in 11/8/21 was a really bad experience ,waited for 3.1/2 hours estimate time was 3 to 6 hours many people was complaining, I was in pain they took my temperature and a urine sample, I was extremely tired and in pain I left with some other people, they never call to say how i was feeling o give me o tell me that i had urinary infection but they didn't hesitate to send me the bill for 112 $ because i had no insurance, they forced me to pay 99,80 $,because i were there,had better results the next day in a walking clinic, if you have an emergency and don't have insurance please go to Yale o a walking clinic you will have a much better results. read more

Here's my issue. I understand the nature of an "emergency room" and a long wait is to be expected. Unfortunate, but understandable. My problem is given that it is flu season I really think they should be cleaner. There were several people who came in with full blown flu, and they were placed in the same area as people who came in with physical injuries. Additionally, the triage nurse uses the same equipment to test blood pressure and pulse without cleaning it. Blood pressure cuff, no big deal. But putting your finger in the same monitor that someone who just threw up and coughed into their hands is not acceptable. Simple to wipe that equipment down, and to disinfect the bathroom (that two people ran in to vomit). I waited nearly four hours and not once was anything cleaned. read more

After numerous attempts to expunge it, Norwalk Hospital, the president, CEO, and the director of emergency services have absolutely refused to remove it. Make sure you stop off to get a bank loan first before coming to the ER here, because this place, in my opinion, tried to gouge me for thousands of dollars for an outpatient check-up. I had a kidney stone at 4 a.m. in the morning, so while in overwhelming pain, this was the first place I thought of going, which I came to regret. I was never admitted into the hospital, yet I was billed $10,000 for an exam, a sonogram, and medication. My insurance paid about half, and I paid another $1000 out-of-pocket. It wasn't enough for these *tards since all they care about is getting their outrageous fees. The business office refused to negotiate with me, and when they could not justify a $10,000 visit, reported me to a credit agency when I refused to pay more. They are, IMO, despicable. read more

Came in for a cat bite. Was told my husband couldn't come into lobby. Then they proceeded to allow everyone else in with a spouse or family member. The nurse then started testing me in the lobby! Took my blood pressure and asked to weigh me in front of strangers. Asked personal medical questions within earshot of everyone in lobby of emerge room. When I asked to be put into a private area they refused even though I felt uncomfortable and was crying. So unprofessional and broke every HIPPA rule but asking me to divulge personal information within earshot of 10 people. read more
