No one wants to visit the dentist. When Dr. Patel is looking after me I feel completely comfortable. I literally feel nothing when she uses the needle to freeze my mouth. During the entire time my comfort is what's most important. "You're going to feel a pinch." "You're going to feel vibration." "Are you doing OK? Just raise your hand if you want me to stop." "Now I'm going to do this." And so on. With past dentists I would have a sore jaw and gums for days after. Not with Dr. Patel! I no longer cringe at the thought of visiting the dentist! The dental hygienists and front desk staff are just the icing on the cake. Fun folks but still very professional!

"Alberta Dental Association" legalized "price gouging", when they abolished the fee guide. Nothing illegal with "dental price gouging", nor is charging $10 for a .50 cent bottle of water in Hurricane Katrina. Dr. Art Piercy Owner ---------------------------- He flat out refuses to give reasonable rates, graduated in the 70's and feels his "experience" allows him to "price gouge." Keep in mind computers didn't even exist back then. Previous Employee Tells us How it Works --------------------------------------------------------- Art bills each "dentist" a set fee for each procedure they do. Ex: Root Canal, (3 roots/filling) Art gets $1148 for everyone sold and the dentist gets % of what's left over. They charge $1500 PLUS $300 for the filling. Each "dentist" is billed out at full rate, No matter the what country or year graduated. Your Dentist will try to max your Insurance --------------------------------------------------------- Look for a dentist with reasonable rate. Retail price for root canals in Edmonton around $500 and Calgary around $1000. One of art's "special root canals" will cost you $2000 and will max out most insurance plans. Dr. Leung is a really nice, gentle dentist, he is easy to talk to and always answers my questions when i'm there. The hygenists are really great too. I have a male hygenist (cant remember his name!) he is really gentle and has never hurt me while cleaning my teeth. I'm a big baby when it comes to getting my teeth cleaned, the whole idea of having gloved fingers in my mouth just freaks me out but they are always gentle and they take my fears into consideration.
